Fairy, Please Forgive Me, I Never Meant to Impersonate Your Husband

Chapter 21 - Marrow Cleansing, the Sexy Neighbor

Chapter 21: Marrow Cleansing, the Sexy Neighbor

Blue Star, Demon City, Wangshu Valley Residential Area.

Wu Yuan slowly opened his eyes. He was lying on his bed, no longer floating mid-air as he had been when he first entered the Tianyuan World.

After briefly assessing his body, he felt no obvious hunger or thirst.

Glancing at the alarm clock on the bedside table, he realized two days had passed. Yet, his body didn’t feel like it had gone without food for that long. On the contrary, he felt perfectly healthy.

At this thought, he sprang up from the bed.

Standing, he noticed an increase in strength—his baseline force (without deliberate exertion) had likely grown by over ten pounds. His body felt sturdier, and when he clenched his fists, power surged through them, a stark contrast to his previously lean and somewhat frail physique.

He could roughly guess the reason—but it wasn’t because the wristband had carried over his cultivation progress from the Tianyuan World.

Even if he had advanced his physical body to the high stage of Skin-Shedding in the Tianyuan World, with a baseline force of 700 pounds, only 4% of that would transfer back—far too little to cause noticeable changes in his Blue Star body.

The real reason had to be the Earth Spirit Milk he used during his initial training in the stone hut, a hidden benefit from sacrificing a life for cultivation.

Only the Earth Spirit Milk possessed such a miraculous, heaven-defying effect.

Perhaps the Three Blood Pills had contributed slightly, but they paled in comparison to the Earth Spirit Milk.

Just as he was about to further test his bodily changes, a sharp cramp twisted his stomach, followed by a series of gurgling noises. At the same time, a foul odor began emanating from his entire body.

Instead of panicking, he was thrilled. He rushed into the bathroom, unable to suppress his excitement and anticipation.

Marrow Cleansing!

This was what he was experiencing.

Earlier, due to the wristband’s spatial freezing effect, the Earth Spirit Milk’s properties had been suppressed. Now, they were fully unleashed, delivering an unexpected boon.

For five or six hours, Wu Yuan made four trips to the toilet and took three showers before finally cleansing his body inside and out.

Standing naked before the floor-length mirror, he narcissistically admired his near-reborn physique.

He had grown about three centimeters taller, his skin was fairer, and his previously soft flesh now displayed clear definition. His muscles subtly bulged, hinting at explosive power. His lungs felt clear with each breath, his heart beat steadily and powerfully, and his organs seemed to brim with vitality—even down there appeared to have benefited from a second growth spurt.

He was beyond satisfied.

This marrow cleansing had increased his baseline force by at least another twenty pounds. Combined with his earlier gains and his original strength, his baseline force now reached seventy pounds—40% higher than the average person’s fifty pounds, nearly on par with that of a professional special forces soldier.

It was now 8 a.m.

With his wallet in hand, he finally stepped out, radiating confidence from his transformation. Even the most ordinary clothes couldn’t hide his newfound vigor.

Inside the elevator, he saw an advertisement projected on the wall—fake experts warning people not to approach the Tianyuan Stele recklessly. He couldn’t help but sneer.

Just then, the elevator stopped, and in walked a woman with “sunglasses, long straight black hair, and endless legs.” Wu Yuan’s sneer happened to land directly in her line of sight.

She paused, then removed her sunglasses, giving him a curious once-over before gracefully stepping inside.

Wu Yuan politely retreated two steps. A delicate fragrance—a mix of high-end perfume and natural scent—drifted into his nose, fresh and subtly seductive.

He had to admit, the brief glimpse of her face after she removed her sunglasses revealed striking beauty, and her demeanor matched his preference for the elegant, mature type.

“Are you the new neighbor upstairs?” the woman suddenly asked as the elevator began descending.

Wu Yuan hadn’t expected such a beauty to initiate conversation. Stunned, it took him two seconds to reply:

“Yes, I moved in about five or six days ago.”

