Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 658: Virtual Universe: The Dominant Human Race

--

Just like in his home world, the Primitive Universe has its own virtual universe as well.

Its function was almost the same as the one he knew; it brings people together regardless of distance. The glaring difference is that humans are everywhere here; only a handful of foreign races could be seen roaming the virtual streets, and even then, most of them carried human bloodlines or were humanoid in shape.

Being away from home (figuratively), Cedric's instincts tend to reach out to the things he could recognize or was familiar with. And undoubtedly, the Virtual Universe was one of them.

There were a few surprises waiting for him, though.

As he went online on the Virtual Universe of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm for the first time, he was greeted by the disembodied voice of an AI. It knew that it was his first time going online and patiently explained what he could do inside the virtual world.

It wasn't really his first time, but he listened nonetheless. This was a different world from what he knew, after all.

After taking note of a few key differences in the rules and regulations within the virtual world, he was given freedom to explore on his own.

But instead of choosing a hub world for introductions, Cedric instead got a personal virtual dimension all for his own use, courtesy of the Golden Bangle Bank.

As it stands, the Golden Bangle Bank was one of the big partners of the creators of the virtual universe, so it's only normal for them to have a few personal benefits for their members.

And since Cedric was a Scarlet VIP, his benefits were extravagant.

One has to know that even though this was all virtual, there are certain things here that hold value in the real world. The Virtual Universe itself was created by experts who had extreme powers that could rewrite reality as they pleased...or so they say.

If Cedric wanted to, he could start a virtual business firm in this personal dimension of his. And if he's smart enough about it, he could potentially earn a lot through passive income.

Not that he needed to, of course. He's incredibly rich now after inheriting Architect Columbus' things, after all.

Obviously, there are still a lot of things he could do with his personal dimension, but these are things that he will explore slowly as days go on.

Right now, his main goal was to understand the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm so that he could gain a firm foothold as soon as possible.

Even though being a Scarlet VIP of the Golden Bangle Bank gave him enormous benefits and privileges, he couldn't deny that he's still a stranger to this realm. Not even his new status could change that.

Humans are strange creatures. A stranger will remain a stranger to them unless the other party takes the initiative to integrate themselves within the group, and this is even if both parties were humans to begin with.

Cedric didn't want to be alienated permanently; that would ruin his future plans. He needs to earn his place here, and being a Scarlet VIP was a great leap towards that goal, but it's not enough.

Cedric finished learning all the things he could do in his personal dimension. But aside from building a virtual home and establishing a passage to the nearby hub worlds, Cedric mostly left it as is.

It wouldn't be too late to change it at a later date, so that's fine for now.

He then paid a visit to the nearby hub world, where he discovered the sheer amount of humans roaming around.

It's such a strange sight because the virtual universe he knew previously was mostly dominated by other creatures, not humans. But here, it's the other way around.

Here, humans were dominant. And while most of them were ordinary people just minding their own business, Cedric could sense their racial pride. And this was made even more obvious when he saw how the foreign races kept their presence and their heads low as they walked around in a figurative manner.

As he walked around, he discovered that most of the foreign races here worked for humans. Some were couriers, others were servants, and a few did business but were extremely 'reasonable' to their human customers. Essentially, all of them were trying to curry favor with humans; some were even desperate for it for some reason.

He recalled Cade's memories and learned why it's like this, and the reason was actually very simple. It's just because humans are stronger than them.

Humans, Demon Beasts, and the Horde. These are three forces that competed for hegemony in all five known Chaos Realms of the Primitive Universes. The rest of the foreign races could only choose a camp to join. Neutrality exists only in idea here, friend or foe; those are the only two statuses quo.

The foreign creatures he sees here should be the tribes that the human races conquered along the way as they carved out their place in this chaos realm. These creatures couldn't afford to provoke the human race because if they did, they'd become extinct by tomorrow.

Here, humans were too strong. So, the only way for them to live was to become servants. And honestly, so long as they stayed loyal to humans, their life wouldn't be so bad. Because even though humans are scary to them, they're also far more generous compared to the demon beasts, who would just enslave them and use them as breeding tools, or the Horde, who would just outright devour them.

That's why the majority of alien tribes chose to surrender to humans instead.

All of this was so different from the scene at his home, though, where it's generally the other way around, and honestly, he doesn't know what to feel just yet.

Cedric continued walking around, just experiencing what it's like to be at a world purely dominated by humans.

Even though all of this was just virtual scenes, it still gave him a sense of security. Yes, everybody here was a stranger to him, but knowing that they were his kin gave him a sense of safety.

And honestly, he was enjoying this anonymity.

He wasn't eye-catching here. He was just an ordinary man going along with the flow. Nobody stops to appreciate or confront him; everybody is focused on their tasks and too lazy to care about other people's business, unless that's their duty.

Cedric decided to enjoy some of the things that the virtual world offers.

He visited shops, ate virtual food, watched some movies, visited parks, took pictures, listened to gossip, etc. He did all sorts of mundane things, and honestly, it was relaxing for him.

After that, he decided to visit the Virtual Arena.

The Virtual Arena was one of the most popular places that people went to in the virtual universe. It's all about hot-blooded and exciting battles here. One could either participate by stepping on the stage or by simply watching.

Cedric decided to watch for now. He's not in a hurry to spar with others right away. He wanted to see the differences in skills personally first.

His privilege as a Scarlet VIP strikes again. Cedric gets to have a private room all for himself. The room was spacious enough to be called a house; it even had a bed and other furniture. It also provided a clear view of the battle below. There's a system interface here that showed the public profiles of the combatants and real-time analysis of their battles too.

Hell, he could even place bets and compete with other VIPs for an added thrill. And if he was truly pushing it, he could even meet with the combatants themselves and be their sponsor.

Of course, this was all limited to the virtual universe. There can be agreements that could be honored in the real world, but nothing too excessive. Virtual is virtual, real is real. A clear distinction is necessary when it comes to these things.

Cedric had no interest in sponsoring, though. He's just here to watch the fight. Having a room like this was already excessive in his opinion, but he's certainly not complaining.

He tuned in mid-fight. There were two Grand Solar Warrior realm experts fighting below.

The fight was intense. Since this was the virtual world, holding back was unnecessary. No combatants will truly die, so every participant unleashed their killing moves as they pleased.

To them, this serves as another way to train because everyone's virtual avatar was modeled after their real bodies, and it had been proven multiple training skills in the virtual world were reflected in the real world too.

This is what made the Virtual Arena popular.

The fight was fierce and exciting. And even though Cedric had only seen one so far, he already discovered a few differences here that piqued his interest; this alone made his visit here worth it.

And so, Cedric watched more fights.

Even though he's watching a fight beneath his level, Cedric still managed to learn a thing or two from it. Some even inspired him enough to make him stand up and try it himself in the room he's in.

But just as he expected, the inheritance of the human race of the Primitive Universe was truly profound.
