Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 40: Watching drama

In the sixth century AD, in a grand and magnificent church, an elderly man was praying beneath a colossal statue of Christ. This old man was the Pope. He wore a simple robe of white and red and was devoutly engaged in worship. Suddenly, the sound of the church door opening interrupted his prayer. The Pope, annoyed, turned toward the door and, to his surprise, saw a young man entering the church with grace. This young man had a beautiful face and was dressed in the classic attire of a magician. His black hair and dark eyes made him incredibly attractive, and his presence carried a sacred, heavenly aura.

The young man walked calmly and sat on one of the chairs. The Pope, tears streaming down his face, knelt before him. He quickly realized that this young man was no ordinary human but a high-ranking angel. The Pope, as the leader of Christianity, easily recognized his holy attributes. The angel made no effort to conceal his identity. The Pope was curious about why an angel had come to Earth, but he dared not raise his head to ask. Several minutes passed before the young man opened his mouth and calmly said, "I need an identity, a high-ranking one،To go to Britain

The Pope was slightly puzzled. Why would an angel want to go to Britain? Perhaps it was related to demons, but that wasn't important. The angel's request took priority for him. The Pope respectfully replied, "I will prepare it for you as soon as possible, my lord." Then, keeping his head bowed, he left the church. The young man, who was actually Shikama Doji, watched the Pope's departure with amusement. He thought to himself how strange humans were

Of course, this body was not Shikama Doji's true body. While traveling through the starry sky, he had sensed the presence of the new owner of Grimoire 999. Grimoire 999 had had many owners over thousands of years, but all of them died after a few days or weeks. However, the new owner, Vortigern the White Dragon, had survived for a long time. This intrigued Shikama Doji. Therefore, he separated a portion of his consciousness and placed it into a vessel. This vessel was like a clone, but unlike ordinary vessels, it possessed greater power. Shikama Doji could use up to 85% of his original power in this body. For higher-dimensional beings like him, there was no difference between the main and secondary bodies, and he could use the power of his main body indefinitely.

The reason he requested an identity from the Pope was that Shikama Doji wanted to go to Britain to witness the battle between the Red and White Dragons up close. Of course, he could easily distort the memories of everyone in Britain and create a false identity for himself, but that would be boring. He preferred to obtain the identity he needed through the Pope.

But could Vortigern, with Grimoire 999, achieve his goals? His aim was to halt the collapse of the Divine Element and restore the Age of Gods. The answer to this question was no. Vortigern couldn't even release a fraction of Grimoire 999's true power. He was not a magician but a warrior. If he could absorb all the knowledge of Grimoire 999, he would approach the transcendent power close to absolute knowledge and absolute power, but that was impossible. With the limited knowledge he had gained from Grimoire 999, he couldn't resist the will of Gaia and Alaya. He was merely flailing and struggling, but the Age of Gods was nearing its end, and no one could stop it. Thus, Vortigern's defeat was inevitable.

Shikama Doji simply wanted to go to Britain to watch this drama unfold. As an observer, he wanted to witness the end of the Age of Gods and Vortigern's futile efforts. For him, it was an interesting and entertaining spectacle.
