Fairy, Don’t Be Afraid, I’m Blind

Chapter 85: The Rescue

Chapter 85: The Rescue

The vast Auspicious Cave was filled with a faint scent of blood, packed tightly with people. Each individual wore an expression of panic, huddled together on the ground as they felt the repeated tremors reverberating from above.

For a brief moment, the rumbling ceased, allowing everyone to relax slightly. But just as their nerves began to settle, another violent quake shook the cave, dislodging chunks of dirt and dust from the ceiling. Many were left covered in grime, coughing and trembling in fear.

Huddled inside the cave, the people shivered uncontrollably. They had no idea what was happening outside—they could only assume it was the end of the world.

The source of this violent shaking was none other than You Su, who had been brutally knocked back and slammed into the ground.

Lord Liu hovered in the air, his brows furrowed as he sighed, “You Su, should I say a great master produces outstanding disciples? I’ve never seen a Water Condensation Realm cultivator as formidable as your master, nor a Spirit Platform Realm cultivator as skilled as you. Your Mandarin Duck Sword Sect truly is brimming with talent.”

He looked down at You Su, seemingly waiting for a response. But You Su lay collapsed on the ground, his body battered beyond recognition. His black robes were soaked through with blood, clinging tightly to his skin. He lacked even the strength to speak.

Yet You Su refused to give up. Despite having countless bones broken, he struggled to rise once more.

Not far away, “Ji Lingruo” was bound to the ground by a mystical rope imbued with divine energy. The more she tried to break free, the tighter the bindings became, rendering her immobile. Her anger left her speechless, reduced to emitting continuous roars through her spiraling mouthpiece.

“To still stand after such injuries…” Lord Liu observed You Su with a mixture of admiration and curiosity, his dull eyes gleaming. “Tell me… have you already consumed Tai Sui’s flesh?”

You Su, who had barely managed to steady himself, nearly collapsed again. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You don’t? Then perhaps this little girl deceived you into eating it herself?” Lord Liu’s interest piqued. “Of course! After all, you’re blind—you wouldn’t have known what you were consuming. You truly are oblivious to your own fortune, unknowingly devouring such a treasure.”

You Su’s teeth ground together audibly. All the lies he had told to prevent Junior Sister’s consciousness from returning were now being ruthlessly exposed by Lord Liu.

Unable to help himself, You Su turned his head to glance worriedly at Junior Sister, who was still struggling against the divine rope. She seemed indifferent to Lord Liu’s words, continuing her futile attempts to escape.

Indeed… Junior Sister had already become so corrupted—what did it matter whether her original consciousness returned or not?

“Fortunately, the Awakening Array will ensure your body eventually becomes nourishment for me. Otherwise, for you to consume such a treasure would be an unforgivable waste.”

Lord Liu took a step forward, scattering the surrounding mist with an overwhelming aura. The massive hand of spiritual energy reappeared, this time feeling even stronger than before.

Summoning every ounce of strength to keep his trembling legs upright was already a Herculean effort for You Su—he had no chance of fleeing. Raising his sword high, it radiated an aura of desperation, like a cornered beast making one final stand.

Lord Liu glared at the stubborn youth with disdain. You Su’s unwavering gaze reminded him of himself during that fateful battle to cleanse the evil—a betrayal made out of sheer survival instinct.

Determined to make this defiant boy understand the true meaning of despair, Lord Liu gritted his teeth and thrust his hand forward. The massive hand grew larger and surged faster!

Suddenly, a chilling sensation shot through Lord Liu’s heart. His pupils contracted as he turned to look toward the gray-white mist behind him.

He sensed something approaching… fast.

It was a sword!

Before the blade even arrived, its qi had already reached them! Though there wasn’t a trace of ferocity in this sword qi, a single thought raced uncontrollably through Lord Liu’s mind—he was going to die!

The sword light roared forth, its impact far-reaching. Ancient wooden walls of the City Lord’s residence were sliced apart, exploding like flower petals scattered by a celestial maiden.

Lord Liu gasped for breath, unable to fathom what would happen if he dared to block this attack. Looking at the mist sliced open by the sword, he couldn’t help but recall legends of mighty beings parting waves in the ocean.

Through the massive gash cut into the mist, Lord Liu caught sight of two ethereal beauties in the distance.

One of them he recognized… She was the sole person in this city whose depths he couldn’t fathom—You Su’s master’s wife!

Before assuming the role of Chuyun City’s City Lord, he had visited Southern Blaze Continent’s Heaven’s Dawn Divine Mountain to consult a fortune-teller about his future in Chuyun City.

The venerable elder with white hair and youthful features had told him that everything in Chuyun City would proceed smoothly, save for one variable tied to a place called “Mandarin Duck Sword Sect.”

As it turned out, the divination skills of Heaven’s Dawn weren’t exaggerated. The elder hadn’t lied. You Su’s ruthless master had indeed caused numerous complications in his covert plans. Even after she embarked on her wandering journey, the variable didn’t disappear—it merely transformed into this mysterious woman from the Mandarin Duck Sword Sect!

Previously, Lord Liu hadn’t detected any trace of spiritual energy within her. Now, however, the depth of her cultivation had grown so profound that even he couldn’t see through her!

You Su, still unaware of what was happening, could only vaguely sense two women flying toward him in his consciousness. One of them felt strangely familiar.

In his momentary lapse of focus, his left leg gave way, and he began to fall. A fragrant breeze swept past, and suddenly, You Su found himself enveloped in a pair of gentle arms.

Breathing in the lotus-like fragrance, he instinctively opened his mouth, intending to call out to her as he always did. But to his surprise, two pristine fingers slipped into his mouth, placing a round jade bead on his tongue.

“Don’t speak. Hold it in your mouth and rest.”

A wave of emotion welled up in You Su’s eyes, though no tears fell. As the cold jade touched his lips, his entire body froze, immobilizing him completely. Even speaking became impossible. Yet, miraculously, the excruciating pain from his wounds seemed to vanish, frozen along with the rest of him.

The joy of reuniting with his master’s wife lasted only for two breaths before a greater despair descended upon You Su’s heart. Her arrival meant that the Dream-Eating Ghost lurking within her, coveting Tai Sui, had also arrived.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Lord Liu stood tall, his tone neutral. “You’re You Su’s master’s wife—are you also an accomplice to him and this evil entity?”

He Shutong and Heavenly Maiden Wangshu exuded an aura of purity, appearing far removed from anything associated with evil entities.

He Shutong raised her gaze, but instead of addressing Lord Liu, her icy stare locked onto “Ji Lingruo,” who was bound nearby. “Ji Lingruo” froze mid-struggle, sensing the murderous intent in He Shutong’s eyes. Her spiral mouthpiece twitched slightly, but she remained silent.

“Wangshu, hold him.”

The young woman wearing the jade rabbit mask obeyed without hesitation. Taking the rigid You Su into her arms, she cradled him just as He Shutong had done. His blood seeped into her pure white robes, yet she showed no sign of disgust.

Only then did You Su remember that Master’s Wife hadn’t come alone. Held in the arms of this second woman, he noticed that the back of his neck felt no warmth whatsoever.
