Chapter 47: Beneath the Ruins

Kael and Saren stepped cautiously into the ruins of **Veldrath.** The ground beneath them was cracked and lifeless, the air thick with an eerie stillness.

Something **ancient** lingered here.

The abyssal fragment in Kael's hand pulsed, guiding him forward. **It knew the way.**

Saren glanced around, her fingers tight around her sword hilt. "I hate this place," she muttered.

Kael nodded. "You're not alone."

The ruins stretched before them—**crumbled stone walls, broken statues, and massive pillars half-buried in the earth.** Strange symbols were carved into the rock, their meanings long forgotten.

Kael traced his fingers over one of the markings. **The abyss had been here before.**

And now, it was calling him deeper.

### **The Descent**

They moved cautiously through the ruins, following a path that led toward the largest structure—a colossal stone temple, its entrance sealed by a massive door covered in abyssal carvings.

Kael stepped closer, the fragment in his palm glowing faintly.

Saren sighed. "Please don't say we have to go inside that creepy thing."

Kael smirked. "We have to go inside that creepy thing."

Saren groaned. "Why do I even ask?"

Kael pressed his hand against the door. The abyssal fragment flared with dark energy, and the carvings **reacted**—shifting and rearranging, as if alive.

A deep **rumble** echoed through the ruins.

The door **opened.**

Beyond it, **a dark staircase spiraled downward into the earth.**

Saren peered down into the abyss. "You know what? I suddenly have an urge to turn around."

Kael stepped forward. "Too late now."

They descended into the darkness.

### **The Forgotten Chamber**

The deeper they went, the colder it became. **The walls were lined with abyssal symbols,** flickering with faint blue light. The air felt… alive.

Then, they reached it.

A massive underground chamber, its ceiling lost in shadows. At the center stood a **monolithic stone door**, covered in chains of dark metal. The abyssal energy radiating from it was **overwhelming.**

Kael took a sharp breath.

**This was the seal.**

The same one from his visions.

Saren stepped beside him. "Okay. You've led us here. Now tell me—what the hell is behind that thing?"

Kael didn't answer immediately.

Because the abyss was already whispering to him.

*"Release me."*

His fingers tightened around the fragment.

He had come for answers.

But now… he wasn't sure if he was ready for them.
