Chapter 475: The Change of the Sky Demon Sect
The scorching sun hung high in the sky, baking the entire desert into a blur of heat waves.
Jiang Shouzhong and Ran Qingchen were galloping through the vast desert on their fine horses. The dust kicked up by the hooves was instantly swept away by the sandy wind, disappearing into the boundless sea of sand.
Jiang Shouzhong gazed at the woman's fluttering garment, and for a moment, the sight overlapped with the memory of the Princess of Grassland riding a horse.
Once upon a time, he and Yelü Miaomiao had been in such a scene too.
Recently, upon hearing news of Yelü Miaomiao, he had thought of going to find the girl, but in the end, he didn't.
Perhaps it was because of Jingjing, making him feel somewhat guilty.
Though Yelü Miaomiao wasn't as jealous as Jiang Yi or Ran Qingchen, if she knew he was involved with someone around her, that girl would still flip out.
This left Jiang Shouzhong quite helpless.
He felt burdened with romantic debts, ones that might never be repaid in this lifetime.
"Thinking about which little wildcat?"
Ran Qingchen suddenly turned her face slightly, her delicate brows arched.
Sensing the man's thoughts sharply, she leaned forward teasingly, "Your eyes are about to sprout peach blossoms, it can't surely be that Princess of Grassland, can it?"
Uh-oh, how could a woman's intuition be so accurate?
Jiang Shouzhong naturally wouldn't admit it, shaking his head with a smile:
"Who else but you, I was imagining the two of us roaming carefree through this world on horseback, it would be so enjoyable and free..."
Before he finished speaking, Ran Qingchen whipped backward against the rump of his horse.
The red horse neighed and shot forward, startling Jiang Shouzhong who nearly got jostled off the horse.
The man flipped mid-air, landing steadily behind Ran Qingchen on the white horse's saddle.
"Wife, are you trying to murder your husband?"
Jiang Shouzhong took the opportunity to hug the woman's slender waist.
Ran Qingchen's loose strands behind her ear swept across his nose, spreading a gentle fragrance.
"Rather than coax me, why not chase after your Grassland Jewel?" Ran Qingchen leaned back into his embrace with a subtle aroma wafting through her black hair, "After all, she's busy conquering the world for you."
"The madam is jealous again?"
Jiang Shouzhong chuckled softly, his chin gently rubbing against her coiffure.
The woman retorted crossly, "If I'd known my husband was such a playboy, I wouldn't have let Grandma agree to this marriage."
"Too late for regrets now."
Jiang Shouzhong laughed, speaking as his hand slipped into her garment.
Ran Qingchen gently bit her lip, her gaze charmingly seductive with a hint of allure, "Acting so naughty even on horseback, you've surely played around with other sisters before."
A guilty Jiang Shouzhong gave a dry cough, just as he was about to say something to cover it up, suddenly, a rapid sound of hooves came rushing from afar.
Looking up, they saw a dark mass of swirling dust rolling towards them like tidal waves.
Desert Bandits?
Jiang Shouzhong furrowed his brows.
As the dust approached, Jiang Shouzhong was startled to find it wasn't Desert Bandits, but rather an endless swarm of scorpions.
The scorpions surged like a tide, their numbers so great it made one's head tingle.
Ahead of the scorpion swarm, a man in white was desperately fleeing on horseback.
Upon seeing Jiang Shouzhong and Ran Qingchen, the man hastily shouted, "Run! The fairy's killing people! Run!"
Jiang Shouzhong looked bewildered.
What did this guy do to provoke so many Scorpion Demons?
While he was pondering, the man in white had already dashed to their front, his horse's hooves pounding the sand with no sign of stopping, mouth incessantly shouting, "Run! The fairy's killing people!!"
However, he hadn't run far before his horse, as if expending its last ounce of strength, suddenly foamed at the mouth, its forehooves went limp, and it collapsed to the ground.
The man in white tumble awkwardly into the desert, kicking up a cloud of sand.
"Pfft, pfft!"
The man struggled to his feet, spitting out sand as he glanced up.
At one glance, his complexion turned paper-white.
All around, there was nothing but a seething swarm of scorpions, forming a massive encirclement, slowly closing in on them.
"It's over, it's over, it's all over now... I'm afraid I'll never be able to peep at Widow Wang bathing from the next village again."
The man sat paralyzed on the ground, an expression of despair on his face.
The scorpion swarm continued to close in.
Ran Qingchen formed a magic spell with her jade finger, and the advancing scorpion swarm instantly felt the crisis, coming to a halt.
Moments later, the scorpions at the back started swarming frantically, with a muffled rumble, the sand dunes burst open.
The scorpions quickly piled up, and in the blink of an eye, they formed a humanoid figure about ten feet high.
Immediately afterward, a striking woman with the body of a scorpion and a human appeared before them, looking down at the man in white from above.
"Liu Xunhua, you think you can just leave clean like that after sleeping with me?"
The Crab Demon woman's voice was ice cold.
Jiang Shouzhong inhaled sharply, his gaze turning towards the man who had burrowed his head into the sand to hide, unable to stop himself from wanting to give a thumbs-up.
He could only play with snakes at most, but this guy dared to mess with scorpions.
The scorching desert wind swept over the scorpion swarm's high-rise platform, as the scorpion-tailed woman looked down at the trembling Liu Xunhua, her tail hook glinting with a ghostly blue light:
"What happened? You had plenty to say in bed before, didn't you?"
Liu Xunhua lifted his head from the sand, forcing a bitter smile, "Zhen, I didn't plan to leave cleanly, I just have some matters to attend to, I'll be back in a few days."
"Do you think I believe you?"
"You might... believe it," Liu Xunhua said awkwardly.
"Speak!"
Zhen, the demon woman, suddenly stabbed her tail hook into the sand beside Liu Xunhua's ear, the splattered venom instantly corroding the sand into a smoky green, "Are you a spy sent by the Sky Demon Sect? Here to probe Dragon Clan's secrets in the Thousand Beasts Forest?"
