Escape from Destiny: I am Michael Scofield

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Mind Behind the Plan

"What would you do if you knew everything that was going to happen before it even happened?"

The question seemed to echo in my mind, along with the memory of a truck coming towards me, blinding headlights and... nothing else.

Until now.

My head was pounding. I slowly opened my eyes and was faced with a white wall. The smell of fresh paint mixed with metal filled my nostrils. I sat up suddenly, feeling a strange weight on my body. My hands... They weren't mine. Not the way I remembered them. They were stronger, more defined. I looked around. A desk, stacks of papers, a structural model, and a mirror on the wall.

I stood up and staggered to the mirror. My heart raced. Michael Scofield was staring back at me.

"No, it can't be... Is this a dream?"

My reflection didn't respond.

Panic began to set in when a translucent blue screen flashed in my vision, in the best style of RPGs and webnovels that I read.

I blinked, trying to take it all in at once.

I was reincarnated as Michael Scofield. Me. In the world of Prison Break.

And my first mission? Survive.

"Fuck..."

The blue screen disappeared, but the words remained etched in my mind.

I was in Prison Break. As Michael Scofield.

This meant I was in episode one. In other words, I was still at large. My plan to enter Fox River to save Lincoln was still in motion.

I took a deep breath. What did I know?

I knew the entire series. I knew who would betray whom, where mistakes would happen, and most importantly, which paths would lead to an even more efficient escape. I didn't just have to follow the original plan—I could optimize it.

But first, I needed to test this System.

I quickly analyzed the information. My abilities were incredibly useful. Eidetic memory meant I could remember every detail of the series' episodes without fail. Advanced engineering would give me even more precision in my escape plan.

And manipulation level 2? I was already good at persuasion like Michael, but now it seemed like the System itself was giving me a bonus on that.

But what caught my attention the most were the side missions.

The first one was about Sara Tancredi. I already knew she would be essential in the escape, but if I gained her trust sooner, it could make things easier.

And of course... She was the female protagonist of the series. If I was going to live in that world, I saw no problem in making that relationship even more interesting.

A smile appeared on my face.

"Let's start the game."

---

I opened the drawer and found a note with the tattoo artist's address. This meant I still needed to get the tattoo.

The pain would be insane. But it would be worth it.

Before leaving, I looked at my reflection in the mirror again.

"If I get it wrong, Lincoln dies. If I get it wrong, I might end up dead. But if I do everything right... I can have the best life possible here."

I grabbed my jacket and left.

---

After scheduling the tattoo session, I did something Michael never did: I went to the clinic where Sara worked.

If my mission was to gain her trust, then I could start before I even entered Fox River.

It was a simple building, and Sara was on shift. She wore a white lab coat and was busy filling out some forms.

I took advantage of a short break and approached.

"Excuse me, Dr. Tancredi?"

She looked up and stared at me.

"Yes? How can I help?"

"My name is Michael. I was thinking about getting a health check before a trip. Just to make sure everything is okay."

She arched an eyebrow.

"You don't seem like the kind of guy who cares much about routine checkups."

"Maybe I'm just trying to impress a pretty doctor."

She was surprised for a second, but soon rolled her eyes with a small smile.

"If this is how you flirt, you need to step up your game."

+5 Charm!

My mind registered the system notification, but I pretended not to notice. I knew Sara was resistant to obvious pick-up lines, so I needed to change my approach.

"All joking aside, I really wanted to make sure I was okay. I have a bit of an... intense trip coming up."

She sighed and picked up a chart.

"Okay, Michael. Let's take a look at you."

---

After the consultation with Sara (where I took the opportunity to create a foundation for a future connection), I went straight to the tattoo artist.

The pain was absurd.

There were several sessions, several hours of suffering while my body received the maps of Fox River and the hidden codes that would help me escape.

But when I finished, I felt something different.

It was real.

I was going to prison.

And I was going to escape.

This was a new world. A new chance.

And I wasn't going to waste it.
