Chapter 757 - 757: 756 It's not that I'm unreasonable
Chapter 757: 756 It’s not that I’m unreasonable
Wen Ran nodded, frowning slightly with concern. “I thought so too, which is why I’ve asked Qing Feng and Qing Yang to be extra vigilant recently.”
“Hmm, your consideration is comprehensive. As the saying goes, ‘better safe than sorry. But you don’t have to worry too much.”
“Cheng Jia may not have the time to retaliate against Bai Xiaoxiao. She was sent back by Mo Xiuchen this time, she’s probably thinking about how to get back to him and isn’t interested in anything else.”
Qin Mu calmly analyzed, “Moreover, she knows she’s on her own now. We’ve yet to settle with her about the promise she forced you to make to not bother Mo Xiuchen again.”
“She returned alone to G City, with who knows what worries in her heart. Even if you’re not in G City, your two brothers are still there.”
After listening to Qin Mu, Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, and her smile returned to her beautiful face, “Qin Mu, you’re right. I had forgotten that Cheng Jia might also be afraid.”
Seeing her smile return to her face, Qin Mu’s mood also brightened.
About to say something else, Wen Ran’s phone rang, he swallowed what he was about to say and signaled her to answer the call.
Wen Ran smiled at him and looked at the caller ID before whispering, “It’s my brother calling.”
“Ranran, have you gotten off work?”
Gu Kai’s voice came through the phone, sounding cheerful and clear.
Wen Ran’s smile instinctively blossomed, “Brother, I’m about to get off work, how come you’re so free? Don’t you have surgeries today?”
Everyone knew that Gu Kai was always busy, often performing two to three surgeries a day.
“I was relatively free today, so I decided to give you a call. How are you adjusting over there?”
“I’ve adjusted well, I can adapt to anywhere.”
Wen Ran replied with a light chuckle. What’s there to not adjust to? She’s the sort who is easily satisfied and generally optimistic.
Therefore, even though she can’t be with Mo Xiuchen right now, his occasional, disguised messages and interactions with her still made her happy and touched.
This about her – her ability to find joy easily and spread it to those around her too – is one of the reasons she’s cherished.
“As long as you’re adapting well, Ranran. I have something that I need to consult you about. You don’t need to feel pressured, just tell me what you think.”
After a moment of silence on the phone, Gu Kai’s voice came out softly.
Wen Ran asked in confusion, “Brother, what’s the matter?”
“It’s about Mo Zixuan. After you went to City C, Zhou Lin has been visiting Ah Jin at the factory every day. This afternoon, she gave him a bunch of photos of Cheng Jia, which were taken by Mo Zixuan’s people.”
Gu Kai paused there, seemingly to allow Wen Ran to digest the news.
Wen Ran said ‘Oh’ and fell silent.
After a couple of seconds, Gu Kai’s voice came again, “I, Ah Jin, and Ah Feng went to visit Mo Zixuan. He regrets what he’s done and wants to go to jail as a way to ease his guilt. Ranran, I and Ah Jin would like to hear your thoughts.”
“Brother, I don’t have an opinion. Whatever you guys decide to do, I’m okay with it.”
Wen Ran pursed her lips slightly and said softly, “Whether he goes to jail or not has no meaning to me. If he really regrets and can take responsibility for his previous actions, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.”
What she was referring to was Zhou Lin.
Though in this matter, Mo Zixuan was a victim too. However, Zhou Lin’s daughter was also his daughter, a fact that couldn’t be changed.
Zhou Lin was quite attached to him.
She returned to help him when he was at his lowest, which was more than his own parents did.
“Ranran, Ah Jin was right. Since you think this way, we will let him off this time.”
After Wen Ran ended the call, Qin Mu asked, “Isn’t Gu Kai going to pursue Mo Zixuan’s matter anymore?”
Wen Ran nodded, “Mo Zixuan gave some photos of Cheng Jia to my brother through Zhou Lin. I don’t know what the photos are of, but from my brother’s tone, they should be useful.”
Qin Mu pondered and then said blandly, “Perhaps, they are photos of Cheng Jia with other men.”
He had some knowledge of Cheng Jia’s past actions.
Including, those few months Cheng Jia was in D Country, her ‘merits’ were due to certain sacrifices she made.
Later, when Mo Zixuan took over the company, some incidents occurred there.
The vice president who had an illicit transaction with Cheng Jia was implicated, causing their business to be affected as well.
If not for that, Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t have had to put in so much effort to open up the market in D Country once again.
Cheng Jia was the type of woman who’d use her body for her own benefits.
Mo Zixuan must have had those photos taken in order to keep her under control.
“If that’s the case, it’s not surprising that my brother would consider letting Mo Zixuan off the hook.”
Wen Ran quietly said.
When she first met Mo Zixuan, he was a cheerful, sunny, enthusiastic, young man.
Without any of those later desires or…the things that happened after.
Wen Ran didn’t know what changed Mo Zixuan, leaving him unreasonable, annoying, even extreme, selfish, and in the end, willing to do anything for his desires.
“Let’s not talk about Mo Zixuan. Let’s clean up and get off work. An Lin has a function to attend tonight. We don’t have to wait for her, I’ll take you out for dinner.”
Looking at the watch on his wrist, Qin Mu saw it was getting late.
Wen Ran glanced at the documents on the table and said, “I’ll be back to work overtime later, so I won’t clean up.”
Qin Mu frowned and stood up to clean up her documents, saying, “You haven’t fully recovered yet, you shouldn’t tire yourself out. You can do these tasks tomorrow. If you can’t finish them, I can find a few people to help you.”
“Qin Mu, don’t touch that.”
Seeing Qin Mu clearing up her documents, Wen Ran quickly reached out to stop him, “I’ve done half of it already…”
Qin Mu didn’t care whether she’d done half or not, he insisted on clearing up.
In only a moment, the table full of Wen Ran’s documents was tidied up and the computer was shut down.
“Qin Mu, when did you become so unreasonable?”
Wen Ran frowned, protesting unhappily.
Qin Mu simply laughed, the corners of his mouth curving into an attractive arc, “It’s not that I’m unreasonable, but that you’re not self-aware. If you insisted on working overtime, I would have to accompany you. I don’t want you getting sick from overwork and having your two brothers hold me accountable.”
Only when he mentioned getting sick did Wen Ran suddenly remember the call she’d received from Mother Qin earlier, “If you hadn’t mentioned getting sick, I would have almost forgotten. This afternoon, Mother Qin called me to ask if you had obediently stayed in the hospital.”
“Is that so, what was your reply?”
Qin Mu’s eyes grew darker, but the smile on his lips remained.
Wen Ran picked up her bag and walked out of the office with him.
Speaking to Qin Mu as he closed the door behind him, “Of course, I lied for you. I told Mother Qin that you were resting well.”
