Chapter 3: Chapter 0003: The Ancestral Dragon’s Energy

"Searching for dragon veins? Imperial energy? True dragon energy? I can't obtain any of them. As for dragon veins, I don't know the art of locating a dragon's acupuncture points, nor am I a true son of the dragon heavens, a descendant of the imperial bloodline. This Heavenly Dragon Taming Sutra is no different than useless trash to me."

After carefully studying the mysteries of this technique, Yi Tianxing couldn't help but let out a bitter smile.

This was clearly a high-tier cultivation technique, but he couldn't cultivate it. He could see it, but couldn't practice it. The feeling was like owning unimaginable wealth but not being able to spend a single coin—truly suffocating and frustrating.

Those without top-tier techniques had nothing to fear; most of their energy seas were attribute-less. Even if they had attributes, they could still absorb elemental energy from the heavens and earth directly. All they needed was to complete the observation stage.

Observation was the first step in any technique.

Ordinary techniques required observing an invisible cluster of energy within the dantian. Eventually, a sense of energy would be born. After all, everyone possessed innate energy—present at birth and acquired through life. The breath of life represented existence. That breath was life. Advanced techniques involved observing various forms—light, water, rivers, etc.—guiding the practitioner to transform their body into light, water, or flowing rivers. Through this, dormant energy in the body could be drawn out.

This was the meaning of energy. Once extracted, one could sense the dantian and open the Divine Sea.

In the Heavenly Dragon Taming Sutra, there was also an observation method: to meditate on the Image of the Four Seas' Ancestral Dragon. As long as one observed in a place with dragon energy, they could absorb it, condense a seed of dragon energy, and open the Divine Sea. However, this technique absolutely required dragon energy—nothing else would suffice.

"There are less than three days until the apocalypse. The possibility is extremely high. This pearl allowed me to return three days into the past—why can't it allow me to embark on the path of cultivation? What a cruel joke from fate."

Yi Tianxing smiled bitterly in his heart.

He could still recall the scenes three days from now—countless demons, ghosts, and beasts descending like a tidal wave. Without the power to protect himself, he would be in grave danger. His chances of survival were slim to none.

That vision was terrifying.

It was a true heaven-grade catastrophe.

One that destroyed and annihilated all.

Even though he possessed Innate Yin-Yang Eyes, he felt no sense of safety. He had to protect not only himself but also his little sister Zhao Ziyan, and his adoptive parents. His current strength was far from enough.

He needed power—more power.

Having already lost his birth family, he refused to suffer that pain a second time.

He wanted all those dear to him to survive.

And for that, he needed great strength. Strength to defy fate—at the very least, enough to take the first step.

And this Heavenly Dragon Taming Sutra was a ladder to the heavens.

"No matter what, I have to try at least once. I won't accept failure without trying."

Yi Tianxing took a deep breath. He couldn't just let go of the Heavenly Dragon Taming Sutra within him. Even if its cultivation threshold was high, he had to try. If it didn't work, there would be no harm done anyway.

He had nothing better to do in this brief window of time.

"Observe the Image of the Four Seas' Ancestral Dragon."

Without hesitation, Yi Tianxing began the observation.

From the spiritual pearl, countless rays of light naturally burst forth, intertwining rapidly into a divine and mystical image. Within it, the Four Seas surged violently, and a vast ancestral dragon soared across the skies. Its massive body spanned tens of thousands of kilometers, with nine claws beneath it and a mighty dragon's head adorned with flowing whiskers. It radiated overwhelming majesty. It stood over the Four Seas.

It looked like the sovereign of all creation—the Emperor of the Seas.

Ruler of heaven and earth.

No one dared defy him.

"This is the Ancestral Dragon—the supreme existence in heaven and earth, the dominator of the skies."

Yi Tianxing couldn't help but feel a deep sense of awe.

Yet, he still wasn't confident that he could cultivate this supreme technique.

Woosh!!

Just as he was secretly observing the Image of the Four Seas' Ancestral Dragon, his mind instinctively fused with the dragon in the image. He imagined himself as the Ancestral Dragon, absorbing the mystical dragon energy of heaven and earth. The Ancestral Dragon opened its mouth, as if to inhale. If there were any dragon veins or true dragon energy around, they would be swallowed, refined into a seed of dragon energy, and sent to the navel to open the Divine Sea, marking entry into the Divine Sea Realm.

But if no dragon energy existed, nothing could be absorbed.

"Eh? What's that?"

