Chapter 06: Doorway
– Felix Dallon (Sugar Rush) –
Looking at the message from Vicky, I frown to myself. I am 99% sure that she has worked out that I'm Sugar Rush. She knows me and Amy too well and must have caught onto something. The picture of Vicky stares up at me smugly, dressed only in some revealing lingerie.
She's trying to make me so uncomfortable that I give up and tell her the truth, no doubt ready to gloat when I give in.
Fuck that. I'm not gonna give her the satisfaction of making me uncomfortable, not when I can double down. She'll be the one to give in when I start flirting back because I don't lose. Not to Vicky, of all people.
100cp gained, 100cp total
[Air Elemental (Large)] - 300cp
It could be useful, but after a moment of consideration I reroll. I really should save up at some point but everything I can get is an extra card up my sleeve. They might not all be aces but they're useful all the same.
[XCOM: Gremlin] - 100cp
An XCOM support drone made to assist Specialists and act as a secondary weapon. It is capable of emitting a healing mist, providing shields to allies, shocking enemies, hacking targets and scanning locations to provide additional information to its operator.
Hey, I won't say no to more help. The drone appears before me, hovering silently as I examine the advanced-looking thing. My mind goes to Snitch, Leet's camera drone, and I smile slightly. I was already planning on studying Snitch and building my own, but now I have a useful drone I can adjust to add the best parts of Snitch while not dealing with Leet's questionable tech.
Dismissing it for now, I send my reply to Vicky and go to bed with a quiet alarm set to wake me later so I can get Amy's help with the heart-shaped herbs. I can't deny I'm both excited and somewhat worried about how it is going to go, but I trust Amy to keep me alive and safe.
– Victoria Dallon –
Staring at her phone in shock, she reread the message from Sugar Rush with a frown. He was Felix; she was sure of it, and he should be ready to admit defeat and admit he was her brother by now.
'Your hips look fine, but I didn't know you had some delicious cake of your own'
Sugar Rush was flirting back, which made her mentally bluescreen as she paused. Was she wrong? Had she been hitting on a stranger? No, it was Felix. She was sure of it, at least 95% sure. She had been 99.9% before he started to flirt with her, but her confidence was shaken slightly.
Shaking her head, her eyes widened in realisation. He knew she knew, but rather than just admit that he was Sugar Rush, Felix was trying to throw her off by flirting back, that sneaky bastard.
A part of her said to drop this plan; sending near-nude pics to her own brother was a weird feeling, but he had seen her wearing less before. But after a moment, she glared at her phone. She wasn't going to back down, not against Felix. This was now a game of Chicken, and she wouldn't be the one to back down.
Moving to her mirror, she took a new picture with a sultry smirk. This wasn't cheating, just a competition. Still, she probably wouldn't be telling Dean about this as she typed a new message to Sugar Rush.
Felix was going to regret doubling down because she was pretty sure that she was more shameless than him.
– Felix Dallon (Sugar Rush) –
…Vicky, what the hell is wrong with you?
'Oh, you like my cake? I don't mind if you can knead my dough next time we meet. I do love your creamy eclairs; maybe we can make a different type of cream lol'
The attached picture has Vicky entirely nude, though facing away from the camera as she smirks over her shoulder, sticking her ass out towards the mirror. I can't see anything due to the tactical camera angles, but it still makes it clear that she isn't going to back down.
"...you two have issues," Amy says, dressed in her pyjamas. "You could just bring her in; she obviously already knows."
"And admit that she won?" I ask, making Amy facepalm as she glances at the picture. "Not a chance."
"So, you're gonna keep flirting with her and hope she backs down? Any plan that relies on Vicky backing down from anything is not going to work," Amy points out, some colour to her cheeks.
"We Dallons are bad at admitting defeat," I admit, making her snort. "I blame Mom."
"I always do," Amy says, looking around the pocket dimension I've pulled her into. "When this goes to hell, remember that I told you so. If Vicky comes to me asking for help dealing with the creampie 'Sugar' gave her, I'm just going to point and laugh."
"Please, it's not going to go that far," I say, waving her off. In front of us, a small garden of purple herbs is waiting for us. "Let's get on with what we're here for. Are you ready?"
"As ready as anyone can be for your nonsense," Amy replies, making me laugh and ruffle her hair as I take one of the herbs. The garden has provided the mortar and pestle so I can grind it up, and I've already dug the hole that I need to be lightly buried in. "God, your power is weird."
"Don't I know it," I reply, giving her a smile as I lay down in the shallow hole. Amy moves the dirt back onto me, and with just my head peeking out, she places the bowl against my lips and tilts it back.
