Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Awe-Inspiring
"I'm here!!!"
After sending Laxus off with Haine, Aegon rushed toward the hot spring.
The hot spring was outdoors, but Selene and Irene had used a magic array to shield the entire estate, allowing steam and mist from the natural environment to shroud the area in a haze.
"Ah!!!" Erza's face flushed as she covered herself, struggling to form words. "Y-You...you, why are you here?"
"Why can't I be here?"
"Haven't you...seen there are so many people here?"
"That's right!" Selene put her hands on her hips, as though joining Erza's side.
With Selene's support, Erza stood up confidently. "Did you hear that?"
Aegon didn't argue. What Erza didn't notice was that—because she was no longer covering herself in the heat of the moment—he had a perfect view. While she was sitting earlier, the mist had concealed everything, but now it was a different story.
Pink.
"At least change into something appropriate and take a bath first!" Selene's next comment deflated Erza's confidence instantly.
Mira tilted her head, puzzled. "And after drinking, can you even take a bath?"
Awe-inspiring!
"Lord Aegon, let me give you a back massage!" Kiria grinned with her hand in a chopping pose, her fingers glowing faintly white.
"Is that really a back massage?! It hurts!" complained Jenny, who had been on the receiving end before and felt her back still burning from the experience.
Misaki, reclining against a rock, chuckled softly. "That's because you haven't trained enough."
...
Aegon was in a good mood recently. After sending Laxus off, besides enjoying a relaxing bath, another reason was that Laxus had come to him willingly, adding one more name to Aegon's scarce list of followers.
Laxus [Loyalty: 90]
And this starting loyalty was surprisingly high. Leaving aside Juliet and the others, who were basically outliers, Aegon was pretty sure Laxus had the highest initial loyalty he'd seen so far.
Aegon guessed that it was possibly because Laxus respected strength inherently, and Aegon had shown a glimpse of his power without demanding anything from him.
Aegon merely advised Laxus to train well, saying he could come to him if he experienced issues with dragon transformation or anything else. The only "requirement" was that Laxus should actively take on missions and battle, which was hardly a demand for someone like him.
Over the past few days, Laxus had been resolutely following these instructions. His daily training and battles consistently provided experience for Aegon.
The Water God Dragon was similar. With a massive body over thirty meters long, its daily food intake was considerable, so it often went to sea to hunt.
The only exception was Elfman, whose limited combat skills offered Aegon only meager experience points...
But it wasn't a major issue.
As Mira massaged him, she asked gently, "Lord Aegon seems to be in a good mood?"
She could see the smile on his face as he hummed a tune she hadn't heard before.
Aegon nodded slightly. "Indeed, things are going well."
"Shall I play you a song, Lord Aegon?"
Aegon's eyes brightened. "I'd love that."
He knew Mira had been learning the piano over the past couple of years. The piano, initially just a decoration, finally had some use. He'd seen Mira practicing before, but this would be his first time hearing her perform officially.
Mira waved at Jenny, who was enjoying some dessert. "Jenny, could you take over for me?"
"Coming! Coming!" Jenny responded eagerly, urging Aegon to sit up a bit and lean against her well-toned figure.
As Mira began to play, Aegon quickly recognized the melody. It was the song he had been humming earlier, "Fireworks."
He must have hummed it repeatedly while thinking, not realizing Mira had memorized it. He wasn't sure about the song's difficulty, but Mira played it beautifully. Even without lyrics, it was delightful as instrumental music.
...
"Is this the place? Quite gloomy, isn't it?"
Looking at the castle and surrounding area, Aegon couldn't help but make a remark.
Even the tree trunks here were black, and the castle sat in the middle of a dark forest, where light barely reached. Without Misaki guiding them, it would've been challenging to find.
Misaki nodded. "Yes, this is it. Despite the setting, it's actually a legitimate guild."
Aegon and Selene, accompanied by Misaki and Gilia, had arrived at the central region of Guiltina, standing before a large castle in a style reminiscent of dark guilds. The castle was adorned with skulls and had a massive gargoyle-like statue above it. This ominous structure was their destination, the Dragon-Eaters Guild—"Diabolos."
Diabolos
A few days prior, Misaki and Selene had mentioned Diabolos members, noting that Kirin had devoured the flesh of Elexion, the Lightning Dragon King. Since Elexion's soul seemed to still be conscious, Selene had taken an interest.
"Who's there?!"
A man's voice called from inside the castle.
"Misaki, Kiria, where have you been all this time? And why'd you come back all of a sudden? Where's the guild master?"
A young man around Laxus's age stepped out to greet them. Wearing a black leather coat, a top hat, and a monocle, he had wavy long hair and carried a massive coffin on his back, fastened with a chain.
He looked somewhat agitated and didn't notice Aegon and Selene standing beside Misaki and Gilia.
Then, two more figures emerged from the guild: one dressed in skeletal armor with a cloak and another wearing a metallic suit of armor with a unique hairstyle.
"The scent of dragons?" They quickly caught the smell of Aegon and Selene.
"Misaki, what are you doing with dragons?"
Kirin narrowed his eyes, looking wary.
At Aegon's signal, Misaki took a step forward. "Kirin, I'm here to persuade you to surrender to Lord Aegon and Lady Selene."
Kirin refused flatly, "Moon Dragon God Selene? No way! We're the Dragon-Eaters Guild; we'd never bow to a dragon!"
Misaki sighed. "Kirin, Scario, Mademoire, I advise you to surrender. There's no point in resisting."
Kiria added, "That's right, you're no match for Lord Aegon and Lady Selene. Do you know why the guild master is missing? He was slain by Lord Aegon, without any chance to fight back."
Although Diabolos had an eerie atmosphere, Misaki, Kiria, and Kirin had known each other for some time, and they didn't want to see their old friends meet a grim fate.
The guild's strongest, Georg Reizen, who could slay dragons on his own, hadn't stood a chance against Aegon. As for Kirin and the others, it was laughable—they couldn't even scratch him.
"Impossible!"
Since witnessing Georg Reizen's defeat of Elexion, the Lightning Dragon King, Kirin had firmly believed in Georg's strength. To him, the idea of Georg not standing a chance was inconceivable.
"We're the Dragon-Eaters Guild! Let's go!"
