Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Two Pieces of News
Struggling, Selene suddenly turned to Irene, who was still observing them without saying anything.
"Aren't you jealous?"
Irene's lips curved into a gentle smile, her eyes sparkling. "It would be a lie to say I'm not. But more than jealousy, I want him to be happy. Besides, I can't handle him alone."
Earlier, when Irene was pressuring Selene, Aegon hadn't said a word or stopped her, giving Irene full respect. This was her way of reciprocating.
[Ding~ You have conquered the 'Moon Dragon' Selene.]
[Experience gained: 1,260,000 points.]
[Level up: Lv.82 → Lv.83.]
Aside from her transformation, Selene's intimacy level increased from 80 to 90.
As a dragon, Selene's physical prowess was unquestionable. She seemed to savor the experience, but Aegon gently patted her.
"We have plenty of time in the future."
"Mm."
Selene got up from him and slowly dressed. "Come, sit with us."
Aegon patted the empty space on his large recliner, big enough to comfortably fit three people.
Irene shook her head helplessly but smiled naturally, sitting on his other side.
With possibly the two most powerful women in the world by his side, Aegon felt a bit euphoric, almost forgetting about serious matters. His hands wandered over them.
However... in reality, Irene and Selene ignored Aegon's playful hands and engaged in a pleasant conversation.
"I need to apologize to you first; my earlier behavior was just to test you."
"No, it's normal not to trust me since we've only just met."
"Thank you. Juliet, come up and introduce yourself."
Juliet saluted playfully to Selene, "Lady Selene, I am Juliet. Please take care of me from now on!"
Heine and Mera, not as bold, introduced themselves obediently.
Irene smiled warmly like the matriarch, "If you need anything, feel free to command them."
Irene's kindness clearly put Selene at ease. She reciprocated with her own goodwill, mimicking Irene's earlier words, "Thank you."
"Have you noticed any changes in Earthland?"
Irene's question surprised Selene. She nodded, "Yes, I returned to Earthland recently because of those changes. However, I don't think it's a change; it's more like the original fog has been lifted."
Irene quickly understood, "You mean those newly emerged continents always existed?"
Selene nodded slightly, "Yes, there are historical records in dragon lore. It says that those continents suddenly disappeared from the world one day in ancient times."
"Are there many records about those continents?"
"Not many, but... there are records of races that can rival dragons, like the Titans, and some kind of sea monster."
Irene murmured to herself, "We should pay more attention then..."
She quickly shook her head to dispel her thoughts, "Back to the main topic. Since you want to kill the other four Dragon Gods, do you know their locations?"
"I only know the location of the Wood Dragon Aldoron, in the central continent of Drasil."
Irene nodded thoughtfully, "It seems they are indeed well-hidden."
She hadn't expected that even Selene, who wanted to kill the other Dragon Gods, couldn't locate them. The difficulty of finding the other three Dragon Gods was evident.
Aegon caressed Irene and Selene's waists, "It's okay. We have plenty of time to find them."
He turned to Selene and promised, "Even if we can't find them, I can ensure you achieve your goal."
"Then the next target is Drasil?"
Aegon kissed both of them on the cheek, "Of course, but first, we need to handle the main business!"
"You never tire, do you?"
Aegon replied righteously, "No matter how much, it's never tiring."
Aegon, Irene, and Selene didn't set off immediately but spent several days indulging in "Magia Dragon."
Although Ermina seemed remote and unnoticed, the presence of the Water Dragon Mercphobia meant that the Guiltina Magic Council (MNP) always kept an eye on any changes in Ermina.
Over the next few days, news of the black dragon Acnologia and an unfamiliar red dragon appearing in Aelomina quickly spread.
Combining this with the news from the Alvarez Empire a month ago, the Magic Council finally confirmed:
The dark wings described in the "Apocalypse" have reappeared!
...
On September 10th, X777, Fiore Kingdom, Magnolia—
Makarov, one of the Ten Wizard Saints of Ishgar, and also the guild master of Fairy Tail, walked back to the guild after attending an emergency council meeting. His usually cheerful face was now clouded with worry.
The reason was the two pieces of news he had just received from the Magic Council's Emergency Response Administration (ERA), both shaking the magical world to its core.
The first was the reappearance of the Black Dragon, Acnologia.
The second was the cancellation of one of the two Century Quests!
While the client, the dragon slayer Elefseria, had gone missing, the ancient guild "Magia Dragon," with its magnificent dragon sculptures, had also vanished without a trace!
Makarov sighed deeply, "Troubling times lie ahead..."
As he pushed open the guild doors, a slightly immature voice reached his ears.
"No fighting! Both of you, stop it!"
A girl in armor and a white knee-length skirt, with crimson hair tied in braids, was scolding someone with her fists.
