Fate/One with Nature

Chapter 2: How it Began [2]

Getting reincarnated is not a pretty process like anime and manga made it out to be.

I mean, people don't get to choose how they're born before, what makes them think they'll get to choose how they're reborn?

You don't get to choose where, when, or how you're reborn. Heck, you don't even get to choose WHAT you're reborn to.

You can end up being a human, God, animal, or even a freaking imp...

"Urgh, my head," I said feeling pain everywhere. I tried to get up, but that made things worse because it made me notice that my body also hurts.

Moving was hard, and I wasn't talking about the pain. It felt... weird to move. Like there were casts over my body with barely any room between the joints. I think I heard something squeaking like an old door when I managed to actually sit up, but I ignored that in favour of holding my head.

That's when I noticed something weird. I couldn't feel my arms holding my head. There was a feeling that something was on my head, but I couldn't exactly feel it completely.

I held my hands forward and got a good look at them. "... wood?" I couldn't help but ask as I noticed that my hands were completely covered in wood. It wasn't carved or anything, but somehow it was shaped exactly like my hands with the fingers turning to claws halfway through.

Looking over myself, I noticed that the rest of my body was in a similar state. I was covered completely in wood. Feet and toes were in the same state as my arms and fingers.

"What the hell...?" I asked to no one in particular. I noticed then that my voice was hoarse, really hoarse. Like the sound of wind moving through the holes on an old tree.

I slowly got up with the squeaking sound coming back, now I realised its the sound of my joints. Moving was still a little hard, but not impossible. I started looking around for where I was.

I was in the middle of some forest. There were a few trees around me and more in the distance. The ground I was laying on in particular was covered in more and taller grass than the rest of the ground.

Thankfully, there was a pond of water nearby. I started walking slowly towards it. Very slowly. The pain was barely there anymore, but the odd sensation with moving is still there.

When I got the pond, I slowly knelt down and looked at the water. Whatever hope that I was gonna see a human's face was crushed as I finally saw my reflection.

I looked nothing like a human beyond the overall humanoid body. My face and head looked like

something out of some fantasy story. They were entirely made out of wood with two empty slits for eyes. My jaws looked somewhat monstrous with jagged wooden teeth.

(What the hell? I look like freaking Elemantor). I wasn't even joking when I thought of that. I really did look like the wooden version of Elemantor - Max Steel 2013- with the exception of the glowing alien ball on my forehead.

Or in my, you can be reborn as a tree.
