Fishman in One Piece

Chapter 21: Chapter 20

Chapter 20 Shyarly and the Prophecy

Coral Hill, situated in the southeastern region of Fishman Island, hosts numerous shops and ranks among the most wealthiest location in the nation.

Approximately a year ago, a new café opened in Coral Hill, quickly gaining fame and establishing itself as a notable landmark throughout Fish-Man Island.

The explanation is rather straightforward. This establishment, named Mermaid Cafe, lives up to its designation, as the staff consists of youthful and attractive mermaid women. This aspect alone has contributed significantly to the café's unusual popularity.

When Brett stepped outside the café, it was quite late. Although the café's doors were closed, light still emanated from the windows, indicating the presence of patrons inside.

He raised his hand and tapped on the café's door.

Shortly, a familiar voice responded from within, "Our shop is closed; please return tomorrow. "

Brett felt his troubled feelings ease. He smiled and replied, "Charlie, it's me."

Silence followed behind the door, and then the voice inside responded, "Apologies, but I do not recognize anyone named 'Me'. If you do not leave, I will summon the guards. "

Brett's eyes twitched. "It's me, Brett; I'm back, Shyarly "

"Guest, if you continue to bother me, I will call the guards. The Brett I know is an arrogant and conceited person who ignore others' advice."

Did it really have to go this far?

Brett felt somewhat helpless. Was the separation of four years still affecting her?

"Yes, but now the big jerk is back, so, Miss Shyarly, would you kindly open the door? "

Finally, after another interval of silence, the door to the café opened with a creak.

The beautiful girl assessed Brett from head to toe. She possessed pale skin, short black hair, a delicate face with an icy allure, and a dark blue fish tail extending from her slender waist.

Her name is Shyarly, she is Brett's childhood sweetheart.

She is the younger sister of Arlong, which is how she and Brett became childhood friends.

"I thought you had died outside. "

Shyarly's tone carried a sting.

She floated mid-air.

It is not that she possesses the ability to fly; rather, it is because mermaids find land movement less convenient compared to fishmen.

They typically navigate by employing a bubble on their bodies that levitates into the air.

Currently, she wore a bubble swimming ring around her waist.

"Almost, but I was lucky," Brett responded with a smile.

The encounter with Kizaru and the prison break in Punk Hazard could only be characterized as exhilarating.

"Humph. "

Shyarly let out a soft snort, though her sharp gaze softened slightly as she turned and glided back into the café.

Brett followed her inside and closed the door.

The furnishings in the café, including the tables and chairs, have been organized and arranged neatly. The area is relatively compact and does not appear congested. Enhanced by some exquisite decorations, the space presents an elegant first impression.

"That is wonderful. "

Brett took a seat after pulling out a chair and began to observe his surroundings.

Shyarly approached the counter and promptly set a cup of steaming coffee before Brett.

"So, Brett," she positioned herself opposite him, lightly tapping the table with her slender right index finger, "What are your thoughts on embarking on a maritime adventure without a care in the world, only to find yourself imprisonment? "

Brett lifted the coffee cup and took a sip. Its flavor was smooth and aromatic, proving to be enjoyable.

Setting down his cup, he clarified, "It's not a prison; it was a marine research facility. "

Shyarly rolled her eyes.

It was evident that she was not as aloof as she initially appeared.

"Regarding that trip," Brett exhaled, "I lost much, yet I also gained a lot. "

"Shyarly." He met her gaze, "Would you like to hear about my four year journey?"

The girl leaned in, resting her right elbow on the table while supporting her chin with her hand, "The night is still long. "

Thus, Brett recounted to Shyarly the events of how he went to sea with Brother Tiger and others four years prior, despite her disapproval.

He shared their maritime escapades, the breathtaking sights they encountered, and the people they met.

From their initial departure to meeting a girl named Koala, to Tiger's demise, followed by Brett's capture and subsequent transfer to Punk Hazard, and then the prison break involving the deal with VegaPunk.

All the moments of joy and sorrow were experienced with the girl seated across from him.

By the time he concluded his story, it was late into the night.

Brett yawned and then turned to see Shyarly's eyes twinkling.

"Shyarly. . . "

"Idiot! I had warned you previously; the human world is very dangerous. " Shyarly casually wiped her eyes. 'Has this idiot endured so much hardship?'

Brett smiled and said, "Consequently, I will not be leaving anytime soon. Boss Shyarly hope you have a job for me?"

"As it happens, the kitchen is still lacking a dishwasher. You should be capable of managing that. " A smile graced Shyarly's face.

When the girl, who typically wore a cold expression, offered a smile, it became even more heartwarming.

Brett could not help but grin, replying, "That seems like quite a lot. I had envisioned enjoying complimentary food and lodging, but perhaps that is not to be."

