Fate: Question And Answer System of Traversing Heroic Spirits

Chapter 225: Chapter 225: Guilt, Maybe, But No Regrets

[An arrow shot from the sky at a speed as fast as sound. Avicebron had no chance to block it, and it pierced his shoulder directly.]

[It went without saying that the one who had acted was Chiron, who had arrived late.]

[Fiore: "Archer!"]

["Yes."]

[Chiron nodded to her, then turned his cold gaze toward Avicebron. "You narrowly escaped death, Caster. But the next arrow will not miss its mark."]

[Avicebron: "Humph, Archer, so you've chosen to target me? Very well. But..."]

[Though the arrow had only pierced his shoulder, Avicebron looked as though he had sustained a severe injury.]

[This was due to the frailty of his original body. Even as a Heroic Spirit, he retained the physical weaknesses of his mortal life.]

[Chiron: "Indeed, even if I kill you, your Noble Phantasm will not stop."]

[Avicebron: "Hmm? If that is the case, why bother aiming for me?"]

[Chiron: "The betrayer must be dealt with as soon as possible. There is no need to hesitate."]

[Avicebron: "...How irrational. I didn't expect you to be so emotional."]

[For most, this reasoning was entirely logical. Yet, to Avicebron, it seemed incomprehensible.]

Waver: "You can tell that Avicebron's values differ significantly from those of ordinary people."

Tohsaka Rin: "But shouldn't we focus on the golem? It won't vanish even if Avicebron dies."

Kayneth: "Indeed. Though the golem is Avicebron's Noble Phantasm, it functions more like a work of art. It won't disappear just because its creator leaves the stage."

Tohsaka Rin: "That makes it even worse. This giant looks like it's going to be a nightmare to handle."

[Without paying further attention to Avicebron's words, Chiron unleashed another flurry of arrows. Two were fired almost simultaneously, striking Avicebron in vital spots.]

[This time, Avicebron made no effort to defend himself. The arrows pierced through his forehead and chest, and his body fell from the golem's shoulder to the ground below.]

[However, since he was a Heroic Spirit, Avicebron's spiritual body did not dissipate immediately. He clung to life for a few final moments.]

["What a pity, Archer. I have accomplished everything I wished to do. Now that this Noble Phantasm has been activated, I have no regrets."]

[Even as he said this, there was a lingering reluctance in his tone.]

[He had desperately wanted to witness his Noble Phantasm bring forth the legendary paradise. But now, it was impossible.]

[In the moments before his death, his thoughts softened, revealing a rare clarity.]

[No matter what excuses he could conjure, the fact remained that he had betrayed his Master to achieve his wish. This was undeniable.]

[Deep within his heart, guilt resided, an indelible sense of wrongdoing.]

[Yet, despite this guilt, he harbored no regrets. He faced the consequences of his betrayal with acceptance, even though his reluctance remained.]

[The one thing he could not accept was losing *him*. That was the Noble Phantasm he had sacrificed everything to create. There was no way he could let *him* perish now.]

Waver: "I didn't expect this guy to feel guilt at all."

Tohsaka Rin: "Who knows if it's genuine? Maybe it's just crocodile tears."

Chihiro didn't comment on the matter, but it seemed likely that Avicebron's guilt was genuine. After all, in Fate/Grand Order, Avicebron had helped Ritsuka in the Lostbelt and had mentioned this betrayal before his death, expressing his deep regret.

["I entrust everything to you, Light of Wisdom! With your power, I believe... you will surely be able to create paradise on this earth! Save the world, save humanity, and save my people!"]

[Avicebron's body began to dissolve. Just like Roche and the animals before him, he turned into nutrients that were absorbed into his treasured creation.]

["What?!"]

[The scene left the onlookers stunned.]

["Buzz..."]

[The golem instantly grew stronger. Having absorbed a Servant's immense magical energy, its power surged dramatically.]

[Then, the golem's gaze shifted and locked onto Fiore.]

[It was murderous intent. It seemed to understand that Fiore was Archer's Master.]

[The giant raised its right hand, and a sword with a black, metallic sheen materialized. Without hesitation, it swung the blade toward Fiore.]

