Fallen From The Heavens

Chapter 9: Mystery Fruit

Rain and I looking up at the sky and notices that nightfall is quickly approaching. As I look across these small hills I turn around and say, "We need some form of shelter and I think I know the perfect idea. But first we need to look for a suitable place to live."

"What do you mean suitable making any kind of house is beyond us. The structure would collapse because neither one of us has any kind of construction experience." Rain says with a slight look of concern.

"Well I was thinking about that as well and I think I might have a solution to that already. Do you remember when we first met. I used crystillan to form a cage for those bandits to get burned alive. So what if I just made a huge dome with a doorway then make a door with Mother Nature. But there is one downfall and that's we can't use magic while inside. But right now using the dome to get used to the gravity is our first goal the faster we can control our bodies the faster our true training comes into play."

After that Rain and I start walking we moved extremely slowly. The scenery was dazzling as the sun went down the plants here were so magnificent near dark some of them started to produce their own lights. A fern like plant was almost vibrant purple. Another plant that really stuck out to me was a flower that started blooming closer towards the night. Then I noticed something floating on a tree. It was completely white it looked like a fruit of some kind. I look around more and see these floating fruit trees all around us. A food source I think to myself.

"Right here seem good." I say to Rain. "Back up so I can cast this, Crystillian! The mauve colored crystals formed a dome about the 15 ft wide and tall. I form the door with Mother Nature. We then start doing basic workouts to try to adapt to this environment. Push-up sit-ups and squats these three workouts are exactly what we need to do to help us get used to the gravity on this planet. As the sky turns completely dark we hear the first droplets of rain begin to fall, gently tapping on a crystal dome overhead. As the intensity of the storm increases, the sound grows richer, a symphony of droplets creating a mesmerizing pattern. Each raindrop hits with a distinct, clear note, like tiny chimes singing in harmony. The sound envelops you, a rhythmic, soothing melody that resonates with the heart of the storm. I look over at Rain and say, "Do you know what people in our previous lives used to help defy gravity? Water! We can make a decently large pool. I can make the pool itself but I need you to make the crater. This will probably take a lot of energy out of us but once it's done our training can excel."

Rain grabs his sword and we walk outside to see the rain starting to pick up. Rain then walks about 30 feet and throws his sword way into the air first enlarging it then switching the weight of it at just the perfect time to where the blast made a huge circle. "Well it's not going to look the best but who can say they swam in a crystal pool." I say with a laugh. After that Rain and I go back into the dome and continue working out. We took notice that the rain started when the darkness took over so that would explain why everything's not dead and dried up. I assume that happens every night around the same time, so we can build our schedule around that. We continue to once again train and slowly get used to the gravity a few hours pass and we are sweating profusely the symphony of the rain has gotten louder so we step outside to cool off and check on the pool. As we step outside I can barely see anything infront of me it's absolutely crazy I've never in my life seen so much rain come down at once. Rain and I walk towards where the pool is and see that it's already full. But if that's the case why haven't we flooded. I look around and I notice it. Through all of this rain the ground was absorbing all of this like a sponge the plants were growing. What kind of planet is this? I look at Rain and say, "Well you ready to go for a swim" I then take off my shirt and shoes and jump in the pool. When I get in for the first time since we got here I was able to move around at my full potential I swim back and forth then I sink down to the bottom and jump as hard as I could. I moved so fast through the water and then the moment my torso was out of the water I plummeted back into the pool. Rain looks at me laughs takes off his shirt and jumps into the pool i let him enjoy it like i got to then when he floated towards me i looked at Rain and smile, the joy of the moment washing over me like the water around us. "You know," I say, splashing him playfully, "this isn't half bad for a makeshift home. Just the two of us, under a storm, living out some kind of adventure."

Rain emerges from the water, beads of rainwater glistening on his skin, and grins back at me. "I'll take stormy nights over bandits any day. Besides, when else will we get to train in a pool like this? Just think about it; we could be the first warriors to swim and fight. It'll be legendary!"

