Fate Reignites: My Rampage in a World Where Time Stops

Chapter 115 Ji Huai's Another Discussion (April 1550 Monthly Ticket Additional Update)

After hearing what Fan Gang had said, Qin Chuan's brow slightly furrowed, almost imperceptibly.

This was what Huaqing considered his level?

Had there not been the previous "A+" rating from Yan University, he might not have had any issues with this rating. However, given Huaqing only offered an "A-" when Yan University, ranked equally, gave an "A+", the difference was clear.

Moreover, having carefully considered Fan Gang's recent words, Qin Chuan sensed something wasn't quite right.

Fan Gang didn't mention a word about Huaqing's cultivation method being inferior to Yan University's, nor did he comment on Yan University's strengths, choosing instead to focus solely on the merits of Huaqing.

Admittedly, this was the role of an admissions officer and couldn't be faulted, but with the conversation he had had with Zhou Xiaoyu the day before, it was clear which institution was superior.

Comparatively, Qin Chuan, already inclined towards Yan University because of Ji Huai, found himself even less interested in Huaqing.

After pondering for a moment, he decided to dismiss this Huaqing representative in the same manner as he had with others from different universities earlier.

However, before Qin Chuan could speak, Fan Gang spoke first.

"Qin Chuan, do you have any other questions about our Huaqing?" Fan Gang asked with a smile, taking out a document from the briefcase he carried, "If not, here's a letter of intent you can look over."

Qin Chuan took it absentmindedly and after quickly scanning it his brows furrowed again.

According to the document, if he signed it now, the next time he took the practical assessment, his guaranteed lowest rating would no longer be "A-", but an "A".

The catch was, he wouldn't be able to choose any other universities.

The agreement itself was unproblematic, yet of the nine universities he had encountered, Huaqing was the only one attempting to secure his commitment right now.

Silently putting down the document and observing Fan Gang's confident smile, Qin Chuan felt he could be straightforward.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Fan, but I can't sign this agreement," he said, noting Fan Gang's smile stiffen slightly, "Actually, Miss Zhou from Yan University approached me yesterday, and their provisional rating for me was 'A+'."

"You said...'A+'?" Fan Gang's smile vanished, experiencing for the first time a slip beyond his control, "Zhou Xiaoyu provided this?"

"Yes," Qin Chuan nodded.

"How could she..." Fan Gang started to speak impulsively, caught himself upon realizing Qin Chuan was still present, and stopped short, though his expression darkened considerably.

The provisional ratings given by the observers weren't arbitrary.

They didn't have the authority to assign ratings whimsically.

Different universities had different standards for provisional ratings, and observers merely relied on these standards to assess and rate candidates.

Huaqing and Yan University, being of the same tier, followed the exact same rating criterions.

Of this, Fan Gang was certain.

And the score he had assigned to Qin Chuan was entirely fair.

Was "A-" really that low?

Relative to the ratings other universities had given to Qin Chuan, indeed, it was lower.

But Huaqing stood behind him!

As one of the top two universities in Yanhuang Country, Huaqing's standards were notably stricter. By Huaqing's standards, Qin Chuan's performance the day before merited an "A-".

Had Qin Chuan not slain that black demon cat at the end, he would have been graded at a B.

The grades "A" and "B" represented significantly different ensured ratings.

Fan Gang was confident his provisional rating had been accurate.

Therefore, the problem lay with Yan University.

That Zhou Xiaoyu had managed to assign a provisional rating two levels higher than his was suspicious, and it was hard to say whether there were undue influences at play.

Fan Gang gritted his teeth.

As an observer, giving an inaccurate tentative rating would be punished, and if the rating jumped a level, such as from B to A, altering the guaranteed final rating, he would be directly disciplined, or even dismissed.

In just a moment, Fan Gang understood Zhou Xiaoyu's intent.

Both their ratings were at A, so even if Zhou Xiaoyu's rating was incorrect, he would only face minor penalties, but her two-tier higher provisional rating had severely outmaneuvered Huaqing!

Moreover, Zhou Xiaoyu had met Qin Chuan yesterday!

Yesterday, as the top Official Level Player, Qin Chuan was taken away by Lan Cheng, and Fan Gang never got the chance to meet him. How did Zhou Xiaoyu do it?

Had he known earlier that Zhou Xiaoyu had met with Qin Chuan, he would have certainly adjusted his strategy today!

That woman!

"So it's like that, then let Qin Chuan think it over a bit more." Fan Gang forced a slight smile, took back the agreement, and walked out of the meeting room.

After leaving the meeting room, he immediately called Zhou Xiaoyu. Once he heard the voice on the other end, he spoke with a dark expression, "Teacher Zhou, quite the tactic."

"You'd rather accept punishment just to obstruct our Huaqing recruits?"

"Hehe." From the other end of the phone, Zhou Xiaoyu's light voice came, "Seen Qin Chuan, have you? You sound quite deflated, Teacher Fan!"

Fan Gang was quiet for a moment, "How did you find Qin Chuan yesterday?"

"Teacher Fan might have forgotten, I'm a local from Changxing City." Zhou Xiaoyu laughed, "It's only natural to have some well-connected relatives here."

"Fine, fine, fine." Fan Gang clenched his teeth, "Illegally adjusting provisional ratings to maliciously compete in recruitment, I'll report this upwards."

"Suit yourself." Zhou Xiaoyu hung up.

"He really thinks I adjusted his provisional rating?" Looking at her phone that displayed "Call Ended," Zhou Xiaoyu shook her head and chuckled, then dialed another number.

"Zixiu, thanks for yesterday, I'll treat you to a meal when you're free."

-----------------

For rejecting Huaqing, Qin Chuan didn't feel much psychological burden.

If he had to choose between Huaqing and Yan University, Yan University seemed more fitting for him.

After Fan Gang, no other university recruitment staff came knocking, likely realizing their lack of strength and giving up upon hearing the news.

Time moved on, and soon it was evening for the Extraordinary Course.

During the Extraordinary Theory Class, Zhou Zixiu had already finished discussing the Ice Attribute and was now discussing the Earth Attribute.

Xiaopang, touching on his mastered attribute, was more serious than ever, and even proactively asked Qin Chuan about parts he didn't understand.

Qin Chuan earnestly answered Xiaopang, completely unaware that today Zhou Zixiu looked at him more times than usual.

After the theory class, it was time for practical combat.

With Qin Chuan's abilities reaching Official Level Player, there were few students left in the Extraordinary Practical Combat Class that could spar with him.

Thankfully, due to diligent cultivation, the recommended frequency for practicing "Basic Boxing Skill" had increased from twice to four times a day.

Others practiced boxing for half an hour and sparred for the other half, while he practiced for a full hour.

"Clang—"

A loud clanging sound of metal resonated across the field as Ji Huai's special training began.

Perhaps the increase in Extraordinary Value had somewhat strengthened his body, or perhaps yesterday's practical assessment gave him new insights into sword skills, but at the end of an hour's intensive training, Qin Chuan managed to block Ji Huai for eight rounds for the first time.

Before he could even rejoice, Ji Huai threw a Physical Recovery Fruit at him and spoke sternly.

"We haven't sparred in a few days, come on, give it a try!"
