Chapter 115: [115] The First Experiment

While the Uchiha clan and the Police Department were still "suffering" through their studies and adjustments, Yuhara, Shisui, and Fugaku had arrived at their newly established lab.

It wasn't very large, having just been built, but the environment and structure were impressive—bright lighting, solid ventilation, and a reinforced underground location to prevent collapse during battle. Combined with neatly arranged equipment, the lab finally felt like a real research space.

Inside, several young Uchiha—just one week into their medical training—were fumbling with instruments, clearly overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Fugaku and Shisui lay on medical beds, connected to monitoring equipment. Yuhara stood silently, observing.

Clearly, the two were already undergoing testing, and Yuhara looked a little tense.

He still remembered how a few days ago, they'd come to him with a bold request.

"Isn't this a little too soon?" Yuhara sighed, glancing between them. Fugaku had insisted on starting right away.

"Our medics have only been training for about a month. Medical ninjutsu is no joke—can they even handle this kind of task?"

Training a medic was never easy. Even though Yuhara knew White Zetsu cells could benefit the Mangekyō, and the experiment wouldn't require much, it was still risky. Danzo had used Hashirama's cells and suppressed the side effects with Sharingan—but not everyone was like Obito or Madara.

If anything went wrong, he doubted these novice medics could handle it.

"There's some risk, yeah—but if that guy could survive it, we should be fine too."

Fugaku took over the conversation, speaking seriously to Yuhara and Shisui.

"Let me go first. My results could help guide future experiments.

I believe I can handle it—for the clan's sake.

Of course, I'm not throwing my life away—I still have a wife and son to care for.

Let's take it slow. Even if our medics aren't fully trained, they can monitor vitals and react if needed.

Clan Head, Deputy Clan Head—I'm counting on you."

His sincerity moved both Yuhara and Shisui. Volunteering as a test subject wasn't just about courage—Fugaku was gambling with his life. Yuhara couldn't help but think he resembled Uchiha Izuna, as if trying to atone for something.

Though Yuhara preferred caution, he couldn't deny Fugaku's reasoning. And waiting for medics to be fully trained could take ages—time they didn't have. The Uchiha needed power boosts now. Plus, if their strength grew, Yuhara's own points would increase—an all-around win.

Just as Yuhara was about to respond, Shisui chimed in.

"I want to join Fugaku-senpai. One data point isn't enough. Two subjects mean better comparisons."

Seeing both of them so determined, Yuhara could only nod.

He did have some confidence. A small dose was manageable. The Six Paths power came from the fusion of Indra (Yin Release) and Asura (Yang Release). Add Sage Mode and you get Madara's evolution path.

Madara handled it partly because he was Indra's reincarnation—but also because he had the Eternal Mangekyō, which balanced the power.

Fugaku and Shisui had Mangekyō, and White Zetsu's body had been genetically modified by Black Zetsu. That's likely why Obito could use it even before awakening his Mangekyō.

Same with Danzo—he suppressed Hashirama's cells with Sharingan. Without it, he'd have turned into a literal tree.

Yuhara figured Danzo probably relied on those cells just to activate Izanagi.

"So… it should be fine, right?"

"How's their status?"

After waiting a while, Yuhara finally asked. The two looked calm but flushed. Sweat dripped down their faces—they looked feverish.

Was this going to be a failure? He really didn't want this experiment to flop.

"Clan Head, both subjects are experiencing reactions.

But the dosage was low, so the symptoms are mild. Their bodies are gradually adapting."

The answer came from a young Uchiha—one of the top trainees in medical ninjutsu. Clean background, with a father in the Police Department—ideal for lab work.

All trainees were chosen for their trustworthiness. This was just the first batch—many more would follow.

Yuhara nodded. Truthfully, his knowledge of this stuff was limited. He'd been a liberal arts student in his past life—science and math weren't his strong suits.

Fugaku and Shisui hadn't done anything as extreme as Madara, who just shoved the thing in and stitched himself up. Instead, they'd cut a small piece from Obito's arm, refined it into liquid, and injected it—a much safer method.

Still, this didn't look too great right now.

"They're adapting, huh?"

Yuhara studied the medic—technically older than him, but he was the clan head here.

"Yes, sir. That's what the data shows."

The pressure was real—but the young Uchiha answered honestly.

"The injected material is unique—completely opposite to their own power.

But it's adapting. A balance is forming.

Still, since it's their first time, they're not fully used to it yet."

"I see..." Yuhara frowned, then waved his hand. "Everyone out. I'll call you back in later."

"Yes, Clan Head!" All the medics filed out obediently. They may've felt uneasy, but they wouldn't question a direct order.

Once the lab was cleared, Yuhara activated his Mangekyō. While it couldn't see through like the Byakugan, it could detect chakra.

In an instant, he saw it—two clashing chakra forces inside both Shisui and Fugaku. Likely the cause of their discomfort.

The two chakra types were clearly polar opposites—like mortal enemies.

Still, they were evenly matched, with Uchiha chakra slightly overpowering the foreign force. Was it because the dose was too small?

He noticed the foreign chakra hadn't disappeared—it was slowly integrating, holding its ground.

"How are you two feeling?"

He finally asked after observing in silence.

"From what I can tell, and based on the data, it doesn't look too bad.

But I want your personal impressions."

"Well, at first it was rough. I could feel something violently rejecting my body," Fugaku answered after a moment, sounding composed.

"But it's easing up now. My body's still adjusting, but I can feel that power settling in. I think, given time, things will improve."

"My experience was similar," Shisui added. Being younger, he looked better than Fugaku—and more insightful.

"But I also feel something else. It's like the new power is nourishing my body. Especially my eyes—they feel… different."

Different?

Yuhara instinctively looked at him.

And sure enough, he saw faint traces of chakra-like energy flowing into Shisui's eyes—barely noticeable, but there.

At that moment, Yuhara finally relaxed.

The experiment hadn't been a failure.