My eyes roll back, darkening as I feel Amy place her hand on my cheek. As my vision brightens again, my eyes widen at the sight of the moonlit savannah I'm standing in.
"You really shouldn't be here," a soft voice says, making my head snap up to one of the trees where a panther is staring down at me.
– Amy Dallon (Panacea) –
Felix's brain activity was going wild, his body twitching and shifting slightly as he went on his vision quest. God, how weird her life had become since he'd informed her of his weird powers.
Not that she was complaining, because she was starting to realise that she loved weird. His body was changing, going from merely in shape to amazing, and her power went wild as she watched the change.
Not that it could distract her from the other revelation of the night. Her very hot brother was flirting with her very sexy sister, both knowing it was the other while pretending that neither knew. God, Vicky was sinfully sexy, her panties damp from Felix showing her the pictures and asking for advice.
Not that he took it because those two idiots were as stubborn as mountains. They'd keep doubling down until something crazy happened, and she felt her mind wander to the image of Glory Girl and Sugar Rush making love, Vicky pretending she didn't know it was Felix. God, she was a pervert.
But then, so were the two idiots who were to blame.
Shaking her head, she focused. Felix was relying on her, which still flattered her a lot, but she found that she wasn't needed. The herb was doing what Felix had said it should, making him superhuman in every way. Not that he wasn't already with his already super-strength.
Now, he'd be super in every way, as far as she could tell. Speed, strength, endurance, agility, reflexes. She wasn't sure if she could recreate the changes herself, but her eyes flickered to the field of herbs.
Felix had offered her one, and while she knew it wouldn't stay secret… she wanted one. She was sick of just being the healer, bored out of her mind of just playing a healer for the simplest injuries that any doctor could fix in time. When Felix spread his heart-shaped cookies out, couldn't she take a break from healing and join the fight properly?
Carol wouldn't like it, but Carol didn't like anything.
Felix gasped, making her jump as his eyes snapped open, glowing purple for just a moment before they faded back to his beautiful blue.
"Did it work?" Amy asked, not sure what he saw.
"Erm, yes, but it might be a bit more complicated than that," Felix admitted, rising to his feet. In just his boxers, she admired his muscular body with hungry eyes before she snapped to focus. "I think I just met a god."
"...fucking what?"
– Felix Dallon (Sugar Rush) – Moments Earlier –
Staring at the panther as it gracefully jumps down to me, I blink.
"I'm not sure what you mean?" I admit, making the panther laugh slightly.
"Or perhaps I shouldn't be here," she corrects, her body shifting as she rises onto two long caramel legs. In her place, an Egyptian-looking woman with two prominent cat ears and a tail watches me with a curious look, prowling around me. She's barely clothed, with a thin Egyptian-styled skirt and two thin straps of material covering her breasts. "This is not my world, and you are certainly not from Wakanda."
"My power gave me the herbs, but I didn't intend to steal you from your world," I say with an apologetic tone. She just laughs.
"You didn't; it's more correct to say you formed a link with me, serving as a door to give me a way into your world," she waves off, a light smirk on her lips. "You're lucky; some Gods might see that as an invitation to move into your Godless world."
I freeze, making her giggle.
"But where are my manners? Bastet, or sometimes Bast, Goddess of Cats, among many other things. It's a pleasure to meet you, Felix," Bastet teases, grinning with a definitely feline look in her glowing blue eyes. "Also, the God of Wakanda, the nation whose secret herb you've helped yourself to."
"As I said, that wasn't my intention, and I meant no harm. My powers don't quite come with an explanation. Did I actually steal them?" I ask, seeing an opportunity for some answers.
"No, I think it is more correct to say you copied them with your powers. No herbs are missing from Wakanda, and the nation doesn't even exist in your world. How strange… but I suppose you have done no harm," Bastet giggles again, running a finger along my chin as she examines me. "You should have met your ancestors, but none of them would have had a clue what was going on, so I decided to intervene."
"So, I can get the powers? I don't know what you know of my world, but I do need the boost," I say, making her nod.
"Admittedly, the Black Panther is usually… Black, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. I will allow you to use the herbs as you please on one condition," Bastet says, making me blink, focusing. "If any Endbringer attacks Africa, you will attend the fight. The Black Panther is the protector of Wakanda, and with no Wakanda, I'm expanding that to the protector of all Africa."
"Africa isn't in a great position, from what little I know," I explain, making her nod.
"Consider me one of your 'Thinkers', one that can see everything happening in Africa; I'm well aware of the many issues my continent faces. In time, you will deal with them all as my champion. Don't worry, you'll be well rewarded for your efforts," Bastet promises, making me pause. "I will take no offence if you refuse, but the Herbs go with me if I leave."
If Bastet takes the herbs, you'll be refunded 300cp.
