Chapter 5: [Herta Space Station 1]

{Herta Space Station}

A man with white-purple hair and eyes as purple as amethyst, his face concealed by a white three-eyed fox mask adorned with mysterious black patterns, walked calmly through the empty, deserted corridor. The atmosphere around him was filled with chaos, with the blaring alarms that made one want to smash them and the Void Rangers from the Anti-Matter Army invading for unknown reasons.

They charged at the young man, but suddenly his body froze as if time had stopped. Tiny metal chains resembling silver threads reflected the soft light, stretching across the corridor from the tip of the trench knife. When he swung it, the body of the antimatter soldier was effortlessly sliced into pieces, as easy as cutting through soft tofu. His black jacket was stained with a yellowish substance that gradually evaporated into the air.

"No one here, as the script says, so this pne probably isn't needed anymore." The young man removed his mask and slowly scanned the twisted figures, letting them be sucked into a small dimensional hole.

"You're really on time, Death Star~" said the woman with wine-purple hair in a white dress, draped with a black jacket, in a voice as enchanting and captivating as a spell as she walked towards Death Star.

"Kafka? What about Silver Wolf? Shouldn't you two have come together?" Deathstar pulled the silver chain back, with the other end resembling a lantern the size of a fist, its surface smooth and black, with a central part shimmering in a blue hue like an illusion.

"Probably around here~, you know people who like to pop in and out on a whim aren't just you~."

"Hey, at least I reply to your messages more often than this guy, right?" A small voice came from the empty air before a cubic dimension resembling computer graphics slowly took shape, transforming into a petite girl with silver hair in a jacket that exposed her midriff, unzipped almost to the bottom, revealing a top resembling a black and white sports bra.

"And do you think the reason I'm not available to reply to messages is because I'm busy playing games with someone? Who is it that keeps losing but still wants to keep playing?"

"Hey, I'm not that bad! Didn't you lose to me two or three times too?!" Silver Wolf glared back at the snow-haired man with a somewhat displeased expression.

"Heh heh, and those few times come from the dozens of times you lost~." Skill-issue~, Git Gud, okay?"

"Are you deliberately saying this because I know the meaning, huh?"

"Alright, alright, let's not fight right now~, you wouldn't want to accidentally clash with the Astral Express, would you?" Kafka walked in between Death Star and Silver Wolf, who were glaring at each other as if they were about to bite.

"Ah, you're right. Damn it, why do you have to do something like this? It's so depressing."

Death Star took a step back and sheathed the knife into the side pocket of her left waist.

"What's this? Don't tell me you've gotten attached to her already~? Oh, how heartbreaking, you little romantic." Silver smirked, her voice slightly muffled because she was chewing on a piece of gum that was too big for her mouth, and she was still pressing the game console in her hands without a care.

"..." Death star in silence, not saying a word. His face became eerily expressionless, just like when he performed his duty of killing those who dared to oppose the slaves of fate, with an unchanging and unwavering expression and eyes.

Before gently pinching the tip of Silver Wolf's nose, making her stretch her face and tiptoe as if about to float off the ground, "...*Hmph~*" Death Star released her hand while smirking with satisfaction as if she had won without saying a word.

"What does that face mean? *Moo~!*" Silver Wolf glared with displeasure, puffing her cheeks like apples.

"Nothing much, just suddenly realized, 'Why bother arguing with someone like you?'~" Death Star smirked before lifting his mask to cover his face again, while Silver Wolf tried to hit him but it didn't faze him at all.

"*Hehe~* Just as I thought, you two look really cute together." Kafka chuckled, finding the scene in front of her amusing.

"I don't know why, but when she said that, it gave me the creeps." Death Star and Silver Wolf said in unison, turning to look at Kafka with disgusted expressions.

*Hmph* Silverwolf stepped back from the Death Star. "Fine, I'll let it go today since I'm in a good mood." With that, she took a spray can from her waist belt and sprayed her emblem on the ground to declare her dominance.

"Teasing Herta will just get you a retort..." Death Star thought silently. "By the way, the portraits on the walkway seem to be members of the Genius Society, right?" Death Star scanned the holographic images of the six individuals on either side of the walkway.

"It seems to be like that." Kafka walked over to the first projection and examined it for a moment.

"...like this one, Polka Kakamon, 'Lord of Silence.' Look at her empty face. This person goes around destroying her own portraits and statues throughout the universe."

"Why?" Death Star frowned in confusion, but not because of Polka Kakamon's reasoning.

"If you don't want anyone to know your face, just keep changing it until no one can tell which is real and which is fake."

"Wow~ Just like a professional's opinion, is this really you, Polka~" Kafka commented while gently pinching the cheeks under Death Star's mask with affection.

"Anyway, why bother? Let's just get back to work." Silver Wolf shrugged while watching another projection, which was of Screwllum, the 76th member of the Genius Society.

"Hmph, you say you don't care, but you're staring at your rival with such intensity."

"*Ha...* I told you, back then I didn't know it was him..." Silver Wolf stepped back and turned to the projection across from her.

"I'm more interested in this picture~, see, even though they say it's a portrait, it doesn't look anything like the real person at all~." Kafka herself showed considerable interest in the painting, even walking closer to examine it with a sly smile.

"The latest member of the Genius Society, the 85th member, the creator of the Theory of Life and Wisdom Equations, the inventor of the Genetic Evolution Serum, the developer of the Recovery Elixir that shook the entire medical field, and the Chairman of the once-no-name organization from the most dangerous fringe galaxy that everyone thought was uninhabited, till in can rival IPC."