He then shifted his tone to a serious note, "Let us discuss about Brother Arlong. "

". . . "

Upon mentioning her half-brother, she paused for a moment in silence. She had lived with Arlong since she was three years old. "Were you aware? That fool intends to establish a pirate crew to exact revenge on humans. "

Brett nodded, "Brother Jinbei wishes for him to abandon this notion, yet -"

"Words can no longer influence him," came Shyarly's cold response.

"You have the option to employ more severe actions, Brett," Shyarly suggested.

Brett raised an eyebrow. 'Is this conduct typical for a sister?'

"If Arlong is permitted to act freely, numerous innocent humans will die because of his actions," She asserted. "Although the lives of humans are not our concern, he will inevitably face repercussions. "

If such a statement had been made by anyone else, Brett would have felt some surprise, as it aligns with Aaron's fate in the original story.

However, Shyarly is not just anyone.

"Is that a prophecy? " Brett asked curiously.

Shyarly is renowned as a seer on Fish-Man Island, her predictions consistently proving to be correct.

Fifteen years prior, when she was merely three years old, she had already foretold the fish-man princess's birth to the Pirate King.

At that time, Brett, who was just two years old, had been fortunate enough to witness that moment.

"There is no need for prophecy in this instance. One can deduce it. That fool Arlong has become more extreme than before," Shyarly stated decisively. "What benefit will he gain from venturing into the human world? When the truth comes to light, what favorable resolution can he expect from humans? "

"Go,Brett. You are doing this for his benefit. Ultimately, he is my brother, and I wish to prevent him from facing death."

Brett replied with a chuckle.

"I will intervene then," He acknowledged.

Then Brett paused momentarily before adding, "There is one more question, Shyarly; I am feeling a bit uncertaint."

"I understand," Shyarly replied with a nod, "It has been a considerable time since I performed divination here. "

"Divination? " Brett expressed mild surprise, then nodded, "Very well. "

Shyarly levitated slightly, retrieved her divination crystal ball from behind the counter, and placed it upon the table.

She inhaled deeply and cupped her hands around the crystal ball.

Her eyes took on a slightly vacant expression.

Brett realized she had entered a state of divination.

Although nothing was visible within the crystal ball, she must have perceived the future.

Brett observed, noting a smile emerging on Shyarly's face.

'Had she glimpsed at an interesting future?'

Brett speculated.

Shyarly's eyes sparkled with life again as she settled back into her chair, her bright gaze directed firmly onto Brett's eyes.

"There is no need for you to remain entangled and uncertain. Simply pursue what you desire, Brett. I foresee a bright future," she emphasized, "A bright future realized through your actions. "

Brett was momentarily taken aback, and then a grin started to spread across his face, "Is that so? "

Shyarly's foresight cannot pinpoint an exact time, yet the future she envisions is certain to materialize.

She remarked that a positive future will inevitably lead to a favorable outcome.

Though the vision that Shyarly perceived was merely a fragment, and a brighter future is foretold, the specifics of what follows remain ambiguous.

However, it at least indicates that my actions will yield beneficial results

In this context, there is genuinely no cause for concern.

As she mentioned, pursue what I desire without hesitation.

What do I wish to accomplish?

Perhaps it is merely to become stronger.

If he can attain the power of a Pirate Emperor, all challenges will become trivial.

Virtually no one will be able to jeopardize his safety, and Fish-Man Island will be safeguarded. Even the navy responsible for Brother Tiger's death would pose no difficulty when seeking retribution.

For me, at this moment, achieving that level of strength is not challenging.

Brett holds a strong sense of confidence.

As long as he surpasses everyone else in strength, even if the future takes a negative turn, he will possess the capability to alter everything.

Brett now knew his purpose.

From this point forward, he will endeavor to gain strength.

Merely ensuring survival is no longer sufficient; he must strive to be the strongest.

Regarding the remaining aspects, he will adapt as necessary, as he currently lacks a clear plan.

"It appears you have nothing to fear," said Shyarly, rising slightly and yawning. "It's quite late. Let us rest here tonight. There is an unoccupied guest room upstairs. "

"Um."

Brett nodded.

He did not display any significant reaction.

Accompanying Shyarly to the second floor of the café, she opened the door to the guest room, "It is fully equipped, and the staff occasionally rests here. "

She turned to face Brett, "Please refrain from any inappropriate actions. "

Brett rolled his eyes, "Who would do that? "

"Hmph. "

The girl softly hummed as she drifted to the other end of the hallway, heading to her bedroom.

As she grasped the door handle to her room, she heard Brett's voice from behind, "In any case, I'm back, Shyarly. "

She paused and turned around. Under the corridor's illumination, Brett could distinctly see the warm smile gracing the girl's face.

"Welcome back, Brett. "
