Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Riches of Chryse
For the next couple of days, it remained the same. The same lectures, the same set-up for new strategies, and the same visual of what the monsters were. On a clear afternoon, however, while Harvard was summoning and watching one of his new monsters, Alibaba, as a quick change of pace, he would see it. A bright glimmer that nearly blinded his eyes, forcing the monster to step in and help, shielding the boy from the light, whilst tapping on his head and temporarily taking away the brightness emanating from the island, serving as its main ability to steal whatever interacts with the undead bandit. The boy would be given a proper chance to see it, as well as whoever was on the crows nest, hearing a loud shout echo across the ship, nearly spanning across the seas, with Harvard joining in. "LAND HO!! LAND HO!!!!" They'd scream.
The group would step out of their rooms, climb up to the bow, and witness the island itself: A Land with its earth and soil made of solid gold, emerald rivers with gemstones to serve as skipping stones, amber trees with diamonds to substitute as fruit, Burmese ruby pillars that shined brilliantly around a majestic temple, one that spanned just as big as the island itself. Platinum docks were made, one of which held a majestic ship, one much like the King William's Revenge, albeit with its flag now bearing a different symbol, one of a hand holding a gem, a shine that exist on its edges. It felt like a dream, seeing such a land. Once they boarded the docks, Harvard and his friends would step down, using Alibaba to carry the four, taking the time to look around their surroundings, oohs and aahs exiting their mouth, before Harvard turned his head a solid 180 towards the pirates. "Since when was this a thing!?" He'd ask.
Anne chuckled a bit, unfazed by the disturbing head shift, as she quickly stepped down and followed, with Teach being right behind, the latter commanding the crewmates to tie the ship down and keep it from floating away. "Just recently, actually. Only has been a few days since its whereabouts were found." She'd answer.
"Aye! Bes' part is that the landlubbers aren' tryin' to pillage this place like we are! Thinkin' it's a natural biome worth livin' in! HAH! The mooks!" The Captain would add, poking fun at the idea that such a land as this would be a place staying in, especially with how infertile its soil was. "We'd be skeletons before we'd last a year 'n t'is island! It's LITERALLY made for pilferin'!" As soon as he said such words, an echo would be heard from within the temple, a laughter of pure joy.
"Oi! We's got sum visitor's, aye?! Edward 'Blackbeard' Teach! T'is yous, matey!?" The voice asked, catching the children off guard, looking amongst one another as if there was another pirate that was trying to steal what was rightfully theirs to earn.
"AYE! T'is me! I's even gots some company! You made a big ruckus, havin' this piece o' land to yeself!" Teach would taunt, as the temple would open its gates, letting the group in, getting a bigger spectacle than what they saw from the island, as well as the person inside it: A Man in a red coat and blue pants, a silver hook on one of his hands, and a ring adorned with the other. The most prevalent feature, however, was his head, being akin to a human's skull, decorated by the jewels within the land. He was sitting atop a lapis lazuli throne, snapping his fingers to shape the temple to adorn a red streak, acting almost like a red carpet, as he'd get off of his chair and walked towards them.
"Been wonderin' wha' time yous ruffians be takin' from, Hahaha!! So, Who's t'eh lil' tykes ye carried along with, eh?" The man asked, much to the confusion towards the children. Anne would clear her throat to catch their attention and explain herself.
"To put it simply, kids...This trip isn't just for our goal. It's for meeting him. Calico 'Rackham' Jackawok. As for why we took a while, well we had to do a bit of healin' because of said tykes." She'd explain.
"Goal? HAH! Oh, I's get it! You's be visitin' just t'ah rob from me, aye!? So glad you two nev'r changed a bit! Was worried yous be hangin' up ye flags an' abandonin' yah ways of piratin'!"
"Pfft! As if we'd ever do that! Seriously though, We were kinda here to....well...take you back to our crew, essentially." The toothy smile that came from Jackawok simply turned into a disappointed frown, as Anne would explain, noticing the children were just as shocked, as well as being just as disappointed, due to expecting a fight from someone and taking at least some amount of money to fund for their search. "It's been.....far, FAR too long, Jack. You know that more than I do. We have to take you back home. Back to us, aye?"
Calico merely took a deep breath as he'd take out something from his coat: A parchment. Such a parchment didn't need to unfold to let them know what happened, yet he still did, and through its assortment of words, had what looked to be his signature. "Even if I's did, Doin' that nets me a punishmen' an' me land to sink into t'eh ocean. Sacrificin' what I's loved, for what I's earned, Anne. It's sadly not up t'ah me to sail her waters once more. I'm sorry." He'd confess, much to the pain of the First Mate.
The Captain would try to intervene with this. "Surely yous can try and fin' a loophole for it, right?" He'd suggest, yet Calico merely shook his head, certifying that whatever such attempt would be done, will be for naught. "This....this is inhuman, though." He'd comment.
"Aye, but it be a price worth payin', if it means the world's bounties are given to me." Such words, despite having such hope, recognized that it was too steep of a cost. Even through his eye sockets, both Teach and Anne were able to understand his emotions
He misses it.
