Chapter 919: Topaz Universe

The doll floated back towards its universe named Topaz, ranked ninety-seventh in the universe ranking; even though the ranking might seem low since there are only a hundred universes in this ranking, the power of this universe was still quite high. The way to measure the strength of the higher beings, the emperors of the universes, was decided by all to be expressed in stars—a person reaching one star means he had become capable enough to be the emperor of an average universe, and the strength of one star was set by all the universes. Zendax in his prime had reached one star, and increasing strength after that became increasingly difficult if they just stayed in their own universe, since they had already obtained what their universe had to give them; then, if they wanted to increase their strength, they would have to conquer and plunder other universes and gain more energy and power. Of course, each star has a vast distance between them, so they are further broken into three levels—low, mid, and high; after passing the high level, a person could reach the next star level. When Zendax fought, he had just arrived at the one-star level, even below the low level of one star, while at that time the world devourer was already at the high level of one star, about to break through to the two-star level. It was an almost impossible feat, considering he had never even left his own universe; that was why Zendax was extremely shocked at that time and felt threatened by the powers of the world devourer—he knew if such a monster began to conquer other universes, then he alone would be enough to eradicate most universes. But the world devourer chose to reincarnate instead. If at that time he had chosen to abandon his loved ones and his own universe and pursue strength, then he would already be at the top of the world ranking; he had to make a choice—either staying there and eventually dying at the hands of a stronger foe or abandoning everything and pursuing power—but he made the strangest choice. Even though Zendax wasn't exactly sure why the world devourer had chosen to reincarnate—yes, it had remained hidden for quite some time in the universe—but that universe was still so weak. Yet Zendax was sure that that monster must have planned something dangerous and astronomical, and if Jayden had been left alive, then disaster would have enveloped Topaz and many other universes one day. "It's a good thing that I was able to bring him down even if I had to sacrifice everything and become this insignificant doll; anyway, I can gain everything again slowly—sigh—but the other two generals are going to mock me to no end now, seeing my appearance." Zendax mumbled to himself as, after almost two and a half years of travel, he finally arrived at his own universe. The Topaz universe was covered by a vast layer of protective barrier created by the emperor; it was at least ten to twenty times larger than the nameless universe he had just returned from. Unlike that weak universe, the Topaz universe seemed to be filled with a thick energy that permeated all across space. There was no darkness; instead, everything was filled with a milky light formed from the thick energy. It was truly magnificent and lavish—there were a lot of planets, even the smallest planet was much bigger than the biggest planet of the nameless universe. As Zendax flew closer, he relished the familiar energy. He stopped right outside the boundary of the universe, and instantly several guards watching over the barrier came rushing towards him. "Identify yourself, or you will be killed since you have approached within the proximity of the Topaz universe," one of the guards spoke. All of them had yellow skin with only one eye on their faces, while their body structures were similar to humans except their long backs, which were almost twice in length, making their overall height seem high. "It is me, the Third General!" Zendax spoke in an arrogant tone that didn't match his current body at all. The guards were stunned, but after they sensed his presence, they knelt respectfully. "General, please forgive us for not recognizing you," one of the guards spoke, with some fear in his voice; they didn't dare look up at him. Even a general is meant to rule a universe, since they are at least at the one-star level. Zendax tried to act tough, but years of being away—and now this powerless form—had truly weakened his self-esteem, not to mention what Jayden had made him go through before death was so humiliating. "It's all right, bring me inside to meet the Emperor; I have important news to share with him." Zendax spoke, and the guards, while remaining in the same position, replied: "Yes, General, please enter." Then they hastily opened a path through the barrier, and two of the guards led him inside the enormous universe; the guards that stayed behind began to mumble among themselves, commenting on Zendax's current condition, but he couldn't do anything and only continued to move. After passing through the barrier, they moved to an altar present right inside the boundary. Following behind the two guards, the wooden doll floated as they passed through a spatial gate that led directly to the biggest and main planet of the Topaz universe, where only the strongest beings resided. "General, we will return to our duty at the barrier if there are no other orders," the two guards said, kneeling respectfully. "You can leave," Zendax spoke with a wave of his woody hand, then he looked around at the place he used to live. The whole land was covered by white marble; there were countless majestic buildings and magical things, strange creatures floated across the air, and distant cries of battle could be heard every now and then. "I am finally back after such a long time; I almost believed that I would die this time." Zendax released a long breath, feeling the air of his house. He also felt proud at having escaped death both times. "Oh, if it isn't our little Zendax, when did you return?" A playful tone sounded out of nowhere as suddenly a giant man, over ten feet tall, appeared in front of the insignificant doll. "Second General, please act according to your status," Zendax spoke, trying to act firmly, but his current state made him appear as a joke. "Yes, yes, so when did our little Third General return from conquering that nameless universe in this magnificent form?" the Second General laughed heartily while speaking. His entire body seemed to be made of lightning and it constantly kept changing shape; sometimes his face would look human while suddenly he resembled a beast. "I have to talk to the Emperor immediately; there is important news that I must convey," Zendax said, holding back his anger. "Hmmm, so not only did you fail to complete your task even after such a long time, but you got the entire army killed and lost all your strength—the show is going to be very fun," the Second General said, his smile twisting beyond normal as he spoke. ________----________ Thanks for reading and have a great day, adios 😴 more chapters coming soon