As Yi Tianxing watched, his body became like the Ancestral Dragon, mouth wide open to swallow. He didn't expect anything to happen—it was just a subconscious attempt. But to his surprise, he felt a mysterious aura being drawn into the dragon's body and rapidly condensing.

"That's dragon energy!"

Yi Tianxing's mind reeled. As he inhaled again, he noticed that a strange gas emerged from the ancient stone pearl in his consciousness. It was unmistakably dragon energy.

It came from the stone pearl.

"Amazing! I didn't expect this stone pearl to contain dragon energy. As long as I absorb enough of it to condense a seed, I can open the hidden energy sea, step into the Divine Sea Realm, and begin cultivation. Once I have that foundation, I won't need pure dragon energy anymore. I can nourish it with the primordial energies of heaven and earth and continue advancing."

Yi Tianxing was overjoyed.

He thought he had acquired a treasure he couldn't use, like owning a mine he couldn't dig. But the stone pearl actually contained dragon energy—a surprise gift in a time of dire need.

The Ancestral Dragon inhaled nine full gulps of dragon energy from the pearl before reaching its limit. The energy in the pearl was completely consumed.

Roar!!

The Ancestral Dragon opened its mouth and spat out a plain, unadorned Dragon Pearl—condensed from the nine gulps of ancestral dragon energy. It was a seed—a True Dragon Seed.

The Dragon Pearl descended, falling twelve levels deep, landing directly at the navel in his lower abdomen.

This was no ordinary spot.

The navel was naturally blocked—polluted by acquired energies—and sat in a state of unawakened chaos.

But once the Dragon Pearl entered the dantian, mysterious divine light burst forth, illuminating the surrounding chaos. Wherever the light reached, the chaos melted, and a space of emptiness was formed—as if it were the first divine light breaking through the darkness of the primordial world.

But this came at a cost. As the chaos melted, the Dragon Pearl shrank rapidly, until it eventually vanished.

In its place, a Divine Sea of energy, measuring nine zhang wide, opened up. Within this sea, a wisp of multicolored chaotic gas coiled like a true dragon across the water.

Each strand of gas was dragon energy, exuding potent pressure.

"A Divine Sea of nine zhang… I don't know if that's large or small. But according to the Heavenly Dragon Taming Sutra, the next step is to constantly absorb primordial energy, refine more dragon energy, and fill the sea. Once the Divine Sea is fully filled, it marks the completion of the first stage of the Divine Sea Realm. I'll also need to break through the twelve standard meridians and the eight extraordinary ones."

Yi Tianxing's inner vision clearly saw the opened Divine Sea within his navel. Though unsure how it compared to other cultivators, he knew the path forward involved accumulating true Qi, opening the body's meridians, and breaking through the heaven and earth bridges.

Only then could the Divine Sea Realm truly advance.

For now, he had just formed his first wisp of true Qi—too little to pierce any meridians.

No need to overthink it.

"Unfortunately, there's no time. The calamity is imminent. Although I've opened the Qi Sea and entered the Divine Sea Realm as a cultivator, my strength is still too weak. A mere wisp of true dragon energy won't be enough. If only I had more time to cultivate quietly… I might become a real asset. For now, what I can rely on are my Innate Yin-Yang Eyes."

Yi Tianxing took a deep breath, withdrawing from his inner vision.

A determined glint flashed in his eyes. He had a clear understanding of his strength. Though he had opened his Qi Sea, this was just the foundation.

In this calamity, his trump card would be his innate supernatural talent—the Yin-Yang Eyes.

With a single thought, his spirit immersed itself into his eyes. Inside, black and white energy flowed, filling his pupils. This was innate Yin-Yang Qi, born with him. The source of the two pupils was unified.

Within them was an independent space, where the Yin-Yang Qi entangled itself into a black-and-white divine image. Yet Yi Tianxing could not control this image—it simply functioned on its own.

In the past, without a formal cultivation method, Yi Tianxing had relied on his own interpretation of Taoist classics and even scattered theories from the internet. He theorized a method: absorb the essence of the sun and moon to enhance the power of the Yin-Yang Eyes. The sun represented ultimate Yang, the moon ultimate Yin.

During the day, he stared at the sun; at night, the moon—absorbing solar and lunar energy.

Even without a complete technique, his pupils could extract Yin and Yang essence, converting them into two strands of Yin-Yang Qi.

It was slow and inefficient—but it worked.

And now, things were finally beginning to change.
