Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Mr. Mime’s Prank! Main Quest Complete!
"Mr. Mime, also known as the Barrier Pokémon, belongs to the Screen Pokémon species."
"Its typing is Psychic and Fairy, and it's worth noting, this is already its evolved form."
That was exactly why Su Bai had been so shocked earlier.
Mr. Mime is the evolution of Mime Jr.
Until now, only Jigglypuff had shown up as an evolved Pokémon.
Was it because the headmaster really was… quite old?
That aside, pulling a Psychic-type Pokémon wasn't too surprising, given his identity—
After all, he was a seasoned Mage.
As everyone stared at the newly summoned Mr. Mime…
It suddenly moved.
It bowed deeply to Lu Liangpeng, then swiftly stepped to the bedside in a flurry of motion.
Before anyone could react, the slightly pudgy Mr. Mime squeezed itself onto the bed, shoving Zhu Jianyuan aside in the process.
Its fluid movements were smooth and baffling.
Then, it gently picked up a pillow and carefully tucked it under the old headmaster's head.
The bed, previously raised upright, was swiftly lowered.
The Pokémon then pulled the white bedsheet up over Lu Liangpeng with meticulous care.
After that, Mr. Mime turned to the wall and began gesturing with its large hands—palms sliding through the air, as if smoothing out an invisible wall.
When it finished, it pointed at the "Silence, Please" sign on the hospital wall, then pantomimed a rope-pulling motion, like it was drawing curtains shut.
Finally, it pressed its hands together, laid them against the side of its face, and mimed sleeping.
The entire room fell into stunned silence.
The reclined headmaster, the shoved-aside city lord, and a completely speechless Su Bai—all wore the same blank expression.
Zhu Jianyuan pointed at Mr. Mime, utterly confused.
"Su Bai… what's it doing?"
"Why'd it shove me?! I'm the one who paid for it!"
And what was with all that mime-work?
Su Bai rubbed his chin, thoughtful.
"It looks like… Mr. Mime thinks the headmaster needs to rest."
"Every Mr. Mime is a master of pantomime performance."
"That last act was probably 'closing the curtains'..."
"This one really has a strong sense of hospitality."
System, you're killing me here! Su Bai thought, tearing up emotionally.
The headmaster had no children, and Zhu Jianyuan, as the city lord, obviously couldn't be by his side all the time.
And then this Mr. Mime showed up—caring, clever, and considerate. Truly perfect.
A "glass cannon" mage like the headmaster would absolutely benefit from a screen-setting, supportive Pokémon like this.
Even if Su Bai had hand-picked a partner for him, he probably couldn't have chosen better.
System, you're amazing.
Su Bai gave the system a quiet thumbs-up in his heart.
"It really is considerate…"
Zhu Jianyuan, on the other hand, watched Mr. Mime make a "shooing" gesture and twitched.
"It's… kicking us out already?"
"Well, I guess the old headmaster does need some rest. I should head back to the City Lord's Hall too."
He walked toward the bed to say goodbye.
But just as he reached out to shake hands with Lu Liangpeng—
Thump!
His nose smacked into something invisible.
The dignified S-rank powerhouse staggered back in shock.
"Oww—what the hell was that?!"
Zhu Jianyuan clutched his nose, totally dumbfounded.
Mr. Mime pointed at him and silently made a mocking belly-laugh gesture.
Zhu Jianyuan stared at the grinning Pokémon, his blood pressure spiking.
This Pokémon… it's laughing at me?!
From the side, Su Bai's muffled laughter could no longer be held back.
"Um… City Lord… that's one of Mr. Mime's abilities—it can create invisible barriers."
"Also… most Mr. Mime are kind of playful by nature…"
"To put it bluntly, you just got pranked."
Not that Su Bai meant to laugh… but how often does one get to see the mighty City Lord of Haicheng get played like that?
No wonder this Pokémon is known for trapping Professor Oak inside a barrier in the original series.
Mr. Mime… sure loves to mess with people.
"Hahaha! What a character!"
The old headmaster burst out laughing from his bed.
He was absolutely delighted.
This mischievous yet caring Pokémon was exactly to his taste.
Mr. Mime's expressive body language made it feel almost human—like an old man in a clown costume.
With a partner like this, old age might not be so boring after all.
He patted Mr. Mime on the hand and turned to Su Bai and Zhu Jianyuan with a big smile.
"Alright, let me spend some time with my new friend."
"You two go handle your business."
As he spoke, he waved his hand—mirroring Mr. Mime's earlier movements exactly.
Su Bai chuckled helplessly, retrieved the Pokédex, and placed the Poké Ball and a copy of the Pokédex on the bedside table.
"If you need any Berries or healing potions, you can drop by my store once you're fully recovered."
"Then… I'll take my leave."
Zhu Jianyuan looked at the laughing old man and smiled softly.
"As long as the headmaster's happy… That's all that matters."
"I'll return to the City Lord's Hall too, still got a mountain of post-war cleanup waiting for me."
Haicheng No.1 High – Back Commercial Street
In front of Su's Pet Shop.
Su Bai stepped out of the city lord's car, head bowed in deep thought, still holding the Pokédex in his arms.
As he flipped through the device, lines of data shimmered on the screen.
Before the Death Beast siege, the mission counter had reached 199.8 million.
Just earlier in the hospital, Mr. Mime's purchase had filled the final 200,000, even pushing it past the target.
Now, the goal of 200 million for the main quest had officially been met.

Inside the Pokédex, two glowing blueprints hovered mid-air—ready to be taken out at a moment's notice.
But what caught Su Bai's eye most was a rainbow-colored question mark displayed in the Pokédex's center.
That was the system's special reward:
A Random Special Pokémon—just waiting to be drawn!
