Chapter 12: Chapter 12 - The Tsubakihara Family (Part One)
"Huff—huff—"
In a small park near the Tsubakihara family home, Ito Yoshito and Tsubakihara Nina slowly began to slow their pace after an exhilarating morning run, preparing to sit down for post-exercise stretches.
"Yoshito-kun, can you help me stretch?"
Tsubakihara Nina called out to him as she was doing a standing forward bend but felt too exhausted from the run to manage it alone.
Ito Yoshito moved behind Nina, gently placing his hands on her slender waist with one hand while pushing down on her back with the other.
Her flexible torso bent gracefully, resting on her strong thighs, while her smooth, silky ponytails of orange-hued hair nearly cascaded to the ground as she bowed her head.
"Nina, your hair is going to fall onto the ground. Let me hold it for you."
"Mm."
Releasing his hold on her back, Yoshito used one hand to gather her ponytails, looking down at the submissive Tsubakihara Nina as if he were a valiant warrior holding a weapon and controlling his steed on the battlefield, surveying his domain.
'Damn it, why am I thinking these things again? It's all the ring's fault.'
"Heh-eh!"
Tsubakihara Nina stretched with delight, her athletic attire accentuating her curves as if they were about to burst free.
She let out an adorable, playful sound, like a lazy kitten, and gracefully moved under the large tree where Yoshito leaned against.
Her cheeks glowed a rosy pink after exercise, proudly tilting her head back, revealing her delicate, elongated neck before Yoshito's gaze, reminiscent of a noble swan, every slight turn revealing an alluring and poetic charm.
Yoshito immediately understood and took off the towel draped around his neck, gently wiping away her delicate sheen of perspiration.
His long, nimble fingers danced with the towel at the nape of Tsubakihara Nina's neck, causing her to emit soft, contented sounds akin to a cat being stroked.
"Yoshito-kun," Tsubakihara Nina called softly.
"Mm?"
"Are you coming over for dinner today?"
Previously, when they went for morning runs, it was not uncommon for Yoshito to join the Tsubakihara family for meals.
"Well, if it's not too much trouble for you," Yoshito pondered for a moment and then happily agreed.
"Mm, Yoshito-kun, why are you still being so polite?"
…
"I'm home!"
Tsubakihara Nina exclaimed as she dashed inside, tossing aside her shoes, her voice brimming with excitement.
"Mom! Yoshito-kun is coming over for dinner!" It was as if she had just announced something of great delight.
"Sorry to intrude," Yoshito said as he arranged Nina's shoes neatly, switching into the home slippers that Tsubakihara Mira had prepared for him before following Nina into the house.
"Ah, Yoshito-kun!" a soft, melodious voice chimed from the backyard of their quaint house, and soon, a sophisticated, beautiful woman stepped out with delicate steps.
The first thing Yoshito noticed was Tsubakihara Mira's enchanting face, her azure eyes reminiscent of a summer spring, deep and radiant, offering a refreshing allure.
She smiled sweetly at him, her luscious lips curving into a perfect arc, both alluring and dignified.
With no makeup, her beauty mark at the corner of her mouth only added to her charm, much like an enchanting fox that exudes both grace and intrigue.
The head of the Tsubakihara family, Tsubakihara Mira, had hair that mirrored Nina's, a cascade of orange resembling a waterfall down to her waist.
Dressed in a simple pink house dress that concealed her beautifully mature figure without being ostentatious, she portrayed elegance effortlessly.
No extravagant attire was needed; her natural grace was evident even in simplicity.
Her beauty was not like Nina's youthful innocence, but rather, it had matured like a fine wine, becoming richer and more aromatic with the passage of time.
A lingering allure surrounded her, leaving a captivating impression.
"Yoshito-kun, why didn't you come over yesterday?"
Tsubakihara Mira approached him, gracefully placing her hands on either side of his face, playfully squeezing his cheeks, her voice carrying a gentle, magnetic tone that belied a hint of complaint, as if she were teasing him.
It seemed that the whole family enjoyed indulgent banter like kittens.
"Hahaha..."
Yoshito chuckled awkwardly, unsure of how to respond.
"Just kidding! But you really should come over more often, understand?"
"I understand, Mira-chan. I'm just covered in sweat right now; I need to freshen up first. Shall we chat afterward?"