Erza
"A demon..." a boy with short, droopy hair, bare-chested, touched the lump on his head.
"Definitely a demon..." a boy with cherry blossom-colored hair and a white scarf muttered while sitting cross-legged on the ground.
"Oh! Natsu and Gray got scolded by Erza again, haha!"
"What did you say?" The girl, known among guild members as Erza, squinted at them, exuding a powerful aura.
In Natsu and Gray's eyes, her narrowed gaze seemed to emit crimson light, causing them to tremble as they huddled together.
"N-Nothing!"
"Well, you guys sure are lively!" Natsu, Gray, and Erza's energy dispersed the gloom hanging over Makarov's head.
...
Five days ago.
After sealing the Dragon's Lair into a pocket dimension, Selene, along with Irene, Aegon, and the others, boarded the airship and set off towards the central continent of Drasil.
Although it would take several days to reach Drasil by airship, Selene's spatial magic could have transported them instantly. However, as per Selene's wish for leisure, they didn't rush.
Having spent several days together, Selene had gotten to know Aegon, Irene, and their quirks quite well.
He wasn't stubborn and didn't adhere to hierarchical norms.
Of course, there were exceptions, such as in bed, where she discovered Aegon's penchant for various odd nicknames. Every time she called him one, he turned into an unrelenting pile-driver...
Selene casually lounged on the soft sofa, sighing, "Humans do love their pleasures."
A light chuckle came from beside her, and Irene, sitting with her legs crossed, turned to her, "There are many ways to indulge; you can explore them slowly."
Watching her comrades with whom she had fought side by side for days, possessing equal strength and similar interests, Selene couldn't help but feel they had become good sisters.
It was a feeling she hadn't experienced during her solitary existence. In Aegon and Irene, and even in Juliet and the others, she could feel genuine goodwill.
Looking at Aegon reclining on the lounge chair, dozing off with Heine and Mera fanning him, Selene couldn't help but chuckle,
"Why hasn't he squeezed in between us?"
Irene let out a slight sigh, a hint of melancholy in her tone, "Ah, maybe he's fed up with us..."
Aegon, with his eyes closed, chimed in lazily, "If you keep talking about me, I'll come over there. Isn't it giving you two some space for conversation?"
Selene rolled her eyes, "Yeah, right. Where were you the past few days, giving us time and space?"
Irene chuckled and shook her head, "Forget it, let's not bother him."
Selene raised her head slightly, "Well then, let's talk about something serious. Do you remember Aldoron?"
According to Selene, the Wood Dragon Aldoron had escaped to Guiltina after being defeated by the Black Dragon. She had meant to ask about this a few days ago, but Aegon never gave her the chance...
Aegon shook his head, "Nope, don't remember." He had searched his memories thoroughly and indeed found no mention of Aldoron. Acnologia had killed countless dragons, so he probably didn't bother remembering each one individually.
Selene gave a brief overview to Aegon and Irene:
"Aldoron is known as the largest known dragon in dragon history, the Wood Dragon. With a steady supply of nutrients, his body could eventually grow to the size of a continent. After over three hundred years of recuperation and absorbing nutrients from humans and the land, although he hasn't reached the size of a continent yet, I believe he's large enough to be called a mountain range."
A mountain range?
Hearing Selene's description, Irene frowned, "Can you be more specific? How big is he?"
After pondering for a moment, Selene finally gave a startling answer, "Ermina might be no bigger than the palm of his hand."
"Whoa!" Juliet, Hein, and Mela gasped in shock.
"..." Irene and Aegon fell silent.
Even Aegon had to admit, it was huge...
The Wood Dragon God Aldoron truly deserved to be called colossal.
Irene quickly grasped the implications, "With such a massive body, he's probably too cumbersome. I don't see much hope unless he has exceptionally strong defenses."
Selene nodded, "Exactly, he doesn't. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been defeated. Of course, over three hundred years ago, Aldoron didn't have this size either."
Irene, sitting upright, looked at Aegon seriously, "I've said it before, don't be careless."
Even if it might provoke Aegon's displeasure, she chose to speak candidly.
Feeling a surge of her affection, although the words weren't pleasant, they were genuine concerns for his safety. Aegon opened his eyes and sat up slightly, nodding slightly,
"All right, I promise you. If I make a mistake in the future, you don't need to beat around the bush, just tell me directly."
Irene sensed his sincerity and smiled faintly, "That's more like it."
Selene's eyes wandered between Aegon and Irene, and when their gazes returned to her, she blinked her big eyes,
"Such an interesting dynamic."
The somewhat serious atmosphere just now was diluted by her blinking eyes.
Selene found it genuinely amusing; Aegon could easily be authoritative, but he chose not to be.
She had to admit, she preferred this side of Aegon.