I can't help but laugh, the sound echoing softly against the rhythmic chant of the rain. "Legendary, huh? How about we just focus on swimming first?" With that, I dive under the water again, pushing myself to glide as fast as I can, the weightlessness exhilarating. Each kick sends ripples racing outwards, coating the surface with a shimmer of moonlight reflecting off the rain-soaked sky.

Emerging again, I see Rain has joined me in the depths, and we begin a series of underwater races, the water swirling around us. It's freeing, a moment of pure joy in the midst of uncertainty, and as we compete, our laughter bubbles up to the surface, overshadowing even the heavy downpour.

Suddenly, a rumble of thunder pulls us out of our reverie, jolting me upright in the water. "Alright, alright, let's get back to training before the sky decides to swallow us whole!" I declare, though a grin persists on my face.

We swim back to the edge of the pool, repeating our drills under the rain's nurturing shower. As we work, I can feel the weight of the world on our shoulders gradually lift. The storm above seemed to cleanse away the scars of our past, washing away the remnants of fear and doubt.

With each exercise, with each breath drawn in sync with the rain, I feel more connected not only to this realm but to Rain. In this crystal pool, surrounded by nature's paradox — the storm and our budding strength — I realize that we are forging our path, together, towards whatever awaits us in the unknown.

And with that thought lingering in my mind, I dive back in, ready to face whatever challenges await, both in the depths of the pool and beyond our crystal dome.

Once we get out we walk ever so slowly back to the dome the soreness in my body is killing me. Once inside the dome i sit on the ground and ask, "Hey Rain was the map in your pocket when you jumped in the water?" Rain looks at me with a shocked expression, then says, "Uh yeah it was in my pocket the whole time." I stand up and slowly shuffle towards him. He then reaches in his pocket and grabs out the map. It was still folded in his pocket. when he handed it to me to my surprise, it was completely dry. I opened it up and there was no wear or tear it was completely fine. I look closer and I noticed there was writing on one of the folds. As I inspect further I read,

"Power must be obtained through vast suffering. Within this realm lies four kingdoms. The first is the Plains of the lion which contains the pegasus, Gargoyle and the Manticore the king of the lion kingdom. The second is the Vorthalax Kingdom which contains the Sirens, the sea serpent and the Vorthalax Hydra. The third kingdom is the Kingdom of Molokros which contains the werewolf, minotaur and Molokros King of the underworld. The fourth kingdom is the which contains the griffin,Phoenix, and the Legendary dragon Aurexion never before beaten.

P.S.

There are other kingdoms but you must be truly ready before you complete those they will remain blank until all the keys are unlocked!"

As I finish reading this a I took a deep breath and passed out cold the same thing happened to Rain. I layed there for 2 whole days completely exhausted from everything my body has went through without proper rest. As the darkness enveloped me, I lay there, my body drained and lifeless, as if the very essence of my being had been drawn out. The weight of the world, magnified by this relentless gravity, seemed to crush every fiber of my being. Rain, too, was not spared from this relentless trial. For two endless days, we lay there, consumed by exhaustion, our spirits as heavy as the oppressive air around us. In the silence of that darkened world, we found ourselves on the brink of both physical and mental collapse, a testament to the relentless nature of our journey.

In the silence of night, the map spoke to us in visions, each of us receiving our own cryptic messages. We learned of its ability to become invisible, casting spells feeling vibrations along with superb hearing.

The Pegasus, with its magical prowess and ability to vanish, showed us its attack patterns. We understood that its super-hearing and magical strikes would test our skills in ways we could never have imagined.

