Era of Players: Death God

Chapter 279: Arthur and Ilya 2

Arthur and Ilya emerged from the chaotic remnants of the ninth floor, their breaths coming in heavy gasps as they stepped into the pristine whiteness of the tenth floor. The icy landscape stretched out before them, an almost surreal sight after the fierce battles they had just fought. The air was crisp, and the ground was covered in a blanket of untouched snow, but beneath that beauty lay a tension that hinted at the challenge ahead.

"Stay alert," Arthur said, his voice steady as he scanned the area. "If the patterns hold, we should expect something formidable here."

Ilya nodded, her eyes sharp as she surveyed the surroundings. "I can feel it too. We're not alone," she replied, gripping her spear tightly. They both knew that the last floor of the dungeon would not go quietly.

As they moved cautiously through the icy expanse, the sounds of growling and snarling echoed from the shadows, and they quickly spotted the hulking figures of two Bloody Orcs emerging from the mists. The creatures were massive, their crimson skin contrasting violently with the white landscape, and they carried enormous cleavers that glinted ominously in the light.

"Just our luck," Arthur said, a grin spreading across his face despite the gravity of the situation. "Looks like we have some company."

Ilya smirked, her expression fierce. "Let's show them what we're made of."

Without waiting for a response, the pair charged forward, their weapons raised high. Arthur activated his Light abilities, summoning a radiant glow around his sword as he prepared to face the first Bloody Orc. The creature roared in defiance, its eyes filled with primal fury as it swung its cleaver down toward him.

With a swift sidestep, Arthur dodged the attack, countering with a powerful slash of his own. "Light Slash!" he shouted, the energy from his sword slicing through the air and connecting with the orc's side. The creature howled in pain, staggering back as Arthur pressed the attack.

Ilya joined him, her spear dancing through the air as she lunged at the second Bloody Orc. She channeled her curse magic, slowing the creature's movements as she thrust her weapon forward. "Curse Spear!" she shouted, the energy wrapping around the orc's legs and causing it to stumble.

The first Bloody Orc roared in anger and charged at Arthur again, who raised his shield just in time to absorb the impact of its cleaver. Arthur felt the force of the blow reverberate through his body, but he stood firm, pushing back against the creature with all his strength.

"Now, Ilya!" he called, creating an opening for her to strike.

Ilya took advantage of the distraction, weaving around the first orc and launching a powerful thrust at the second. Her spear glimmered with cursed energy as she aimed for the creature's exposed flank, striking true. The orc howled in pain, its fury only growing as it swung wildly at her.

"Watch out!" Arthur shouted as the first Bloody Orc regained its footing, its cleaver aimed directly at Ilya. He rushed forward, using his shield to block the incoming attack just as it swung down.

"Thanks!" Ilya said, her expression fierce as she turned to face the first orc. "Let's finish this!"

With renewed vigor, they worked in perfect harmony, alternating between offense and defense. Arthur would distract one orc while Ilya struck at the other, their movements fluid and precise. They had fought side by side long enough to know how to complement each other's strengths.

As the battle raged on, the Orcs began to coordinate their attacks, their primal instincts kicking in as they charged at the duo with renewed fervor. Arthur felt the pressure mounting as he faced the onslaught, but he refused to back down.

"Gale Force!" he shouted, summoning a powerful gust of wind that pushed the orcs back momentarily. The force of the wind created a barrier that gave them a moment to regroup.

"Now's our chance!" Ilya yelled, her voice cutting through the chaos.

With a fierce battle cry, they pressed the attack. Ilya summoned her curse magic once more, wrapping the nearest orc in dark tendrils that slowed its movements. Arthur charged forward, wielding his sword with precision as he aimed for the creature's heart.

"Light Fury!" he shouted, unleashing a flurry of strikes that illuminated the battlefield with radiant energy. Each blow was enhanced by the light, cutting through the orc's defenses as it let out pained roars.

But the second Bloody Orc was not finished yet. It charged at Ilya, swinging its cleaver with reckless abandon. She ducked low, rolling to the side as the weapon sliced through the air above her. As she sprang back to her feet, she focused her energy, activating her strongest curse magic.

"Shadow Bind!" she called, summoning dark tendrils that erupted from the ground, ensnaring the second orc's legs and holding it in place.

"Perfect!" Arthur shouted, rushing to her side. Together, they pressed their advantage, combining their attacks to overwhelm the two Bloody Orcs.

With a final, coordinated effort, Arthur and Ilya launched their ultimate abilities in unison. "Tempest Slash!" they both shouted, their voices echoing through the icy expanse as they channeled their energy into one powerful strike.

The combined force of their attacks surged forward, a wave of light and dark energy that crashed into the Bloody Orcs. The impact was explosive, sending a shockwave through the air as the two creatures were engulfed in the brilliance of their combined powers.

As the dust settled, Lilith stood amidst the remnants of the battle, breathing heavily but victorious. The pristine white floor was now marred by the chaos they had unleashed, and the air was thick with the scent of sweat and adrenaline.

Arthur wiped the sweat from his brow, a triumphant smile spreading across his face as he looked at Ilya. "We did it!" he exclaimed, his heart racing with exhilaration.

"Of course we did," she replied, her own smile matching his. "We're unstoppable together."

With a sense of accomplishment, they took a moment to catch their breath, the thrill of victory still coursing through them. But they knew their journey wasn't over yet. They had conquered the tenth floor, but there were still challenges ahead, and they were determined to see it through together.
