Fairy Tail: Igneel's eldest son in Anime Multiverse

Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Growth and Anxiety

When Charles arrived, he saw Lefiya, Ais, and the Amazonian sisters being entangled by several man-eating flowers.

These monsters were no pushovers—they possessed at least second-tier adventurer strength, with especially formidable defenses thanks to their tough outer layers.

Worse yet, the Amazon sisters hadn't brought their weapons since they were only attending the festival. Ais, too, had sent her Desperate Sword in for maintenance and was carrying only a regular blade.

But this ordinary sword couldn't compare to one imbued with the [Unbreakable] attribute. It simply couldn't withstand the force of Ais's Ariel magic.

If Ais fought at full power, her sword would snap before she could cut down all the monsters.

Lefiya was in even worse shape. Right now, she wasn't even a functional mage. Her fear of monsters left her unable to chant properly—she was smacked mid-spell and thrown aside.

The four of them were in a bad spot. Ais had even taken a minor injury while protecting a small girl.

That's when Charles arrived.

Dropping from the sky, Charles landed on top of a man-eating flower, stomping it into the ground. The impact cracked the stone street like a spider web, and the monster exploded into particles of light.

He raised a hand to block another attacking vine, which instantly ignited, turning the flower into a burning torch. Within two seconds, only a dark green magic stone clattered to the ground.

"Charles is amazing… he's becoming more and more like a hero out of a story," Tiona said in awe.

Hearing that, a complicated expression crossed Ais's face.

Charles didn't stop. With momentum on his side, he quickly blasted apart the remaining flowers.

He stepped up to the group. "You all okay?"

Tiona, apparently having forgotten their prior awkwardness, beamed with energy. "You saved us again! You're just like a real hero!"

Charles chuckled. "Should I say… 'Forgive me for being late, noble princess?'"

Tiona blushed. "That actually sounds kinda good!"

Tione pulled her sister back with a sigh and turned to Charles. "Thanks for the help."

Charles nodded. "Just lending a hand."

While they spoke, Eina the elf advisor ran over.

"Thank you all so much! But we're still missing one silverback ape—it seems to have escaped toward Daedalus Street!"

Ais handed the injured Lefiya to Tione and declared, "I'll go right away."

Charles quickly added, "That place is a maze. I'll come with you."

"I'm going too!" Tiona jumped in.

Eina sighed in relief. Any one of them could deal with a silverback, but as Charles said, the worst part was the terrain.

Daedalus Street, also known as the Labyrinth District, was a maze-like area built by the same artisan who created both Babel Tower and Orario itself—Daedalus.

With three people working together, the beast could be dealt with quickly, minimizing damage.

Ais used Ariel to cloak herself in wind and soared forward like she was flying.

She had to admit, watching Charles fight had stirred something in her. Along with everything else that had happened recently, she was desperate to grow stronger.

With that in mind, Ais arrived at Daedalus Street. Unexpectedly, the silverback was already there, right in front of her.

But even more surprising was the white-haired, red-eyed boy standing in its path.

Ais instantly recognized Bell—the boy she had saved from the minotaur, the one she'd frightened away.

She started forward instinctively, but Charles stopped her.

Ais looked at him in confusion. Why stop her from helping?

"Just watch," Charles said. "That boy is no longer the same. He doesn't need help for an opponent like this. Watch closely—watch how much he's grown."

Charles believed in Bell. In the original story, Bell had defeated the silverback on his own. There was no reason he couldn't now, especially after all the training he'd undergone.

Bell hadn't noticed them. His attention was locked entirely on the monster.

Originally, he had just wanted to enjoy the festival. Having only been in Orario for a short while, he was curious about its celebrations.

But he was quickly roped into errands. First, a catgirl waitress from the Hostess of Fertility asked him to return Syr's forgotten wallet.

Before he could find her, he ran into Hestia, fresh from helping Hephaestus forge the Hestia Knife. She pulled him along into what turned into a "date."

And then the silverback appeared—enchanted by Freya, it had fixated on Hestia and pursued them relentlessly.

At first, Bell panicked. But just before they reached the plaza near Daedalus Street, something clicked.

"What are you afraid of?"

Charles's voice echoed in his mind, and Bell stopped running.

And then, in response to Bell's growth and resolve, Hestia performed the final rite on the Hestia Knife right then and there.

Now, the scene before them: Bell stood alone, blade in hand, facing the silverback head-on.

Though technically the same rank as a goblin, the silverback was born in the deepest part of the upper dungeon. It was the equivalent of a peak-level 1 monster—something only adventurers on the verge of leveling up could handle.

Bell had only been an adventurer for half a month. He shouldn't stand a chance.

But for some reason, he didn't feel like he could lose.

Maybe it was the hopes imbued in the knife by his goddess. Maybe it was the growth he earned through Charles's training.

"Listen up, Bell. Daggers don't have the raw power of bigger weapons. But adventurers and monsters all have weak points.

Even a dagger can fell an enemy if it hits the right spot—nerves, tendons, joints. Hit those, and they can't fight back.

So before you attack—observe."

Calm now, Bell recalled Charles's advice and let his eyes sweep over the monster.

It still wore shackles and an iron muzzle, but its glowing red eyes burned with ferocity.

Bell twisted his body, narrowly dodging a swipe from the beast and the whirling chain attached to its wrist.

Then, with a flash of black steel, he slashed across the monster's elbow joint. A muffled roar came from beneath the mask.

Another swing—Bell was already gone.

He circled back in, ducked under the next sweep, and sliced through its ankle.

The beast crashed forward, giving Bell the opening to leap behind it and drive the dagger into the back of its neck.

The silverback groaned once before exploding into black mist. The only things left behind were its broken restraints and a sizable magic stone.

With the enemy gone, Bell staggered a step.

"I… I won! Lady Hestia, I beat it!"

Stunned for a moment, Bell then jumped with joy. This was the first time he'd defeated such an overwhelming opponent.

Charles watched him with pride, smiling at his growth.

And then, from beside him, Ais muttered, "He's gotten stronger… but how? How did he get so strong, so fast?"

Even Charles could hear the unease in her voice—an unmistakable trace of… anxiety.