Rain wakes up the next afternoon to see that I'm still asleep he thinks to himself I wonder if he is ok? He's been pushing his body to a whole new limit when he is resurrected again I can't even imagine how strong he's going to be. But I think I'm just going to train until he wakes up. Rain then spends the day swimming in the pool and gathering herbs and mushrooms to eat later. It's been 7 hours since noon the sun is starting to lower, as Rain is walking he sees this strange fruit hanging upside down on a tree almost like a balloon. He walks over to the tree and tries climbing his physical strength has allowed him to pull himself off the ground about 2 feet but fails in the end. More training then he thinks to himself and goes back to the crystal dome. We really should give this spot a name he thinks as he opens the vine door. Upon walking in he notices that I'm still not awake he thinks for a bit to do the math and says, "Oni has been asleep for 15 hours longer than me but once again what his body has been through it must recover…right? He goes to try and wake me up but I have no response starting to panic he starts shaking me calling out my name and eventually he crumbles to the floor and cries not sure if I'm okay. He is my brother after all.

What if he's not asleep but in a coma due to lack of nutrition. He stands up quicker than he ever has on this planet then walks outside uzuka in hand. I don't have enough herbs to make something consumable in liquid form, so my idea is to grab enough fruit for him to consume without having to chew it. Before you weirdos think anything I was going to grind it up with a mortar and pestle. But first I must obtain said fruit.

Rain then starts stretching looks up into the sky and says well tonight is going to be a long one for sure. He then starts walking as fast as he can manage without straining his body to much. He then grabs his sword wishing for the strength to run and get this fruit. Suddenly his sword made a faint red glow and Rain felt a surge of power rush through him, without hesitation he runs towards the tree and jumps to his surprise he actually left the ground and felt the freedom of air under his feet but as he looked up he seen a branch inches from his then BAM! Smacked his head right on it falling down to the ground he releases his sword and suddenly pain starts to form all in his chest, arms, legs, and head. His blood vessels start popping out, his face starts turning purple and suddenly he starts shaking and seizing. He thinks to himself what…happened to me. Suddenly the seizing stopped and he felt a warm feeling in his chest it spread through out his body as it did the pain faded when he looked up a look of shock and fear showed up on his face. Standing right in front of him was a mythical creature the Pegasus. The last we seen this creature it obliterated a chupacabra. But it did just heal me. Rain reaches out to the Pegasus slowly walks towards this magnificent creature but the moment he went to touch it the creature jumped into the sky and vanished. "Thank you for saving my life!" Rain yells. When he turned around he noticed that there was three pieces of fruit on a broken branch jammed under a rock. Did the Pegasus know I was wanting this? Are they watching me? Or are they watching us is the better question. As I inspect the fruit I notice that it's decently squishy but also very dense. So how does this fruit float and defy the gravity of this world?

Rain then takes his sword takes off his shirt and cuts the stem of one of the fruits the moment he did he thought he would need his shirt to catch the fruit before it floated away but to his surprise it fell to the ground like it was a brick. After completing this with each of them he used his shirt as a burlap and stuffed it with the fruit. "Now I just got to make a mortal and pestal and make it back to Oni." He then finds a large rock and mutters "Caeruleum." His sword glows blue then he slowly carved a medium sized circle hollowing it out. Next was the pestal this one was going to be difficult. Rain stood over the stone, his gaze fixed on the unyielding rock. The sword hummed faintly in his hand, its magic alive, ready to answer his command. But even with such power at his disposal, this would not be as simple as the fruit — this was shaping a tool of purpose, something to withstand time and use, something he needed.

Taking a deep breath, he pressed the tip of the sword into the center of the stone, feeling the energy pulse through the blade. The first cut was slow, deliberate. It carved into the rock with a deep, resonating sound, like a heartbeat echoing in the stillness. The stone was stubborn, reluctant to yield, but the sword moved without hesitation, gliding through it as if guided by an unseen hand.

With each stroke, the shape began to take form. Rain could feel the stone's resistance, the tension in the air thickening with every strike, as though the rock itself were holding its breath, waiting to see if Rain was worthy of its transformation. But his uzuka was relentless. The blade didn't waver, its edge cutting with a precision that felt almost divine. It was as if the sword understood that this pestle wasn't just a tool — it was a symbol, something born from the earth itself but destined for something greater.