Ah, no real loss, then.
That's a much bigger challenge than some Cake-cape can handle, but my power has immense potential. In time, I will grow strong enough to do what she asks and I get the feeling she's more patient than me.
"Immortality gives you a certain mindset when it comes to time," Bastet reveals. "Oh, don't look so surprised; your soul is in my realm, and not a single thought is hidden from me. And yes, I do have very nice legs."
I blush slightly at her teasing but focus again. The main issue is the Endbringers; they could attack when I'm not ready, but I was already planning on attending as Sugar Rush and empowering the defenders. Africa is a little further than I was expecting. Can I even get there?
"You can; if no one else can transport you, I'll do it myself," Bastet confirms, making me nod. So, do what I already planned to do, but just a bit further from home?
"Will I be able to let those I trust use the herbs?" I ask, making her nod easily.
"I said they are yours to do with as you please. Your desire to protect your sister is admirable," Bastet agrees.
"Then you have your champion," I agree, making her smile widely.
"One last warning, cutie. I'm one of the nice gods, but your power opens up a door when you get things connected to the gods. Some of those Gods might be less polite about things than me," Bastet warns, and I nod in agreement. Trust me, the thought has already crossed my mind. Bastet dashes forward, closing the distance as she places a light kiss on my lips, giggling as my mind is banished from her realm.
I sit up with a gasp, my body feeling very light as Amy gives me an alarmed look.
"Did it work?" Amy asks, giving me a concerned look.
"Erm, yes, but it might be a bit more complicated than that," I admit, rising to my feet as I shake the dirt off. "I think I just met a god."
Feat Achieved: Become Bastet's Champion (300cp granted, 300cp total)
300?! Does Bastet want anything else? A foot rub? Shoulder massage?
Careful, cutie, I just might take you up on that.
Ah, she can hear me. Yeah, that makes sense.
Not normally, but you did call me by thinking of me. I'm still looking over Africa; this world is truly a mess.
Fair enough.
[Hera's Golden Apples] - 1000cp
Many types of Golden Apples exist in the world of Hercules the Legendary Journey. These particular ones are from a tree owned by Hera, Queen of the Greek Gods. A person given a single bite of this apple can be cured of any disease, illness, or poison. A single bite can even restore a dead person to life. If a person were to eat an entire apple, they can obtain a form of immortality where they'd have eternal youth and greatly accelerated healing.
Oh damn, a tree of immortality fruits?
One, they're way too expensive for me at the moment… and more importantly, I just learnt that my powers could give the Gods a way into this world, and I don't feel like offering a door to the entire Greek Pantheon through a Goddess known best for being really pissy about her husband's inability to keep it in his pants (entirely fair, but still).
I think I should reroll and hope for something less worrying.
[Warhammer 40k: Tyranid Carnifex] - 300cp (0cp remaining)
The Carnifex is a monstrous creature that essentially acts as an organic main battle tank for the Tyranid hive fleets. It is armed with the most advanced Tyranid Bio-Weapons and is used primarily as a shock trooper to carry out starship boarding actions, frontal shock assaults on entrenched positions and for besieging fortified locations or enemy armour formations.
I scream, but God doesn't answer.
Oh, wait, that's Amy screaming as the towering abomination appears in front of us.
"Felix, what the fuck," Amy says, gasping as the Carnifex looks at her curiously. I know it's wondering whether she's biomass, to be consumed, but it knows she is an ally and reluctantly backs down.
The heavily-armoured creature looks at me, standing at well over twenty fucking feet tall, covered in thick dark-blue chitinous armour that protects its admittedly still very tough red flesh. Four arms, each equipped with deadly scythe-like talons. I'm trying to look for a part of it that doesn't look like it could kill me in a dozen fun and exciting ways, but I'm coming up blank.
I'm glad my pocket dimension doesn't have a ceiling, because this fucker might be hitting thirty feet tall.
"A Tyranid Carnifex, basically a living tank. I don't suppose you're willing to make sure it doesn't carry anything contagious? It won't hurt you," I promise, making her take a deep breath and give me a less-than-amused look.
"...I want you to know that I hate you, and if this thing eats me, I'm coming back to haunt you," Amy swears, making me smile.
"Love you, and thanks," I say, making her roll her eyes as she inches towards the gigantic predator.
Placing a hand on its body, she gasps, and I immediately go into combat-ready mode, even if I'm not sure what the fuck I could do against this thing. And yet, Amy's eyes widen as she places another hand on its body, her body almost shuddering as she examines it.
The Carnifex just looks at her impassively, aware that she's part of the 'hive' and not biomass to be consumed.
"It's… amazing," Amy whispers, making me blink at the wonder in her voice. "I've never seen something so biologically perfect."
