Chapter 256: Confronting Tina's Parents
Blaze had just arrived at the hospital when he first received the call from the mansion butler informing him of Rowland Stevens's visit.
After checking on his aunt and his father-in-law, he was about to take his wife out for a late lunch when he was alerted of Rowland's intended visit to the hospital.
This completely ruined his mood, making it turned viciously cold and dangerous.
"Blaze, what's wrong." Amelia inquired, observing the sudden change in his countenance as they both exited the hospital building, heading for his car.
"It's Tina's parents." Blaze exhaled slowly, trying to calm his caustic temper.
"Tina's parents." Amelia raised a brow in confusion, the name Tina leaving a sour taste in her mouth. "What about them."
"They're currently on their way to this place as we speak."
"What?!" Amelia halted, her eyes narrowing and her nose flaring. "What do they want?"
"Let's talk inside the car, sweetheart." Blaze gestured forward, pointing to his Bentley, not wanting to create a scene outside the hospital.
Amelia nodded and followed his lead into the car, her heart pounding with rage at the thought of another confrontation.
"So what do they want?" Amelia now seat comfortably inside the car, spoke calmly, staring into Blaze's somewhat cold but subtle eyes
"Based on what the butler told me about thirty to forty minutes ago when they visited the mansion, it...."
Amelia didn't let Blaze complete his sentence when she interrupted him, her eyes glimmering with shock.
"Wait a second, they've already been to the mansion?"
"Yes."
"When?" Amelia's pounding heart tripped.
"About thirty to forty minutes ago? The butler said they were there to see mom?"
"Seriously!" Amelia couldn't believe her ears, anger slowly poisoning her veins.
"Are those people out of their minds? What makes them think they have the right to visit mom's house after what their useless daughter did? Are they trying to get on our nerves?"
"Don't stress yourself about that, sweetheart. I'll take care of them." Blaze parted Amelia on the arm, sensing her rising anger.
"Why did they even go to the mansion in the first place to see Mom? Didn't Tina tell them what she did?" Amelia didn't relent in her questions.
"I don't think she did until a few minutes ago. But that shouldn't bother us. I'll have the hospital management throw them out once they arrive. Let's just go for lunch." Blaze's tone was dismissive as he brought up his phone, ready to dial a number.
"Wait..." Amelia put her hand on top of his, her heart beating fast. "Are you saying they didn't know that mom was in the hospital until recently?"
"I think so, but none of that matters. The fact that Tina meddled in other people's affairs leading to so many unfortunate incidents is enough to have her and anyone associated with her suffer the consequence of her actions."
Amelia suddenly fell silent, her conscience pricking her.
This wasn't her. She wasn't the type of person to watch both the innocent and the guilty suffer together. She would always give people a choice to do what was right.
"Don't you think we should hear them out first before we decide on anything?"
"Sweetheart, don't let Tina and her family issues bother you. She has created enough chaos in our lives as it is. If she hadn't interfered in our lives, mom probably would not be in a coma and your father wouldn't be in the hospital." Blaze tried to reason with his wife calmly.
"We can't hold Tina completely liable for our mess." Amelia pointed out with a deep sigh. "I wasn't completely honest with you and you couldn't control your temper. We are both liable for our parents' condition as well as Tina. Nevertheless, it won't be fair if we do not give her parents a listening ear. I'm not saying we should let them see mom. Let's just hear what they have to say and if it doesn't sound nice we could decide on what to do afterwards."
Amelia watched her husband closely seeing the reluctance in his body language before adding.
"Please, do this for me." She leaned closer and gave him a peck on the cheek brightening his dull mood.
"Fine, if you insist. But if they say anything offensive, I won't hesitate to throw them out and have them dealt with."
"That's okay by me." Amelia stroked Blaze's arm smiling.
Just then Blaze received a call from one of the security personnel stationed at the hospital Informing him that the Stevens had just arrived.
"Tell them to meet me at the Woodlands private bar and restaurant," Blaze instructed before ending the call.
