Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 2431: Momo's Progress

On her first attempt, Momo made a 73% pill in 7 minutes and 22 seconds.

On her second attempt, she made an 82% pill in 7 minutes and 54 seconds.

After realizing that she had ended up doing worse in terms of her time because she was focused on fixing the mistakes she made, Momo took a long break, focusing on how to improve both her time and pill quality.

After much consideration, she made the pill one last time with all her knowledge.

On her final attempt, Momo made an 86% pill, and she did it in just 7 minutes and 02 seconds.

With this being her best attempt of all three, this was the one she chose as her real attempt. She gave the details to the staff that took care of it all and walked away.

She arrived back at her hall, waiting for her new rank to show up. She had to wait a few more minutes for the competition to finally be over, at which point everyone returned to the hall and the rank was revealed for everyone to see.

She was ranked 3rd overall.

"So close," Silvermist said as he watched the ranking that had popped up. "She did so good too."

Pearl looked at the list that had appeared in the sky. There were two names above Momo's name, which he didn't recognize. They had worse quality for the pill than Momo, but they had completed it much faster than her, gaining an edge over her in the competition.

"If she was just a little faster, she could have taken the lead," he said.

"I think the others had techniques meant for quickly making pills, disregarding their quality. If there was a minimum requirement for the pills, like they had with the real Speed Test on the maze, this outcome would've looked a whole lot different."

"This is good still," Grimsight said. "Speed is her weaker side in the competition, is it not? She did well here, so she will continue to do better as time goes on."

"You're correct, brother Grim," Silvermist said. "Speaking of that, what is the next competition?"

Momo cultivated, getting ready for the Endurance Test. The test was something she had done multiple times before with her master, so she was ready for it. She had a general idea of how far she could push her own body during this competition, so it wouldn't be a problem coming out as one of the better ones.

What would be a problem was winning the entire thing.

Her eyes shifted to two men in the distance that sat beside each other, talking among themselves as if they didn't have eyes for anyone else. In the first competition, they were the ones that landed right behind her in the rankings, and in the second competition, they were in the top 10 as well.

But those two tests required knowledge and skill. The Endurance Test needed something else. It needed Qi.

You can have a lot of effective Qi by making use of it efficiently. However, you could also just have a lot of Qi by default.

Because these two cultivators were each in the Immortal realm, they sadly had the most Qi.

She would have to fight hard for the upcoming competition.

The glorious showcase of water techniques in the sky by an Immortal was finally put to an end as the time for the third competition came. They were all called onto the stage and placed in their seats.

This time around, they were told the rules of the test on the stage itself, perhaps to give them less time to prepare. To Momo's surprise, the test was harder than her master's.

Every 15 minutes, they would bring ingredients for one of the 10 pills they had chosen beforehand. They were to make the pill within the 15 minutes, and if they failed to deliver a pill within that time, they failed.

A pill would be considered delivered if it was over 50% in Harmony.

Momo wasn't sure why, but the situation felt stricter than with her master. She could partially understand that it was done to expedite the test and force everyone to do their best as quickly as they could, but it still felt harsh.

Once the rules were explained, everyone was asked to prepare for the competition's start. Once they were all ready, the competition began.

"I wish we had such an easy time," Aethersage said as he looked at the screen. "I don't think they took away their Qi, so they can cultivate all they want."

"It certainly would be helpful to be able to cultivate," Jai Heiyun said, remembering how dire the situation was back when they took their Endurance Test.

Alex looked at Momo, wondering what she was thinking. He had put a bit of pressure on her during mock tests, but the real thing was never like what he gave her.

With so many people around, he wondered if it would affect her skills at all. He went through the rules in his head, wondering if it was stricter. On first hearing, it did sound strict.

However, the pills they were making were so much easier, and they also had a very low threshold. The time was certainly lower, but who really needed 15 minutes to make a pill?

Everyone would have extra time to cultivate, even if it was for a few minutes. That should help in the end.

The competition started on the screen in front of him and he watched Momo start making the pill. She took her time with the ingredients and placed them into the cauldron at a steady pace.

Alex couldn't help but smile.

'Good girl,' he thought.

She wasn't letting nervousness get to her and remembered that in an endurance test, the most important thing was to keep your cool. Since they were there to test how long she could last, they wouldn't be testing her speed. As a result, she could take all the time she wanted.

Momo completed her first pill just 9 minutes later and handed it over. From what he could see, it seemed to be accepted. Now, she had about 5 minutes of time for herself, after which she would receive the ingredients for her second pill.

'Just take it slow and don't let your stress get to you,' Alex thought, repeating to himself what he had told her during their test.

The reason why he had failed in his Endurance Test was not his lack of Qi, but rather his lack of Spiritual Energy. If everything went right, Momo wouldn't face the same issue. She would conserve her Spiritual Energy to the best of her capacity, and thus last much longer.

'You can do it, Momo,' Alex thought. 'It's just about doing the same thing over and over again. Just focus on the task and don't let anything distract you.'

The biggest issue during this time for people who weren't used to making many pills would be the boredom of it all. The repetition got to people if they did not watch out for it.

Alex hoped he had taught Momo enough so that this would not be a problem.
