Chapter 40: Chapter 39 – The Gods’ Despair
The celestial halls, once filled with grandeur and divine majesty, now felt empty. The gods stood frozen in place, their bodies trembling, their divine essence flickering with uncertainty.
The Primordial One had left without another word.
It had acknowledged that it could do nothing to Frank Luminous.
The Supreme God clenched his fists so tightly that golden blood trickled from his palms. His once-unshakable authority now felt like a fragile illusion.
"This… This is impossible," Elvaron whispered, his voice hollow. "How could a mortal—no, a being who was once mortal—transcend even the Primordial One?"
Thalvion, the God of War, who had once led divine armies across countless realms, now felt his strength meaningless. His usual battle-hardened face was filled with disbelief.
"No one should be above the gods," he muttered. "No one."
The Supreme God exhaled slowly, his golden eyes dim. "…We have underestimated him."
Elvaron turned to him. "Then what do we do now? Do we simply… accept it?"
A heavy silence fell over the room.
For eons, they had ruled over the cosmos as its absolute authority. Even powerful demonic kings, monstrous abyssal entities, and rebellious celestial beings had fallen before them.
And yet—all of them combined meant nothing before Frank Luminous.
The Supreme God took a deep breath. "No."
The other gods lifted their heads, eyes filled with desperate hope.
"We may not be able to erase him," the Supreme God admitted, "but that does not mean we are powerless."
Elvaron's brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
The Supreme God's golden gaze turned sharp. "Frank Luminous has never shown interest in ruling. He has not claimed dominion over realms. He does not command armies. He does not interfere with the natural order."
Thalvion's eyes flickered with realization. "You mean… as long as we do not provoke him—"
"He will not act," the Supreme God confirmed. "He lives as though he is nothing more than a simple man. That is our only advantage."
The gods exchanged uncertain glances.
"But if he ever does decide to act…" Elvaron's voice wavered.
The Supreme God's fingers twitched.
"If that day comes, then the divine era will be over."

Meanwhile, in the mortal realm…
Frank Luminous leaned against his favorite tree, stretching his arms as he let out a relaxed sigh.
A gentle breeze rustled the grass around him, and the distant chirping of birds blended harmoniously with the rustling leaves.
The book in his hands remained open, though he had long since memorized every word on the page.
His golden eyes, usually half-lidded in a drowsy manner, flickered for a moment.
He knew what had happened.
The gods had tried summoning the Primordial One.
It had failed.
They were panicking.
Frank chuckled softly, flipping the page as though he hadn't just sensed the celestial pantheon's greatest crisis.
"They're finally realizing it, huh?" he mused.
That no matter what they did, nothing would change the fact that he existed beyond their reach.
His fingers traced the edges of the book absentmindedly.
It wasn't as though he had ever wanted this. Immortality. Absolute power. The fear of the gods.
He had simply existed.
And in doing so, he had become something that could not be erased, something that even the strongest beings feared.
Frank sighed. "Maybe I should step in."
Then he glanced down at his book.
"…Or maybe I'll finish this chapter first."
After all, the gods weren't going anywhere.
And neither was he.
