Finding you in the crowd

Chapter 13: Staying Connected Through Distance

After Manish shifted to Ranchi for his internship, things didn't stay the same for him and Deepika.

They still talked, but not as often. Life was busy for both. Manish was working hard, learning new things, trying to adjust in a new city. Deepika was continuing her beauty course and managing everything at home too.

Slowly, their conversations became shorter.

Sometimes, there were small fights — arguments on calls, hurt feelings over late replies, or missed calls.

"Why didn't you text back?"

"I was waiting for you."

"You've changed."

But deep inside, both of them still loved each other deeply.

Even when they were upset, they couldn't stay angry for long.

Their love was going through a tough phase, but it was still strong.

Three Months Passed — A Big Decision

By November, it had been three to four months since Manish had moved away.

One day, while sitting alone in his room, Manish felt something in his heart — a quiet pull.

He had finished his internship. Ranchi had given him experience, but something was missing.

He missed Deepika. He missed his town. He missed the life that felt real.

That evening, he called Deepika and said,

"I'm thinking of coming back."

She didn't say much, but her silence was full of happiness.

And a few days later, Manish returned.

The First Meeting After Months

When Manish came back to town, Deepika couldn't wait to see him.

They met near the place where they used to go during school — near the quiet street corner by the old tea shop.

They saw each other after months.

No big words. No dramatic moments.

Just a warm smile. Just silence filled with love.

They sat down, side by side, like old times.

They talked, they laughed a little, and most of all — they felt peace. Because they were finally back in the same place again.

Manish's Surprise — A Tattoo of Love

A few days after returning, Manish did something special.

He went to a tattoo shop and got Deepika's name written on his hand.

When he showed it to her, she couldn't believe it.

"You really did this?" she asked softly.

Manish smiled and said,

"It's not just a tattoo. It's my way of saying… you are a part of me."

Deepika looked at the tattoo for a long moment. She gently touched his hand.

She didn't need gifts or big promises.

This simple act, from the heart, said everything.

Deepika's Gift — A Birthday Full of Love

Manish's birthday was coming soon.

Deepika wanted to make it special — not with money, but with love.

She planned everything quietly. She bought a small cake, cooked his favorite food, and decorated a small room with candles, balloons, and some of their old photos.

She didn't tell him anything.

The night before his birthday, she called and said, "Can you come over for a little while?"

When Manish entered and saw everything, he was completely surprised.

"You did all this?" he asked, smiling wide.

Deepika nodded, a little shy. "It's your birthday. And you came back. This means a lot to me."

They celebrated together — laughed, took photos, shared stories, and talked about how far they had come.

It was simple.

It was beautiful.

It was filled with love.

Because real love doesn't always need big things.

Sometimes, love is in:

• Waiting through the distance,

• Returning when it's time,

• A small tattoo,

• A homemade cake,

• A quiet hug after a long time.

That's what Deepika and Manish had — something real, something strong, something that kept going even when life tried to pull them apart.

They didn't know what the future held, but one thing was clear:

They were together again.

And that was enough.
