First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 863: A Bit Different…

Abaddon and Erica were like fire and more fire.

They argued the most because they were the most alike. But it was difficult to determine whether they were arguing because they enjoyed the banter or just because they enjoyed frustrating each other.

Likely the latter.

But their passion for each other was unmistakably greater than any single force on earth.

Because Abaddon had rejected Erica's advances at first, she took extra care to seduce and thrill him every day. Almost as if to say, 'Can you believe that you almost denied yourself all of this?'

Abaddon knew Erica like the back of his hand. She behaved exactly as he would in most situations.

Because of that, he could say with 100% certainty that she was going to kill him when this was over.

The air was increasingly hot as the pair of lovers continued to work to trace the scriptures in the sand with a tool that was failing them.

Erica's joining had helped to speed up the process and removed some of the burden on his shoulders- leaving them now with around four characters left.

But with every line of runescript drawn, the toot they were using was splintering even further. Abaddon and Erica could do little more to hamper its destruction.

"It's not going to make it, We have to switch to something!" Erica yelled over the raging heat beneath them.

"We cannot stop, or our home will collapse in on itself!" Abaddon yelled back- currently more bone than dragon. "We have to finish this quickly!"

Erica gritted her teeth and began moving at a faster pace in tune with her husband.

In the brief time that she had been working on this little project of theirs, her body had become mangled enough to mirror his own now.

Possibly every nerve ending she had was alight with pain and agony, leaving her to wonder just how and why her thick-headed husband had insisted on doing everything himself so far.

...She was definitely going to kill him later!

*Rumble!*

The very air filling the cavern had begun to crackle with a raw, intense power that was worse than anything displayed so far.

All runes that had already been drawn were starting to shimmer with an illustrious gold light. More radiant than the stairs to heaven. More powerful than anything Abaddon had ever come across in his entire life.

Unfortunately, the new level of power being released was too much for Abaddon's tooth.

Before either of them could stop it, the enamel groaned before it exploded into a sharp hail of shards.

Abaddon and Erica were both subjected to debris from the blast.

"No!"

Realizing he couldn't stop, Abaddon immediately went to drastic measures.

His right forearm had come off in the explosion.

As a last ditch effort, he reached for the charred bone still hanging onto his shoulder by a tiny thread of sinew.

He ripped it free and immediately went back to drawing in under a second.

Erica, though injured, helped him when his strength started to fail him on the final character.

As she drew the final line to complete the symbol, a burst of cool, powerful magic erupted from the wellspring before them.

Both dragons were flung from their positions and launched at least twenty feet in the air without even realizing what was happening.

With one arm, Abaddon grabbed Erica out of the air and held her body against his own as they hit the dirt. The brunt of the fall was taken solely by his back, leaving her in a more comfortable position.

As the two of them lay there, they breathed heavily on top of each other for what felt like an eternity.

Their bodies were so badly damaged that there were places where their organs were spilling into one another.

Erica lifted her head from atop Abaddon's burned-in chest.

She gazed at his face affectionately, even with the skin on half of hers missing.

His hair had been burned worse than she had ever seen before. His horns were cracked, and his eyes were bleeding.

While writing, the right side of his body was mostly protected by the tooth.

That was probably why that part of him was all that was really still there.

"I suppose I won't be winning any more of those beauty contests anytime soon, will I?" He laughed dryly.

Erica had no idea what she was supposed to say back to that. Laugh? Cry? Curse him?

Her brain wasn't fully intact, so thinking was hard for her right now.

Instead, she kissed the burnt side of his face and the unburnt one. Her actions surprised them both.

"...Can you stand?"

Abaddon nodded slowly.

Together, the two of them got to their feet while supporting each other.

Abaddon wrapped his arm around her as they finally turned to stare at their handywork.

Eighty-eight bright blue runes were situated comfortably within their nest.

Where before they were producing a smoldering heat and great destructive power, they now seemed much more 'mellow'.

However, just taking one look at them was more than enough of a reminder that they were a power greater than divinity.

"Looking at them makes my eyes hurt." Erica winced.

Abaddon gently cupped the nape of her neck and took her head into his chest.

"...Don't think this'll get you off the hook with anything." She grumbled.

Abaddon would have smiled if he hadn't been positive he would look horrific.

"...I think you should let me take this memory from you." He suddenly said.

Erica looked up at him with immense suspicion. "You are really stepping in it today, aren't you?"

This time, Abaddon did crack a small smile. "It's not because I'm not grateful; I just don't want you to hold the memory of what they look like."

"And why is that?"

"Because of Sif. There is a chance for her to see the memory in your mind, is there not?"

"Well, yes, but why would that be a problem?"

"She is unnamed." Abaddon sighed. "I worry about her suffering adverse effects if she sees them on accident even one single time."

Erica would have protested harder against it if she didn't see this as a plausibility.

The girls are known to pop into each other's minds from time to time for any variety of reasons. Tatiana and Lisa see the most visitors because they have all the recipes.

Bekka likes raiding the girls' minds for memories of them before they hit puberty.

"You really think she could get hurt...?" Erica asked with an edge of worry in her voice.

"I would rather not take the chance when I do not know for certain," Abaddon said honestly.

They seemed to be in agreement then because Erica didn't want to run that risk either.

She closed her eyes and tilted her forehead towards her husband.

He placed all five of his fingers on the crown of her head and removed a small, wispy piece of memory.

As he took the memory, he heard the sound of movement coming from above that made his charred blood run cold.

"Guys? Are you alright down there..?" Izanami's head had started to peek over the rim of the dried-out lake.

Abaddon and Erica moved instantly to the top of the riverbed and placed their hands on each of her shoulders.

They turned the poor woman around so quickly that she very nearly gave her whiplash.

Even though they didn't mean to, they coincidentally ended up pulling her body into theirs.

"Easy now, be careful."

"I thought I told you to stay put. You could have really hurt yourself just now."

Izanami was barely aware of the fact that she was being chastised because of the two heavily injured dragons in front of her.

"Y-You're hurt!"

Abaddon and Erica looked down at themselves.

"Ah... guess these ones are no good, huh?"

"Fraid' not."

*Sigh...*

Abaddon and Erica's bodies dropped to the ground lifelessly before her.

While they decomposed rapidly, two more pristine and perfect bodies were created in their place. One made from flame, the other from what seemed like nothingness.

"Ah... right." Izanami was one of the few primordial deities who actually had a body. Meaning if she got hurt, she couldn't just make a new one out of thin air and put her essence in that.

She had never been more envious of that power before now.

But she quickly realized that there were greater things to focus on.

Izanami is a relatively short goddess, standing at only 5'7.

Abaddon and Erica are both over eight feet tall- close to nine.

They had also, by pure coincidence, chosen to get naked before they started inscribing runes so as not to destroy their clothes.

Izanami was currently eye-level with both of their genitals.

Abaddon only realized this when he saw her usual deathly pale face become beet red.

"Shit, Sorry!" He backed away while covering himself.

"N-No, don't!- I mean, you're fine... I-It's not as if it's my first time seeing... that."

It might as well have been, though. Izanami was just now learning that not everything within her dreamworld was exactly as it was in real life.

She was not sure if that made her feel better or worse about the whole situation.

Abaddon looked around for his clothes but couldn't find them.

He was unaware that Erica had moved them out of sight behind a rock because she found this situation amusing.

She was also still standing directly in front of Izanami without moving an inch. Her heated gaze felt a little bit too enjoyable against her skin.

"So... shall we do lunch?"
