Chapter 327: Bond To A Devil
"I think we are being monitored." Regina said."
"I had that strange feeling, too." Pearl lifted her eyes up to scan their surrounding for any suspicious-looking objects.
Six months in prison have taught her to never trust her environment, especially when all her actions were being monitored.
"Do you think this room is also bugged?" Pearl whispered.
"I won't be surprised." Regina felt a cold shiver run down her spine.
"Let's go into the bathroom. I don't think they will want to spy on naked women." Pearl suggested.
"Smart girl." They both left for the bathroom while sparing a glance at the neatly folded change of clothes on the bed.
After closing the door to the bathroom. Regina and Pearl sat on the bathtub edge to rub minds together.
"I have a feeling that what happened outside this room must have been captured by someone spying on us before they sent those two watchdogs." Regina's voice was laced with a blend of anxiety and fear.
"This is not good." Pearl shook her head while biting on her dirty nails. "And that old maggot can use his bruised wrist against me."
"You should have been more careful?" Regina rebuked her sister.
"Don't play me. I was mad." Pearl hissed.
Regina released a frustrated sign. She thought briefly before speaking up more confidently.
"We could always turn the story in our favour. After all, he's just a mere servant in this mansion. Who would believe a servant over the house owners?"
"Yeah." Pearl smiled, but it faded after a few seconds of reflection. "I'm sure this is all Amelia's doing."
"What do you expect from that little witch?" Regina hissed like a snake. "Gwen did say Nana has been supporting Amelia of late."
"Isn't it obvious from the way she attacked us when we first arrived, ridiculing us in the presence of everyone?" Pearl scoffed.
"Her days are numbered. This time around, there will be no more mistakes." Regina swore.
"Yes."
"But first, I will deal with that old maggot who already feels like a king in my own house."
"And I know the perfect plan to set him up," Pearl said, rubbing her palms together in excitement. "This time around, I'll make sure he is maimed and sent to jail."
"I believe in you." Both sisters embraced each other smiling.
"By the way, where the hell is Gwen?" Regina pulled away from her sister. "I didn't see her with the others outside."
"That's really strange considering how excited she was on the phone to meet with us," Pearl noted.
.....
Ever since she left her husband's house to restart her life in the countryside with her children, Lilian had been able to work on herself.
Thanks to her loving parents' encouragement, rigorous exercise routine and strict dieting, she lost more than a hundred pounds within a space of six months.
Currently, she was no longer the fat, ugly fool that her husband always made fun of. She was now a transformed beauty to behold.
Unfortunately for Lilian, being married to a devil like Matt came with a lot of a bottleneck.
Since they were not officially divorced, Matt still had a claim over her and his children.
Unbeknownst to Lilian, Matt had been following up on her weight reduction journey through his spies. He made sure no man ever came close to his wife. Those who dared to flirt with her often mysteriously disappeared.
After learning about her husband's supposed release date from Harriet, Lillian knew he would come looking for her to take away her children. So she started making plans to flee the country with her children.
Two days before her supposed trip, both her parents were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
After several failed attempts by the local authority to locate her parents, Lillian was beginning to lose hope of ever seeing her parents again when she received a strange phone call.
To her relief and at the same time anguish, Lillian spoke to her abducted parents, who told her that their abductors were threatening to kill them if she didn't return to her husband with the kids.
Consequently, Lilian was given only two options. She was instructed to either go back to the senator's mansion to welcome her husband with her children or receive her parents' mutilated head in a body bag.
Left without any options of securing her parents' life, Lillian decided to go with option number one.
.....
While the Shawls family waited patiently for the senator and his brothers to join them, a white family mini van drove into the mansion premises after the driver was done identifying herself at the security checkpoint.
"Who is that?" Harriet was the first to initiate the gossiping.
"It's a woman behind the wheel?"
"Could it be Judith?"
"No, Judith doesn't drive such a low-budget car"
"Then who could she be?"
"And what does she want here? Isn't this strictly a family gathering?"
Lilian pulled her car to a halt behind the Black SUV. Has slightly reddened eyes were hidden behind her wide-rim sunshade.
Memories of her last visit to this mansion and how everything turned south after Amelia's revelation about the kidnapped flooded her heart.
"Mum, do we really have to do this?" Lillian's eldest child and son, Mark, asked, his brows furrowed.
"Exactly, Mom, why can't we tell the police that Dad had Grandma and Grandpa kidnapped? I'm sure they could help us. I don't want to see you getting hurt by dad again." Lilian's daughter pleaded, tears already gathering in her shimmering eyes
"I can't." Lillian turned back to face her children. She took off her sunshade and stared directly into their worried eyes.
"We can't say anything about this to anyone, especially the police. If we do, we could lose grandma and grandpa forever, and your dad will win. I know this is going to be hard for us, but we have to try and make it work. Your dad will not go unpunished for what he has done to us. Help will come if not now, but in the future. We just have to be strong, okay?"
Both children nodded and hugged their mom.
"Let's go down and join the rest of the family." Lilian turned off the car ignition and climbed out of the minivan.