“I just moved in too—two days ago.”

“Hah, what a coincidence.”

“I’m Su Ruoqing.”

“Wu Yuan.”

The elevator reached the ground floor. Since the residential area was small and there was only one exit, they continued walking together.

“Wu Yuan, are you heading out for work or…?”

Su Ruoqing seemed eager to chat, naturally keeping pace with him as they walked.

“Breakfast.”

Wu Yuan waved his wallet and added with a smile, “Haven’t figured out work yet. I just arrived in this city.”

“Same here. Want to grab breakfast together? I know a great place nearby.”

“Why not?”

What he really wondered was why Su Ruoqing was being so friendly. Was she interested in him? Unlikely—at least, he didn’t think his current appearance was enough to attract a woman of her caliber.

And it definitely wasn’t one of those cliché scenarios where she’d ask him to pretend to be her boyfriend to show off. He wasn’t that naive.

They arrived at a nearby mixed-use building and settled into a refined Cantonese breakfast restaurant on the fourth floor.

Su Ruoqing ordered five or six delicate Cantonese dim sum dishes, eagerly digging in while urging Wu Yuan to join her.

But before he could pick up his chopsticks, Su Ruoqing frowned and set hers down, complaining reluctantly:

“I don’t know what’s wrong these past two days. Everything tastes bland. Even this place isn’t as good as before. Am I developing an eating disorder?”

“Probably not. You look perfectly healthy.”

Wu Yuan chuckled, already guessing what had happened to her—a side effect of visiting the Tianyuan World.

The Tianyuan World was saturated with abundant spiritual energy. Even the simplest meals there surpassed the finest delicacies on Blue Star.

It wasn’t about flavor, but how the food nourished the body.

How could a polluted planet like Blue Star produce truly healthy food? Rice soaked in pesticides, poultry pumped full of hormones, even fish raised on antibiotics…

He didn’t know what level of Tianyuan terminal Su Ruoqing had, but she must have spent several days in the Tianyuan World, growing accustomed to its cuisine. Now, returning to Blue Star’s food made everything taste unappetizing.

He also couldn’t help but think of a business opportunity.

Before long, countries that had first granted access to Tianyuan terminals would notice skyrocketing demand for premium ingredients, while ordinary food would be increasingly rejected.

Coupled with the fact that more people entering the Tianyuan World would reduce their meals on Blue Star, companies producing common ingredients would see their stocks plummet, while those dealing in high-end ingredients would soar to unimaginable heights.

Thinking Wu Yuan was brushing her off, Su Ruoqing pouted, initially ready to give up on eating. But hunger gnawed at her, and she could only stare at him pitifully.

Smiling, Wu Yuan pushed two of the newly ordered dim sum dishes toward her, suggesting she try them.

Reluctantly, she took a bite—and was surprised to find them tolerable. Though far from the deliciousness she remembered, they were at least edible.

What she didn’t know was that these two dishes used relatively less polluted ingredients and processing methods, making them just palatable enough for her Tianyuan-refined taste buds.

After the meal, Wu Yuan naturally footed the bill. Expecting a beauty like Su Ruoqing to pay? He’d need to be three times more handsome for that.

Of course, he also finally understood why she had taken an interest in him—her conversation kept circling back to the Tianyuan World. She was likely searching for allies to explore it with, even if they weren’t in the same town, for future cooperation.

In response to her probing, Wu Yuan only offered the half-truths circulating online, which visibly disappointed her.

Her attempts to persuade him to secretly obtain a Tianyuan terminal only reinforced his suspicion that she was struggling in the Tianyuan World, amusing him internally.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to guide her—he simply refused to let anyone suspect he was among the first Tianyuan adventurers.

“The greatest warriors leave no tales of glory.”

His priority was to remain hidden and anonymous, avoiding envy. The proverb “the tallest tree catches the wind” was one he took seriously.

For now, not even those closest to him would get a hint of the truth, not until he was certain he could withstand any scheme or attack.