"It's fine! To be honest, I really like your aroma just like this," Tsubakihara Mira's playful hands that had been teasing Yoshito's cheeks unknowingly shifted to caressing his face, her soft cheeks resembling ripe peaches, enticingly moist and vibrant, as her delicate nose sniffled slightly, revealing a charming glimmer in her eyes.
"Mira-chan…"
Yoshito recalled their past times, remembering how things used to be; back when his father was not addicted to gambling, they lived in a nice neighborhood adjacent to the Tsubakihara home, maintaining a close relationship.
After his father succumbed to his vice, often falling into a rage over debts and taking it out on Yoshito, it was Tsubakihara Mira who protected him.
Losing most of the time at the gambling table, his father eventually had to sell off possessions and neglect him, leaving Yoshito to wander alone.
At one point, Tsubakihara Mira even wanted to take Yoshito in as her own, but the Miyajima family offered Yoshito a job at the dojo that allowed him to become self-sufficient.
Naturally, with his strong sense of pride, Yoshito declined Mira's kindness.
In summary, Tsubakihara Mira was the kind of woman who could have been a mother to him, deserving nothing but admiration from him, feelings that would never change!
However... whether Tsubakihara Mira herself would change was no longer any of Yoshito's business!
'Mira-chan has become a bit too close for comfort; it seems she has really changed…'
Yoshito felt a mix of emotions.
Although Mira had always been warm towards him, her affectionate gaze had always been paternal.
But after a month in the hospital, following several visits from Mira, Yoshito noticed a change in the way she looked at him upon this reunion.
Just a week before his discharge, that morning, Tsubakihara Mira visited him alone, without the Tsubakihara sisters.

---- Start Flashback
The spring breeze felt boisterous, as if heralding some approaching change, ruffling the curtains of the hospital and causing them to flap noisily.
In the hospital room, Yoshito noticed a small kitten had scurried onto his bed, appearing quite hungry.
Its big, watery eyes looked up at him beseechingly, yearning for something to eat.
As a cat lover, Yoshito was more than happy to offer the little one some food.
Fortunately, he always had plenty of milk on hand.
In fact, to witness the kitten's entertaining reactions, he secretly hid some milk inside a stick-shaped catnip toy, offering it to the kitten, eagerly anticipating its adorably dazed expression once it got a taste of the catnip.
While the kitten nibbled on the catnip, its eyes would widen, filled with excitement and curiosity. Initially, it would sniff the catnip's scent, inching closer, cautiously extending its tongue to taste.
Once it got a hint of the catnip flavor, however, the kitten would go into a frenzy of licking, chewing, and gulping down as if indulging in a marvelous feast.
In this process, the kitten began to become more animated, its tail wagging excitedly, performing jumps and rolls.
Occasionally, it would emit playful meows, as if expressing its delight over the catnip.
Catnip holds a strong allure for kittens and typically does not affect them adversely. However, prolonged exposure could result in some minor discomfort, like drooling or nausea.
"Huff—"
Before he knew it, the kitten had successfully gulped down the milk and scampered off.
Yoshito was jolted out of his daze, realizing that Miwako Hazuki had entered the hospital room with breakfast.
"Hazuki-nee, I just saw the cutest little hungry kitten! But it dashed away after drinking my milk; what a mischievous little cat! A greedy one!"
Miwako Hazuki exchanged exasperated glances, rolling her eyes, "Could it be that you offered too much and frightened it away?"
"Well then… next time I feed it milk, will it still want some?"
Miwako Hazuki licked her enticing lips, her dreamy eyes hinting at something flirtatious, her delicate fingers somehow finding their way to the buttons of her blouse. "Of course, but it seems there's another kitten that still needs feeding!"
____
"Yoshito-kun, I'm here to see you!"
Tsubakihara Mira called as she swung open the door but was met with the sight of all the curtains around Yoshito's bed drawn tight.
"Yoshito-kun, time to wake up; the sun is shining!"
Walking to the side of Yoshito's bed, Tsubakihara Mira noticed some rustling sounds from inside and, without a second thought, pulled the curtain aside.
"Yoshito-kun…"
———
"Yoshito-kun… Oh, the nurse is here too?"
Seeing Yoshito turned away from her and facing the sitting Miwako Hazuki, Tsubakihara Mira expressed mild surprise, noting that the hospital had not yet served breakfast.