Thirty minutes later, Blaze and Amelia arrived at the Woodland restaurant, holding hands like young couples on a date.
They were led to the exclusive private lounge area of the restaurant, meant for only the chairman and owner of the restaurant, who also happened to be Blaze.
As they stepped foot into the lounge, Amelia was completely blown away by the opulence all around her. It reminded her of the villa, almost as if she was home.
Blaze observed her quietly, a smile spreading across his face as he watched her scrutinized her surroundings.
The interior decoration of the lounge exuded timeless sophistication suitable for a memorable dining experience for two.
The refreshing blend of wine mixed with a cool lavender scent and freshly prepared delicacy whiffed through the air, creating a tranquil atmosphere for dining and relaxation.
From the ambient lighting illuminating the luxurious areas of the lounge, to the captivating artistic wall painting, living guest completely mesmerized, the lounge was nothing short of a mini heaven.
"This place is beautiful." Amelia complemented turning around to face her husband, the brilliant LED light casting a warm glow on her flawless skin.
"I'm glad you like it. It used to be our outdoor family dining location when my dad was still alive. I haven't been here in a while."
"Really! Your family owns this restaurant?" Amelia's eyes glimmered with excitement.
Blaze slowly approached her, his heart pounding with a deep longing to hold her in his arms.
"Not just my family anymore." Blaze tenderly stroked her cheeks, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "It's our family now. We own it together."
Amelia's cheek flushed at Blaze's statement. She was impressed to hear him acknowledge her as part of the family.
But when he leaned closer to kiss her, she turned her cheeks away.
"Let's sit down. Our guest will soon arrive." Amelia moved over to the six-seater rectangular dining table in the lounge instead of the plush leather sofa meant for relaxation.
"Of course," Blaze hurried over to her side and pulled out a seat for her like a gentleman.
Just then the manager of the restaurant came in, beaming politely.
"Good day, Mr and Mrs Anderson. Is such a pleasure to have you here today. What would you like to start with? We have ..."
"We will place an order after our meeting." Blaze cut the manager off impatiently. "In the meantime, get my wife a bottle of non-alcoholic grape wine. I'll have a bottle of scotch. When the Stevens arrive, have them sent up."
"Yes sir." The manager bowed politely and excused them.
Five minutes later, the Stevens were ushered into the lounge by the manager.
Immediately they stepped foot in the lounge, the air in the room suddenly turned cold as if the temperature had dropped to minus two degrees.
Blaze's initial smile turned caustic and his aura turned chilly. A vicious scowl framed his handsome face as if he would make Tina's family vaporize in the blink of an eye.
Rowland and the rest of the family temporarily froze by the door.
However, when Blaze cleared his throat impatiently, they slowly advanced.
Rowland could hardly believe that someone he once prided on as his future son-in-law had transformed overnight into their enemy thanks to his foolish daughter.
Although Amelia was displeased to see them, she almost felt sorry for them.
They were all looking completely drained as if they hadn't slept the entire night.
Surely such magnitude of disgrace would keep any family sleep-deprived.
"Mr and Mrs Anderson, thank you very much for agreeing to meet with us under the current circumstances. Let me start by apologizing on behalf of myself and my entire family for the trouble we might have put you and your pretty wife through."
Blaze scoffed at Rowland's attempt to win Amelia's affection over with flattery words.
"Why don't you all sit?" Amelia offered, seeing that her husband wasn't bothered if their guest remained standing all through the duration of the meeting.
"Thank you very much, my dear. You are indeed very kind." Eunice smiled feverishly, as she took her seat close to her husband while averting Blaze's cold and sharp gaze.
"I just got to know from my daughter a few minutes ago that your mother is currently admitted in the hospital." Rowland started treading carefully observing as Blaze's expression darkened.
"Words are not enough to express how sorry I am for going down to your mother's house without first asking questions. I know it's not in my place to ask about her health. But I'm very positive she will be alright."
"Save me the hypocritical bullshit and go straight to the point. Why are you here?" Blaze boomed between clenched jaws, causing Eunice to flinch.