"Is it safe?" I ask, watching her blink and turn to me slowly. Then she looks back at the colossal death machine, then back to me with a raised eyebrow. "You know what I mean."
"It can't reproduce and isn't carrying some alien cancer that's going to wipe out humanity. That's as much as I can promise," Amy says, her hand still on my new summon. "It's fascinating and very clearly not from our world. I thought your suicidal bat was strange, but this is on a whole other level. Did you know this thing can produce a biological plasma in its body to spit at people?"
"No, no I don't. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with this," I admit, making her snort.
"Feed Lung to it, set it on an Endbringer. Maybe have it go and traumatise the Merchants. I'm pretty sure it could take Hookwolf in a fight, and he does love making animals fight, right?" Amy adds maliciously, making me snort at the idea of Hookwolf's face if this showed up at his dog fighting ring. "Worst case, find where the Nine are and send it their way; it could probably take a few of them down before it dies."
"I'd just be able to summon it back a day later," I admit, making her laugh.
"Oh yeah, because the giant biological tank needed effective immortality as well, for good measure," Amy scoffs. "Your power is a special kind of bullshit. Now, don't think I've forgotten that God comment. Explain, or I'll give you erectile dysfunction."
I oblige, noticing how Amy really doesn't want to let go of my new summon, her eyes widening at my explanation.
"So, you're the new defender of Africa? Well, I know where you could send your new pet. I've heard about what some of those Warlords are doing, and if anyone deserves a Carnifex surprise, it's them," Amy points out, and I'm starting to think she's the devil on my shoulder, not my angelic moral compass.
"Do you want a Herb?" I ask, making her hesitate before she nods.
"I expect things are going to get stupid, so yes, I do. People will notice I'm stronger, but I'd rather be alive to deal with the mess than die because I was stubborn," Amy agrees, picking one of the herbs. She gasps again, clearly examining the herb's biology. "Let's get this over with, time to go say hi to a Goddess. Man, my life made so much more sense a week ago."
"Are you complaining?" I ask, making her snort.
"My siblings are playing incestuous chicken, my brother just summoned a biological weapon of mass destruction and keeps pulling weird shit out of his ass, and now I'm gonna go meet an Egyptian Goddess so I can get buff," Amy drawls. "Of course, I'm not complaining; this is the most interesting thing that's happened since I've triggered."
Amy hesitates for a moment before she follows my example and strips down to just her underwear as she lays down in the hole I came from. Maybe it's thanks to Vicky's texts, but my eyes linger on her breasts and thighs for a moment; she's actually curvier than Vicky, which surprises me. I guess she normally wears baggy clothes, but she has impressive large breasts, and her thighs look amazingly soft.
"Are you gonna bury me, or are you just planning on ogling me?" Amy asks, making me jump. Despite her words, she doesn't seem unhappy as she gives me a slight smirk.
"Yeah, yeah," I say, embarrassed to have gotten caught as I oblige. She just laughs, even as she gulps and looks at the mortar of ground-up herb. Placing it against her lips, she consumes the herb, and unlike her, I can't do anything to monitor her as she closes her eyes.
I can see some minor movement, but I'm left pacing as I wait for her to wake up. Her eyes snap open after what seems like ages, sitting up with a gasp. Rising to her feet, she shakes some of the dirt off (which does interesting things to her body, lots of jiggling forcing me to look away) and admires herself.
Her formerly soft stomach has some clearly defined abs, her thighs becoming more toned, and her arms are slightly muscular. It isn't obscene; she doesn't look like a bodybuilder, just someone who stays in good shape.
She flexes a few times, throwing some punches at incredible speeds before she laughs.
"I could get used to this," Amy admits, an excited grin on her face. "I'm coming with you to the Endbringer fights. Mom doesn't normally let me go to the ones too far away, but I told Bastet I would."
I go to speak before I snort.
"We're a little past asking Mom for permission, huh?" I ask, making her nod with a dark smirk.
"You have your charity gig tomorrow, right?" Amy asks, making me nod in agreement. I've set up the time and place with the PRT, and I spent some time making a lot of samples and new fun treats. "You need to learn how to handle your new strength before anything happens, and I need to do the same. So, let's spar."
"Right now?" I ask, making her nod.
"We don't need sleep; you can use your energy eclairs. As long as we're both back in bed before anyone comes looking, we're fine. So, let's do it. I can feel the changes to your body, and I feel amazing, but we need to see them in action. It's not like we're trying to hurt each other, and we're both healers," Amy explains, and I can't deny she's right about that.
That's not my issue. Amy wants to spar while we are both dressed in only our underwear. Lots of contact, bouncing and wardrobe malfunctions just waiting to happen…