Rain stepped back to survey his work. The stone had begun to take shape — the long, slender handle was emerging, and the base was widening into a perfect hemisphere, just the right size for crushing. He could feel the weight of the task ahead, though. The stone had softened under the uzukas power, but it was far from easy. The pestle had to be perfectly balanced — too light, and it would not serve its purpose; too heavy, and it would shatter under pressure.

With a determined look, Rain lowered the sword again. This time, he carved deeper, the blue glow of the blade flickering brighter as the stone obeyed his will. The pestle's form began to smooth, its rough edges slowly wearing away until it was almost flawless. The hollow of the base deepened, the curves of the handle refined with every careful stroke. But it wasn't perfect yet. The balance, the weight, the feel—Rain knew he had to test it.

He raised the pestle, inspecting it closely. The weight felt good in his hands, solid, but there was something off. Just a slight shift in the handle's angle, just a sliver of a difference. It was going to take more.

"I need it to be just right," he muttered to himself. The sword, as if understanding his frustration, hummed louder, more insistent. Rain held it steady, breathing deeply, focusing his intent on the stone. The uzuka flickered with its ancient energy, and Rain made the final cut, this one delicate, almost gentle, adjusting the curve ever so slightly.

The pestle, now complete, felt like an extension of his arm. He marveled at the smooth, hardened stone. It was not just a piece of rock anymore. It was a tool — forged by intent, shaped by power, and, most importantly, ready to serve its purpose.

Rain nodded to himself, feeling the connection to the pestle solidify, as if the stone and sword had made some unspoken pact. He turned to the burlap sack filled with the fruits, his work for now done. With the pestle in hand, he felt a small sense of accomplishment. Now he was ready to return to Oni. The journey ahead would be long, but this was a beginning. The pestle might have been difficult, but it was a necessary step. It took way to long to complete all of that…I hope Oni is okay. It took about 30 minutes to get back to Oni due to all the luggage I had but once i arrived he was just laying there his body looked considerably more paler. He must really need nutrition. Rain then says, "Viridis." His uzuka glowed green and it shrunk into the size of a cutting knife. Using it to separate the fruit from its seed, then proceeds to use the mortal and pestle to make the fruit into a pulp like substance. Rain grabbed Oni and put his back up against the wall, then holds the mortal to his lips forcing him to digest this fruit. Rain waited about 5 minutes then suddenly Oni sits up his eyes looking around frantically like he was terrified of something. "Oni what's wrong you look like you just seen a ghost." He just sits there I can see him shaking but I have no idea what's wrong with him.

What in the hell just happened to me it felt like I just woke up from a coma. But what I saw there was terrifying. That man… I see Rain talking but all I can hear is that man's icy voice.

"Oni!" Rain shouts. I look up at Rain he looks worried, "What's wrong bro? Did I oversleep?" I say with a slight chuckle trying to ease the tension all of a sudden Rain moves fast faster than I've seen him move since being here and kick me in my face so hard that I fling into the walls. "What the fuck man!" Rage starts boiling up in me but I can't use magic in this dome so I just sit back down. Rain then says, "I seen a Pegasus. I was on the brink of death and it healed me not only that, he grabbed that fruit that I fed you. But get this as soon as it jumped in the air and started flying it disappeared."

"Okayyy…but I'm still wondering why the fuck did you kick me?" I say with a pissed off tone.

Rain turns his head and smirks, "Well you did kind of say it but mainly because I felt like it."

"Whatever. What's this fruit I was-." Rain then cuts me off.

"Not so fast first off you tell me what happened in your head while you were asleep for an entire day."

I can tell he is genuinely worried so I take a deep breath. "Rain I think Takitsu has been here for some reason he was able to invade my mind filling it with memories and a message. He told me that we are targets of the AA alliance. It's something about our souls he's been able to use demon souls to manufacture weapons with the ability to kill demons. This man he is an evil genius. I hate everything about this guy but his brain is so advanced even for someone that lives in Jaruke. But there's one more thing I think he has a demon boy working and training under him. Something about him being 1 of 25 celestial class demons of our age. There's just one more thing he's coming here."