"Tsubakihara-san, are you here to visit Yoshito-kun?"
"Yes," Tsubakihara Mira replied, studying Miwako Hazuki's smile, which seemed slightly stiff. 'Why is her smile so awkward? And why does her posture seem strange?'
"Well, since Tsubakihara-san has arrived, I'll leave Yoshito-kun in your care," Miwako Hazuki stood up, crossing her legs subtly and took her leave with delicate steps.
Tsubakihara Mira's eyes were drawn to the loosened button on Hazuki's uniform, her skirt revealing the appearance of white lace stockings that clung tightly to her shapely thighs, leaving subtle marks.
"Yoshito-kun, I'll feed you!"
Tsubakihara Mira felt a surge of excitement; just seeing Yoshito eat would certainly be adorable.
She settled into the spot left by Miwako Hazuki, but was suddenly hit by an odd, damp scent, reminiscent of the briny aroma of the sea.
Yet, nothing was more important than feeding Yoshito, so she dismissed the thought and sat on the hospital bed.
"Here, ah∽"
Tsubakihara Mira began to feed Yoshito while chatting with him, but she couldn't help but feel puzzled, 'Why is Yoshito laying so awkwardly? What's up with the arch in his back? Why does he sound so muffled? And why is his face so flushed?'
"Yoshito-kun, are you okay? Your face is quite red."
She put down her bowl and spoon, looking at him with concern as she reached for his forehead, finding it not overly hot.
Raising her smooth hair off her shoulders, she leaned in close to his face, gently pressing her forehead against him.
'Hmm, not too hot; he should be fine, but his breathing is quite rapid. He's shy of Auntie's closeness; after all, Yoshito-kun is growing up and starting to notice girls.'
Tsubakihara Mira playfully wished to tease him by maintaining their head-to-head position in silence. The temperature in the small corner gradually rose, making the air feel dense and creating an infusion of sweet, pink atmosphere that hung like mist.
'Hmm—hmm—what a burning atmosphere! Yoshito-kun's eyes look fierce, like a beast ready to pounce and devour me! Heh… Hmm? Wait… devour?'
Snapping back to reality, Tsubakihara Mira raised her head and sniffed, closely examining the bed, noticing a distinct trace and feeling it was wet to the touch.
Tsubakihara Mira finally recognized the root of the odd occurrences.
It was her incredibly adorable, super satisfying cabbage she had raised herself—someone had been eating him!!!
Now understanding everything, Tsubakihara Mira realized why Miwako Hazuki's smile had seemed so stiff, why her posture had been odd, why her clothing had looked disheveled, why Yoshito seemed to be slumped, why his voice sounded muffled, why his cheeks were red, and why there were strange scents and wet marks nearby.
It all came down to a pilfered secret!
Tsubakihara Mira had an epiphany!
With her hands resting on her thighs, her face became expressionless, her bright eyes dimming as they seemed to look into an abyss, exuding an eerie glow that sent shivers down the spine.
Yoshito stared at Tsubakihara Mira, sensing the dark aura enveloping her and the overwhelming pressure radiating from her presence. Feeling a twinge of dread, he asked in a shaky, worried voice,
"Mira-san, are you… okay?"
Tsubakihara Mira snapped back to reality, placing her hands over her delicate cheeks, 'Ah, what was I thinking? I can't believe I wanted to confine Yoshito-kun in a basement and train him to only respond to me…'
And just then, Yoshito heard that!
Tsubakihara Mira gently patted her face, restoring her smile she said to Yoshito, "I'm fine, no need to worry, just rest well, dear. I have things to attend to, so I'll be going."
Without waiting for his reply, Tsubakihara Mira exited promptly.
"Mira-chan…"
[Spring Breeze]: Didn't I try to warn you with the curtains already!?
--- Flashback end
Meanwhile, outside on the street, under the gentle breeze, Tsubakihara Mira's thoughts were not as extreme as before, yet a wave of irritation filled her mind.
Her precious cabbage had been stolen!
'Damn it, it seems like the plan with Miyajima has hit a snag. Sorry, Miyajima, but if I don't act, someone else is going to take Yoshito away.'
With newfound resolve, Tsubakihara Mira turned to leave, a determined look set on her face.
