Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 665: Giant Axe vs. Giant Sword

--

Clang! Boom!

The ruined ancient battlefield shook fiercely as Cedric and his opponent clashed.

Origin Energy flared wildly, and the environment screamed. Their clash was nothing short of titanic; they're using so much force that it threatens the stability of the world they're in.

The fierce man who wielded a giant axe lost count of how many times he and his opponent's steel clashed. Throughout his entire history of fighting in the virtual arena, there were only a select group of people who could match him like this, blow for blow; he wasn't expecting to meet one of them today.

Usually, it's either he overwhelms his opponent through sheer force and dominance, or he gets overwhelmed instead, or sometimes cheated. He has won more matches than he has lost, and he has gained some fame amongst the fans of the virtual arena.

However, this time, his opponent really gave him a surprise. Because even amongst the people who could meet his steel in the middle, this one was the most stable of them all.

He and Cedric have clashed for more than a hundred rounds at this point, and he was certainly holding nothing back. Their force was so strong that the already ruined battlefield was ruined even more.

Nobody has pushed him this far. If this were any of his previous opponents, they would've retreated by now at least or would have been outright defeated, but not this one, it seems.

The fierce man saw Cedric as a gigantic tree, firmly rooted in his position. And no matter how many times he hacked him with his giant axe, the blades were unable to penetrate even the outermost layer of his bark.

More importantly, this tree can fight back, and it's just as domineering as he was.

Cedric's sword was so sharp that it sliced through his dominance and his destruction. The flames he summoned were so hot that even the heat of the sun pales in comparison.

Not even once did Cedric retreat. No amount of force he unleashed was able to push him back. Cedric stayed still and stood tall on the same spot he was in right from the very beginning of this fight and met the fierce man's assault in the middle.

Despite being stuck like this, though, the fierce man will admit that this fight was nothing short of refreshing.

When was the last time he met someone like this? Someone who could match his ferocity in their own way? When was the last time he had such a satisfying match? Always read at the source—MV@LEMP@YR.

He could no longer recall, and right now, it's not important. All he wanted to do was to lose himself in this fight and enjoy it while he could.

Who cares whether he wins or loses? The result has no impact in reality, so why should he care so much?

And thus, the fierce man completely unleashed his inhibitions for the first time in a long while.

Roar!!!

He unleashed a barbaric warcry that shook the world. His dominating intent flared wildly and exerted more influence on his surroundings.

Cedric could literally feel how the world surrendered to his will, allowing him to direct and use it according to how he pleased. His destruction laws also climbed to the skies, tainting the heavens with a depressing and terrifying hue that seemingly wanted to reduce everything to nihility.

Beneath his mask, Cedric's lips showed a small smile. He didn't say a word, but his actions said all that needed to be said.

He gripped his sword tighter and took a step forward.

Behind him, the silhouette of a titanic sword rose from the ground, seemingly responding to the calamity before him.

The emergence of the sword was accompanied by a sharp whistling sound, one that pierces the eardrums. In addition, the sword itself was bathing in golden flames, which also released a terrifying heat that caused the atmosphere to turn dry.

Through this response, the battlefield was suddenly split into two sides. One side was the destructive side of the fierce man, and the other was for Cedric.

The two sides measured each other with gazes for a bit, then without any further preamble, they lifted their weapons and began their clash once more.

The fierce man swung his giant axe with both hands, putting his back and all of his momentum into this one swing. The world howled around him, and it seemed like the heaven and the earth were moving alongside him.

In response to this, Cedric stabbed his sword forward. The titanic sword behind him also did, looking as if it was the heavens themselves that sent this sword down to punish evil. The sharp whistling sound emitted by the sword became louder and more piercing; the flames accompanying it flared even wilder and released an even more ferocious heat that melted everything it touched.

BOOM!

Their clash was so intense that the world lost colors for a bit. The sounds, the atmosphere, space, time, and even reality itself warped because of their clash.

A clash like this was devastating to any world they could be in. Fortunately, this was all just a virtual world where they could truly let loose without any worries.

The clash caused irreversible damage to the world they're in. If this world were in reality, it'd never be the same again after this fight.

Once the smoke cleared, both fighters could be seen still standing in their respective spots. Both still held on to their weapons and were still locked in a fierce struggle despite not truly meeting physically due to the distance.

The giant axe paused mid-swing, and the titanic sword was struggling to move an inch forward.

There was a special phenomenon occurring in the space where the two of them were. It's the result of their concept laws and intents clashing and mixing with each other. However, this phenomenon failed to do anything harmful or disturbing to either party. They probably didn't even notice it.

The fierce man clenched his jaws and growled angrily, using all of his remaining strength to complete his swing. Alas, the titanic sword in front of him was too sharp and heavy, in addition to being too hot as well.

He could literally feel his origin energy drying up at an alarming rate because of this terrifying heat, which greatly reminded him why those who wielded the power of the Great Law of Fire were terrifying.

And the sharpness of the sword wasn't to be scoffed at either. Sword laws have always stood at the peak of combat laws in humanity. Comprehending it was difficult, but advancing it was even more so, but everybody who cultivated it never once complained or regretted learning it. Everyone who invested in the Sword Laws knew that it will always be worth it.

That, and this opponent also comprehended their own Sword Intent. While Sword Intent wasn't really a separate entity from the Sword Laws, not everybody who comprehended Sword Laws had it.

It wouldn't be wrong to say that one couldn't truly be considered to have mastered the sword without condensing their sword intent.

But that's easier said than done. The standards of the Primitive Universe had always been strict and demanding.

Sword Intent, Great Law of Sword and Fire. What a lethal combination indeed.

More importantly, in terms of merging laws, Cedric absolutely had the upper hand compared to the fierce man because these weren't the only Great Laws he comprehended. Cedric had always been experimenting on his own by merging multiple laws. So in terms of mastery in this aspect, only a handful of people could be considered as his peers.

And the man before him wasn't one of those, sadly.

Boom!

Cedric took another step forward, the second movement he deliberately made since the start of this fight.

He drove the sword even deeper, exerting more force than before. As a result, his influence caused the world to cave in.

His sword intent finally pierced the shell of the fierce man's destruction laws and dominating intent. His resistance fell apart once the sword began invading his domain.

The fierce man tried to salvage the situation by swinging his giant axe once more and stabilizing his domain, but the sharpness of Cedric's sword was like leeches that refused to detach from his skin.

And like a hot knife through butter, literally, the titanic sword descended even further and pierced the fierce man through. Its sharpness and its heat utterly and completely evaporated the other party.

[Victory!]

Upon seeing this message, Cedric drew his sword back. The titanic silhouette of the sword behind him fizzled out of existence.

"Good fight."

For his first match at the Immortal League, that truly wasn't that bad. Nobody from the previous league managed to push Cedric that far before. The fierce man was strong, and it made Cedric wonder if all of the next matches will be just as intense as this one.

Meanwhile, at a distant star sector. The fierce man's consciousness returned to his body from the virtual world; he woke up with a startled gasp as his memories returned to him.

He lost.

He looked around and saw that the people around him were all looking at him weirdly. He could guess that all of them never imagined that the match would result this way.

"PUHAHAHAHAHAH!"

But instead of feeling depressed and disappointed, the fierce man laughed instead. And it was a heartfelt and truly satisfied laugh that he had not had in a very long while.
