Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Speedrun
Silence.
The two stared at one another, realizing that their dice now is no longer needed. They would still have to roll it, but whatever they gain now becomes used almost instantly, the game being nearly over. Calico kept his calm as he'd drop his die, closing his eye sockets, letting his body be as relaxed as possible. "Aye...Let's finish it." He'd breathe, rolling his shoulders, opening his claw-like hand he attained a couple turns ago, having its feeling once more. As if a gun shot its metaphorical bullet, the two rushed towards one another, with Calico ready to use Harvard's own spells against him. A key detail was noted for the Card Magician, as he'd try to start with a clothesline across his neck, followed by a grapple around his arm to break it clean off. From what he saw against the monsters, none of them were capable of attaining any new spells to use against the opponent. This would most likely be a balance issue, due to them already having an absurd amount of strength, requiring outside forces to support them if they ever wish to get stronger. As a result, because of Harvard being back to his monster self, he is unable to even use his own cards to fight back, leaving the board to be a canvas for the Pirates.
Anne would follow closely behind Harvard, grabbing most of her spells back as she rolled her die over and over again, shooting wave upon wave of bullets, a collage of colors with varying effects swarming against Calico, injecting him with different properties. Fire, Lightning, Ice, Winds, even other styles of magic such as Gravity and Poisons, all of which were shot straight into his body, having it react violently with the different properties fighting amongst one another, scarring his stomach and chest as a result. Calico, however, was smart in his movements, letting the Clothesline hit so that he would be propelled far away, allowing him to snag spells off of the farther corners, one of which being a Potion to heal his wounds, and a vial that served as a vaccine against any magical effects implanted upon him. He'd run across the board, kicking his die to make it count as a roll as he sprinted off, slamming at the Magician with hands of different sizes and shapes, ranging from Fire, Ice, and Lightning to a Spring-like Coil and a Solid metal. As he did so, Harvard would utilize one of the abilities Osiris possessed, grabbing ahold of the arms and consuming them through the bandages, absorbing them so he can blast the condensed energy straight back in a solid beam, forcing Calico to dodge and attain Numbers of God, a barrier that quickly locked away the Card Magician from attacking for a short period.
Anne would pick up the slack, allowing Saber to flank him on his right, creating swords and axes amongst the ground to limit his movement and prevent him from getting anymore spaces, whilst creating a scimitar-like blade on its mouth to carve across his chest. The First Mate would also snag a few more spells, recognizing Stolas' stars and firing them out as projectiles from her flintlocks, constellations of varying shapes barraging him as much as he could. Despite such heavy damages, he somehow hasn't lost a bit of his health. Curious, Anne would wait for the smoke to clear, seeing that Calico attained the Monster Seal once more, utilizing the stars as fuel to empower it, having him take a single step to his right to summon his beast, a green glow escaping from the marking, lightning crackled across the island, a hand emerging from the light. Anne would rush across the area to find a spell willing to break Harvard out of his containment, a de-spell to break the barrier, having to dodge the bolts of lightning that nearly reached across her body, curving herself and rolling across the golden ground to finally reach it. As soon as the barrier broke, Harvard would use Osiris once more, now grabbing ahold of the land and raising it, molding the ground to be a platform to go up above, before throwing himself down to strike at the beast before it even has a chance of coming out.
Calico, however, would think otherwise, rolling his die and rushing through to attain both Sabnock and a spell depicting small raindrops, a cannon forged from the Sigil, blasting at the boy with a condensed ball of water for its bullet. Harvard would be forced to swat it back, wasting his time by a second, having the Monster come out and slap him across the island into one of its corners, having his body being neutralized further. While he was aware the attack from the cannon wouldn't do much damage, it pushing him slightly off course would result in missing his attack altogether and leaving his body wide open for another, being infected with the rain's ability, temporarily nulling any magic casted from Osiris, forcing him to either wait it out or attack in physical means. He'd stare up towards the behemoth, another angel before him, one that was solid yellow with thunder booming out from its body, its wings crackling with electricity, its metallic arms charged and ready.
Sandalphon.
Harvard would waste no time in trying to fight back, sprinting towards the Monster in order to try and break its screen with a direct punch, followed by using the shattered glass to secure his footing in order to punch the metallic frame off. Sandalphon would be quick on materializing lighting and thunder to strike down the Child immediately upon construction, yet despite the continuous damage, he still stood. Deities began to form around the star, peppering the Angel of Malkuth with a variety of attacks through his punches, each one creating a thunderous boom again and again, slowly but surely regaining his abilities as he pummeled the beast away. Calico and Anne both watched on as the angel would be forced to tank such hits, trying desperately to counterattack, yet Harvard showed no further reaction, his focus keen on destroying the enemies forces. As his power was pushed further and further to barrage the Angel, the two understood exactly why it was so expensive to even summon such a beast, why he went on such a tangent to its brute force.
Osiris' main ability is to utilize the entire pantheon of Egypt itself. The figures that hovered around the sun were the Ennead, as well as other deities serving alongside the main nine. His abilities were akin to the gods themselves, from Geb in shaping the land, to Ra in making the sun. Despite such an overwhelming presence, Calico cannot help but smile still.
In a weird way, he felt honored to be bested by such a beast. To face off a foe worth dying, even if such a finale was a quick one.
