Era of Players: Death God

Chapter 258: The Ones Chasing Behind 1

A silver light flared within the teleportation circle, illuminating the white expanse of the first dungeon floor. When the light faded, Lilith stood in the snow, her black cloak billowing slightly in the icy wind.

Her amber eyes scanned the landscape, taking in the towering mountains and frost-covered trees. The world before her was a frozen domain of silence, save for the occasional whisper of the wind. Unlike most, she felt no discomfort from the cold. Her mana naturally adjusted, a thin layer of warmth spreading over her skin.

She closed her eyes for a moment, activating Presence Detection.

A pulse of mana spread outward like a silent wave, revealing the locations of every creature within a one-kilometer radius. She felt them—Ice Ogres, Frost Wolves, Snow Serpents, and more—lurking in the wintry wilderness.

Her hand tightened around the hilt of her sword. It was time to begin.

Lilith moved like a shadow in the snow, her presence barely registering to the monsters until it was too late.

The first enemy she encountered was a Frost Wolf Pack, six of them circling in the distance. Their piercing blue eyes locked onto her, their breath steaming in the cold.

One of them, the alpha.

The alpha Frost Wolf stood at the front of the pack, its massive form tense, muscles coiled beneath thick white fur. Its icy blue eyes locked onto Lilith as a deep growl rumbled from its throat, sending signals to its packmates. Within moments, the wolves spread out, surrounding her in a predatory formation.

Lilith simply exhaled.

With a flick of her wrist, she unsheathed her sword. The black blade glimmered in the pale light, its surface reflecting the snow-covered terrain.

The alpha lunged first, its fangs bared—but Lilith was faster.

She sidestepped with a swift motion, her blade whipping through the air. A clean arc. The wolf's head separated from its body before it even realized what had happened. Blood splattered onto the white snow as its body collapsed.

The other wolves hesitated.

That was all she needed.

Wind and Space magic swirled around her. She vanished from her spot, reappearing behind the second wolf. A single stab—straight through the skull.

Before the others could react, she was already on the move, her fluid, precise swordsmanship cutting through the remaining wolves like a silent storm. Each movement was practiced, calculated—no unnecessary effort, no wasted motion.

In less than twenty seconds, the entire pack was dead.

Lilith flicked the blood off her blade and continued forward, her expression unchanged.

The dungeon was vast, its white forest stretching endlessly across the land. Lilith moved through it at a steady pace, her Presence Detection guiding her toward stronger monsters.

Ice Ogres fell beneath her sword, their hulking bodies unable to keep up with her speed while Snow Serpents attempted to ambush her from the trees, but a simple burst of Wind Magic sent them crashing down, where they met their end with a precise strike.

There weren't the only ones, Frost Golems, towering beings of enchanted ice, shattered beneath a concentrated Space Slash that tore through their cores.

With each battle, she analyzed the enemy weaknesses, adjusted her tactics, and moved forward without hesitation.

Within four hours, she reached the gate to the second floor.

She stepped forward, the magic circle activating beneath her feet, and in a flash of light—she was gone.

The second floor was harsher, colder, deadlier.

The moment Lilith arrived, the temperature plummeted even further. Jagged glacier cliffs loomed over the landscape, their surfaces reflecting the pale blue sky like fractured mirrors.

More powerful monsters roamed this floor—Elite Frost Trolls, Blizzard Raptors, and even Lesser Ice Drakes.

Lilith wasted no time.

Her battle with the Blizzard Raptors was a blur of speed and aerial combat. The raptors were fast, their wings allowing them to maneuver unpredictably, but Lilith's Wind Magic allowed her to move just as freely. She met them in the air, her blade cutting through their icy feathers before they even had a chance to react.

The Frost Trolls were tougher, their thick ice armor deflecting normal attacks. But Lilith had no need for brute force. Instead, she used Space Magic to teleport past their defenses, striking their vulnerable points—eyes, joints, necks. The towering creatures fell, one after another.

Finally, she encountered a Lesser Ice Drake.

The beast, though smaller than a true dragon, was still formidable. Its breath attack could freeze solid rock, and its claws could tear through steel. But Lilith was undeterred.

She dodged its frost breath with precision, danced around its attacks, and struck at the gaps in its icy scales. The battle lasted several minutes, but in the end—her blade pierced its heart.

The drake collapsed with a final, shuddering breath.

She stood over the corpse, exhaling slowly. This floor was cleared.

With steady steps, she moved toward the portal leading to the third floor.

In just ten hours, Lilith had conquered two floors, her pace relentless.

She wasn't here to rest.

She was chasing someone.

And soon, she would catch up.

Lilith wandered through the frozen landscape, her sharp amber eyes scanning the terrain for any sign of water. The second floor of the dungeon was a vast expanse of glacial cliffs and icy plains, but she knew that somewhere amidst the towering frozen spires, there had to be a natural spring or lake.

After several minutes of searching, she finally found it—a hidden, crystalline lake nestled between two massive ice formations. The water was a perfect, translucent blue, mirroring the towering ice cliffs that surrounded it. A thin mist hovered above the surface, giving the lake an almost ethereal beauty. Despite its frozen appearance, the water was pristine, untouched by anything but nature itself.

Lilith stepped forward, her breath visible in the frigid air. The cold didn't bother her much—her mana control allowed her to regulate her body temperature, but even so, an ice bath would test her endurance. She reached down, dipping her fingers into the water. A sharp chill ran through her fingertips, spreading up her arm, but she remained unfazed.
