Everyone Else Awakened, But I Just Opened a Pokémon Pet Shop

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Cliff Edge Sword! A Skyward Counterstrike!

Su Bai had no idea that Primal Groudon's arrival had just left an inbound S-Rank Awakened support squad utterly dumbfounded.

But even if he had known? There was no time to care—because Groudon was about to unleash the "Cliff Edge Sword."

At the center of the battlefield:

Primal Groudon roared heavenward, molten lava bubbling at its feet. Even warriors at the city gate could feel the oppressive heat.

Every single pair of eyes, human and beast, turned toward the fiery titan.

Death Beasts, creatures born of savagery, felt no fear of lava or terrain, they recognized power and responded in kind.

A dozen S-Rank Death Beasts let out blood-curdling roars and lunged at Groudon. Elemental assaults, wind blades, fire orbs, torrents of lightning, flashed across the battlefield, each creature unleashing its fury.

One particularly massive wolflike S-Rank Death Beast leapt high, jaws wide in a savage strike.

The Death Beasts swarmed, surrounding Groudon in a living ring of death, and the city lord Zhu Jianyuan trembled at the sight even from afar.

"That beast is powerful… but can it survive this?"

Despite the chaos, Zhu prayed for Groudon's victory, knowing that if it faltered, Haicheng would fall.

Su Bai steps forward

Seeing Zhu's words, Su Bai rolled his eyes—who are you to doubt Groudon?

He snapped his fingers. "Snap!", the signal.

With that, Groudon lifted a massive foot and stomped violently into the earth.

BOOM!!!

A blast of molten lava erupted, swallowing dozens of rushing Death Beasts, A-Rank and below, instantly consumed.

The tremor struck even the gate defenders, rattling their shields and forcing magic arrays into defensive overdrive.

"Earthquake?!" gasped Wang Tao, barely staying upright on Gortle's sturdy back.

The shockwave alone—just the first move—felt like the world was ending.

Then the earth splits

Giant cracks spider-webbed outward from Groudon. The ground ruptured, engulfing hordes of Death Beasts like sinkholes swallowing flesh.

Where once they attacked, now only silence prevailed, Stark proof of the yawning gap in power.

And that was merely the prelude.

The ground trembled violently—the land itself roared—as orange-glowing rock pillars burst upward like colossal spears.

One struck an airborne S-Rank Death Beast squarely in the gut. It died instantly, blood vaporized by heat.

More fissures split the earth—pillar after pillar drilled into beasts mid-flight. The battlefield turned into a cage of death:

Marshaling molten spears shredded low-level Death Beasts that fell from the sky.

Even expert flyers were impaled without warning.

The roar of the earth itself drowned out screams of horror.

Earth becomes weapon-

Faction lead, Pei Jingguo—his body trembling from shock—realized they weren't just watching an attack; this was Groudon's weaponized terrain.

Spiritual resonance: these weren't mere molten pillars, they were swords, violently thrust skyward.

"Sword-energy!" gasped Pei, grasping his blade. The ground itself wielded sword intent.

His awareness spread to Pawniard who raised his fists in awe.

One by one, spiking pillars punctured Death Beasts like lightning strikes, no escape, no mercy.

The aftermath

When the last pillar fell and the dust leveled, the battlefield was unrecognizable:

Night had been replaced by the glow of hundreds of molten streams.

The earth was shattered and reborn—a new terrain of death.

Not a single Death Beast remained, all incinerated beneath the onslaught of the Cliff Edge Sword.

Silence reigned.

Primal Groudon's immense form stood triumphant. It roared again, the echo of absolute power.

Even Su Bai, the one who summoned it, could only gape at the display of devastation.

"This is… the Cliff Edge Sword!"

This was evolution in motion, not a mere game animation. This was nature's fury—manifested by a legendary Pokémon.

Groudon fades...

With a final glance at Su Bai atop the wall, Groudon shimmered and dissipated, its mission complete.

Its departure cleared the oppressive heat. Lava simmered in glowing rivulets; the giant sun in the sky vanished, returning the battlefield to its cold, war-torn normalcy.

Desolate Light—Groudon's domain—receded; volcano gave way to calm.

Reactions....

A guard at the gate collapsed to one knee, tears of relief streaming as he cried:

"We… we did it! The Death Beast army is gone… we've defended Haicheng!"

Emotion swept through the ranks, voices rising in triumphant celebration:

"We won! We survived!"

Amid the jubilation, an S-Rank support squad arrived, eyes widening at the scorched terrain:

"What… happened here? Where am I? Did I come back to… another world?"

Silence, broken only by the crackling lava and the hum of altered earth.