"Augustin Regulus Lionheart de Abyss, or Austin Lionheart, the president of THC from Abyss Domain. It's surprising that someone like Herta would put this guy's picture up. So, what do you think, Mr. expert? Do you have any opinions on this?" Silver wolf smirked in the same way as Kafka and turned towards Deathstar.

"Who knows, Herta is the ultimate genius who only cares about the yet-to-be-explained existence of the universe. Besides, she is the one who discovered the method of reversing the aging of the body. She might be interested in the equation of life and wisdom. Everyone knows that the theories that have been revealed are just the tip of the iceberg, yet no one has come forward to demand anything because even the parts that have been disclosed have already overturned their previous understanding of everything they knew about life. Simply put, those people are afraid to know more than this. For now, we only see Herta, but who knows, there might be many more geniuses in the Society who are interested in that equation."

"'Everyone knows,' huh? Well, now I'm really curious to hear how Herta will talk about it." Silverwolf grinned even wider after hearing Death Star's words before reaching out to play the audio recording on the projector.

"You're really interested in other people's business, aren't you?" But before she could respond, Death Star had already grabbed her arm. Even though she couldn't see his expression right now, she could tell from his tone that he wasn't very pleased.

"Why not? It sounds fun, doesn't it? It's not like we don't have time. Besides, I'm curious too about what kind of person this Austin is in Herta's eyes." Kafka chuckled to herself, giving a look that signaled to let Silver Wolf have her way.

"Alright," Death Star shrugged and released the arm of the silver-haired girl. "I also want to know how it was recorded."

"Well then~, can I just copy the audio file too~?" With that, Silver Wolf opened the audio file.

"Austin Lionheart, Augustin Regulus Lionheart de Abyss. I understand why you don't fully disclose the equation of life; just releasing the unimportant, shallow parts has already made the old folks dizzy. But hey, even though I know it's probably difficult, could you consider sharing some of the knowledge you have with us? I'm serious; I genuinely admire you. One of my colleagues is very interested in your equation too. Let me tell you, it's not easy for her to be interested in anything. Oh, and they say Nous has been eyeing you ever since you left the Abyss domain. Does that mean you could solve the equation of life while you were there? Or are there other equations you can solve? Hey, would you like to share a bit? I promise it won't be a loss for you."

"...so straightforward," Death Star commented indifferently after the recording ended.

"I've heard that he was the easiest person to talk to in the Genius Society before the 85th genius, though I don't really know how the others are. Anyway, you seem very interested in him. So, do you have anything to say? You mentioned there are other equations too?" Silver Wolf turned to Death Star.

"Indeed, the equations that person can decipher total seven, all possessing powers beyond the realm of imagination. Although they are called equations and used in scientific contexts, their original form is runes on the rings of sorcery. Each type possesses powers beyond the reach of ordinary humans, to the extent that the people there call them miracles."

"Magic arts? Speaking of which, Abyss Domain has that kind of knowledge too, right? Science and magic—I feel like those two terms don't really go together."

"Magic is just a branch of science that arises from the user's understanding of the world from a different perspective than that of a scientist. You've seen me use spells or skills many times already, haven't you? It's similar to your Ether Editing, isn't it?"

"Is that what you call the Infinity Intercept?" It really is similar to mine. And even though I don't want to admit it, its power and scope are indeed far superior to Aether Editing.

"See? Infinity Intercept is a skill created from the combination of magical arts and other arts, forming three skills that people call the three supreme powers of the Abyss Domain Emperor." A purple-white control panel, glowing like neon light, appeared beneath Death Star's palm.

"And then you use one of those thirds; won't the future be tough?" Kafka looked at the young man. Although it wasn't very obvious, her eyes showed a hint of concern and worry underneath.

"Come on, he has three things and seven equations. What's the harm in borrowing one~" Death Star pressed a few hexagonal buttons on the Infinity Intercept control panel, deleting the Void Ranger soldiers that charged in, turning them into cubes of the same color as the Infinity Intercept before they disappeared.

"The Anti-Matter Army is starting to invade again, huh? Let's get back to work~" With that, Kafka walked out from the front of the projection, with Death Star and Silver Wolf following closely beside.

"I just found the rare artifact collection catalog of Herta on this space station, quite interesting." Silverwolf looked down at the Ether Editing control panel, scrolling through the list of information inside with interest.

"Is there a nice coat stored away, I wonder~" Kafka and the others easily walked through the thick, tightly shut door, thanks to the Infinity Intercept's modification that sent it to a dimension outside the physical plane for a moment.

"Then we have to see it with our own eyes." Death Star opened the same catalog as Silver Wolf. Infinity Intercept looked for something eye-catching to kill time while heading to the target.

After the three of them passed through the veil of rare objects that Herta used to hide Stellaron, they arrived at the target of this mission, which was deep within the space station. The three stood in front of a display pedestal with a soft white light swirling around its center.

"There is still another layer of defense, but it's not very tight; it can be disabled in no time." Death Star pressed down on the Infinity Intercept control panel, and suddenly the energy shield covering Stellaron disappeared immediately.

"Great! In that case, please get ready to take care of things~" Kafka turned to Silver Wolf while walking towards Stellaron.

"I'll go prepare an exit for us. If everything goes according to the script, the train crew should be arriving soon." Death Star walked past Kafka and Silver Wolf, using the Infinity Intercept to open a light door that connected to another place.

"Are you not going to say goodbye?" Silverwolf took the cube out of the Ether Editing. It transformed into a young woman with silver-gray hair, wearing a knee-length coat and a short black skirt.

"No need; in the future, we'll probably talk about both the things we want and don't want a lot anyway." After saying that, he walked into the lighthouse without looking back even once.