["Oh no! Run!"]

[Astolfo grabbed Fiore and leapt from the castle wall. In mid-air, he summoned his griffin, which carried the two of them away from the golem.]

[However, the griffin was still in poor condition after its previous injuries. Carrying two passengers proved to be a strain.]

Tohsaka Rin: "Wait, this thing has a weapon?!"

Kayneth: "Avicebron sacrificed himself to further empower the golem. It's no longer just a construct—it's something else entirely."

Waver: "And now, without Avicebron's command, it's acting independently. It's developed a will of its own."

[The golem prepared to give chase, but Chiron and Jeanne reacted quickly, launching an offensive to divert its attention.]

[Jeanne: "So this is the 'Original Human.' The Black Faction's Caster truly left us with a daunting challenge."]

[Although Jeanne appeared frail, her strength was undeniable. With her indestructible holy flag, she managed to deflect the golem's massive strikes head-on.]

[Chiron, meanwhile, was not idle. Drawing his bow, he loosed a powerful arrow that pierced one of the golem's eyes, forcing it to stumble backward.]

[Jeanne seized the opportunity, shouting as she pushed the giant's obsidian sword aside. She then spun with her flag, striking the golem's knee. The blow shattered the joint, forcing the colossus to retreat and fall from the cliff to the ground below.]

[For the moment, those in the castle were safe.]

Sieg: "Great! Everyone in the castle is safe now."

Jeanne: "No, this safety won't last."

Her observation was proven correct as the golem's damaged knee regenerated instantly.

[Chiron swiftly loosed another arrow, his movements fluid and precise, aiming once again for the golem's eyes.]

[But this time, the golem raised its arm and deflected the projectiles mid-air.]

[The giant's movements were shockingly fast. On flat terrain, its capabilities were no longer restrained by the confines of the castle.]

[Afterward, the golem jumped back to gain distance. It pulled the arrow from its eye, and the wound healed completely in an instant.]

["Healing magic?!" a shocked mage exclaimed.]

[Jeanne: "No, it's likely a blessing from the earth itself."]

[As a "primitive human" born from a self-regulating Reality Marble, the golem's presence continuously transformed its surroundings into paradise. In paradise, no injury or wound could exist.]

[In other words, the arrow wound simply ceased to exist—as if it had never happened.]

[Jeanne: "We must destroy it quickly! If it continues to transform the environment into paradise, it will become immortal!"]

[Currently, the land had not yet been fully transformed into paradise. That was why the arrows had managed to injure it earlier. But as time passed, the golem's regenerative powers would only grow stronger.]

[Once its immortality was fully established, no one would be able to defeat it.]

Tohsaka Rin: "Are you serious? This thing is basically unkillable!"

Tohsaka Tokiomi: "It likely has a weak point, like its core. It's still a man-made construct, after all."

Waver: "Even so, it's already absurdly powerful."

[Jeanne darted forward, dodging the giant's sword, and struck its arm with her flag. However, she could not reach higher than its arm with her current abilities.]

[She couldn't destroy the golem, only delay it. She knew this was a losing strategy, but she had no choice.]

[She did possess a method to destroy it, but it was a forbidden move. It wasn't something she could use lightly in this situation.]

[The Black Faction's forces watched in growing frustration.]

[Fiore: "Rider, isn't there anything in your Noble Phantasm that could stop it?"]

[Astolfo: "I'm sorry, but no. The horn and grimoire won't be effective, the lance can't deal enough damage, and my Hippogriff is too injured to fight at full strength. Even at full power, I'm not sure I could defeat it!"]

[Fiore clenched her teeth, considering whether to order Chiron to use his Noble Phantasm.]

[But if even that failed, they would truly be out of options.]

[Chiron could sense her hesitation and spoke calmly. "Master, please give the command."]

[Fiore took a deep breath. "...Alright, Archer. I'll authorize the release of your Noble Phantasm. But first, analyze the situation thoroughly. We must be certain this will work."]

["Understood."]

[Chiron's eyes narrowed as he focused intently on the golem, his keen sight analyzing its every detail.]
