Randy grabs Alex's collar with an angry face.

"I don't want to hear any jokes now, Alex. If you think this is funny, then I'll tell you that it's not."

"Do you think I will joke around in this situation? Even I know when to play around and when to be serious."

Randy sees that Alex is serious, so he releases his grip on Alex's collar.

"Alright, now tell me what you mean by that. You are not a doctor, so how can you know what happened to my father just from a glance when even the best doctor in the Capital can't understand it?"

"That's because it's not a medical problem. Have you called a Mage Doctor?"

"We have, but she didn't find any magic on him. He is not a Mage, so there won't be a problem with his magic power or anything like that."

"I see, so even a Mage Doctor can't detect it, huh? Maybe it's because it's hidden too well or it can't be sensed by most Mages because of its unique property."

"Don't just talk to yourself. Quick, tell me what you found!" Randy urges Alex.

"I've told you that I've fought a Demon before, right?"

"Yeah, the one you and your teacher killed. What about it?"

"Well, actually, I have an ability to absorb magic power from the enemies I've defeated and I've absorbed that demon's magic power. Demons' magic power is very different from humans. Maybe because I've absorbed a demon's magic power, I can differentiate them easily."

"Wait! Don't tell me-" Randy can guess what Alex wants to say.

"I sensed a demon's magic power inside your father's body, your mother too."

Randy is very surprised now because he never expects this before. Alex needs to wait for a while before continuing the conversation.

"Your mother is a Mage, right?"

"Y-yeah. No way! Are you telling me it's my mother's doing?" Randy is shaking.

"No, I'm sure it's not. What I want to say is, because she is a Mage, even if she is a weak one, she has more resistance to the demonic magic power compared to your father. That's why she only gets weakened while he gets into a coma. But the demon magic I sensed from them is the same, so it must've come from the same demon. Maybe they got attacked at the same time when they encountered that demon, but didn't realize it."

"I see..... Wait! But mother got sick a few weeks after father. Doesn't that mean they get attacked at different times?"

"Eh? Hmm, if it's just a few days' difference, then maybe it's because her magic power gave her some immunity. But a few weeks are too long for the magic to take effect. Alex and Randy think hard but can't find the answer. Alex isn't really smart while Randy doesn't know much about demons, so they can't find any good answers. That is until Matatabi tells Alex her guess which makes him widen his eyes.

"Randy, didn't you say that your Uncles will try to take over the family soon?"

"Yeah, we'll do the meeting in 2 days."

"This is just my guess, but maybe one of them has a connection with this demon."

Randy widens his eyes. If it really is a plot from one of his Uncles who wants to take over the family, then it might really be possible.

"Damn those pigs!" Randy is very angry.

"Calm down, it's just a guess, we can't be sure yet. Besides, that's not our priority now, right?"

"Oh, right. Do you know the way to cure my parents?"

"Of course, but this is not on my job contract, you know." Alex grins slyly, making Randy speechless.

"Tsk! You damn greedy Mage."

"Hey, I also need to make a living."

"Fine, I'll pay you separately for this."

"Good, let's make the contract."

They quickly work on the contract and after agreeing with the deal, Alex wants to start curing Randy's parents. Obviously, they tell Randy's mother about it first to find out how she got infected by the demonic magic power.

"Demonic magic power? But I wasn't attacked by any demons. I would surely realize that it was the cause if I was attacked by a demon."

"Hmm, so it wasn't through a fight, but a sneaky method. Well, we can find out about it later. For now, let's solve the problem. Ma'am, your hand, please."

Alex holds Randy's mother's left hand and starts absorbing the demonic magic power inside her body. He only absorbs the demonic magic power without taking any of her magic power. It's a very difficult task, but he can do it quite easily with the help of the Tailed Beasts.

'This demonic magic power is more useful for breaking the seals compared to beasts' magic power. Too bad she doesn't have much.' Shukaku shakes his head disappointedly, but then Matatabi scolds him because it would be bad if Randy's mother has even more demonic magic power in her body.

Though he is right about something. The demonic magic power has a stronger effect on breaking the seals that trap the other Tailed Beasts. Maybe it's because the demonic magic power is more destructive.

Too bad that demons are hard to find and even if he meets one, Alex isn't sure if he needs to fight the demon. After all, demons that roam near human civilizations are most likely the strong ones. It would be really bad if he meets a demon like Deliora when he's not ready yet.

Anyway, it takes a while to absorb all the demonic magic power in Mrs. Garcia's body. Alex needs to be careful, after all, and he also needs to make sure he takes every single bit of the demonic magic power from her.

Her complexion gets better visibly as Alex takes out the demonic magic power from her body. Though she is still weak even after getting cleaned completely. Her magic power and stamina have dropped so low before. She needs time to recover them.

After that, Randy immediately does the same thing to Mr. Garcia. It's easier to do now because Randy's father isn't a Mage, so he doesn't have his own magic power. There's only demonic magic power in his body, so Alex doesn't need to be too careful.

Mr. Garcia's condition is much worse than his wife though. There are black-purple marks on some parts of his body as the effect of the demonic magic power. He is lucky that there's only a small amount of it, so he doesn't die already.

"Alright, your parents just needs time to recover now. I guess the herbs we collect will be useful to help them recover faster, so our trip to the forest wasn't exactly a waste, right?"

"Thank you, thank you so much."

Alex is stunned when Randy and Mrs. Garcia grab his hands while crying. He knew they would be happy, but this is beyond what he expected.

"Alex, I know this may be too much to ask, but can I hire you for another task? I'll write another contract for it with a good reward, obviously, so please help me." Randy wipes his tears and looks at Alex seriously.

"What do you want?"

"You can sense the demonic magic power, right? Then can you help me find this demon? If it really is one of my uncles, then I have a feeling that he will bring the demon here on the meeting day."

"Yes, I predict the same thing. He must plan to use the demon to worsen our conditions so it can increase his chance to take over the family." Mrs. Garcia has the same opinion as Randy.

"Hmm, alright." Alex agrees because it's a good chance to get more demonic magic power to hasten the process of breaking the 4th seal.

The meeting is in 2 days, and until that time, they hide the fact that Mr. & Mrs. Garcia have been cured. They hide it even from their most trusted servant and family member. It's because they don't want to give any chance for the news to spread no matter how small it is.

Alex keeps his guard all day long until the meeting time, but the demon doesn't show up before the meeting. He finally senses it when Randy's 2nd uncle's group comes. So Alex focuses on it to find the hiding demon.

To his surprise, he finds out that the demon isn't disguising as a human. After all, the source of the demonic magic power he senses isn't any of the people there, but from a tool.

"Now this is interesting."
