Chapter 15: CH 15
Immortal.
That doesn't mean you won't get hurt.
The immortality of the Dog Talisman is very simple: for example, Uncle Long was unscathed by a blast of dragon flames, while the Holy Master was injured by the same attack.
This is because Uncle Long suffered a fatal injury, triggering the body's immortality effect. Meanwhile, the Holy Master's blood was too thick for the attack to be considered fatal, so he could only recover using the Horse Talisman.
Fatal wounds only activate the effect. It means immunity or instant recovery only works when the attack is lethal.
"In other words, except for rules or causal abilities beyond the power of the Dog Talisman, no lethal attack can directly kill Bai Yu."
"Injuries? There are healing fruits for that."
Fatal immunity combined with injury recovery—when the two are combined, no matter which top powerhouse appears at the moment, Bai Yu dares to confront them directly.
"I didn't expect the happiness of immortality to come so quickly," Bai Yu thought calmly. "It's a pity I can't use it to help Kaya and the others."
From now on, he needed to think more about how to make the girls live forever. Being happy together—that was true happiness.
Two Days Later
Baratie, the Sea Restaurant
On the Sky Island cloud boat, Kaya curiously asked, "Brother Bai Yu, you've been waiting here for a while. What are you waiting for?"
"I'm waiting for an opponent to test myself against before heading to the Grand Line," Bai Yu replied, his fighting spirit boiling within him. Then, looking at Nami, he added, "By the way, take Nojiko and Makino down with you. Ask the chef there for some recipes and learn a few cooking techniques."
"Do I have to go too?" Nami hesitated.
She noticed that Luffy was still in the restaurant. Although they had no deep connection, they were friends. However, she knew they would probably be hostile toward Bai Yu.
Bai Yu raised an eyebrow. "What? Do you think they dare to take you away? Just throw them into the sea!"
"Got it! I was just asking." Nami made a playful face and then flew down with the two girls.
Bai Yu gently stroked Kaya's hair and asked, "How strong do you think the world's greatest swordsman is?"
"Hmm… He should be able to split our ship in half, right?" Kaya answered uncertainly.
"Haha, almost." Bai Yu chuckled at her answer.
After all, why is he called the world's greatest swordsman? If he isn't strong enough, then Zoro's dream would be nothing but a joke.
Some people claim that Mihawk isn't as strong as the Emperors or Admirals, but among countless swordsmen worldwide, he stands at the very top. That alone makes him one of the world's strongest fighters.
If not, all swordsmen would be deemed second-rate.
"If the world's greatest swordsman isn't a top-tier powerhouse, then what's the point of practicing swordsmanship?"
"All the strongest swordsmen in the world are only second-rate? Then all swordsmen might as well kill themselves!"
Such a simple truth, yet people still argue over it.
Zoro's dream is to stand at the top of the world because mastering Haki is also essential for a swordsman. And Mihawk is undeniably one of the world's top powerhouses, capable of rivaling Shanks.
After all, if the strongest swordsman were second-rate, Whitebeard wouldn't have marveled at their duel.
Regarding the Four Emperors
"The Four Emperors… it's getting harder and harder to take them seriously," Bai Yu thought.
He used to hear people claim that a single Emperor could defeat three Admirals, making the Emperors seem overwhelmingly powerful. Yet, when Big Mom and Kaido fought, anyone could step in, deal damage, and escape death—it was hard to watch.
The idea of Four Emperor Buggy is enough to make anyone nervous!
If Big Mom and Kaido could actually kill anyone in the protagonist group, forcing Luffy to go through a proper life-or-death struggle, then the Emperors' reputations might have been preserved.
Unfortunately, their strongest attacks felt more like scratches, and they seemed to provide free combat lessons to the newcomers.
Despite Kaido's overwhelming performance, he still lost.
"Poor Mr. Kaido… it's hard to say anything more."
He's Coming!
Bai Yu, who had been mentally critiquing the Emperors, suddenly looked down.
"He's coming!"
The man had arrived!
Below Deck
At the Baratie, the sudden appearance of Nami surprised Luffy.
"Ah! Makino?!"
Seeing Makino, Luffy's expression turned blank.
Was this a hallucination? How could that gentle big sister be here?
Makino smiled softly. "It's good to see that you're okay. I've gone out to sea as well—with Nami."
"T-Together?" Luffy's brain couldn't process this.
Before he could say more, Nami took action.
"Cloud Lock!"
Dozens of cloud-like chains wrapped around the stunned Luffy. Before he could react, Nami threw him into the sea.
"Whoosh!"
Luffy flew straight into the water with a splash.
"Nami, you—" Usopp was stunned.
Sanji, who had been eager to flirt with the pretty girls, also froze. This woman was dangerous!
"Tsk, how troublesome," Zoro muttered as he threw down his sword and jumped into the sea to save Luffy.
"Don't worry, everyone." Nami smiled at the onlookers. "My big brother is a pirate with a bounty of one billion berries. My two sisters just want to learn some cooking skills from your chef and ask for a few good recipes. I hope you don't mind?"
She added with a smile, "Oh, and by the way, my big brother is watching from the sky."
Silence.
Zeff: "…"
Sanji: "…"
Was this a threat? This was definitely a threat!
Faced with such a cute yet dangerous little girl, Zeff naturally agreed to help. He wouldn't dare refuse, and besides, it wouldn't take long to teach them.
Meanwhile…
The remnants of the Krieg Pirates were fleeing in terror, their ship split in half by a massive slash. The sea fell into dead silence.
"It's him!"
"It's really him!"
Zoro, who had just surfaced with Luffy in his arms, trembled with excitement. His entire body was tense.
On the horizon floated a small boat resembling a coffin, with candles flickering on its edges. In the middle sat a man with piercing hawk-like eyes and a cold aura—Dracule Mihawk.
The world's greatest swordsman!
One of the world's strongest men!
Mihawk ignored the crowd, his Observation Haki sensing a willpower brewing in the sky above—an uncontrollable fighting spirit ready to shake the world.
"I can feel it… your uncontrollable thirst for battle."
"Are you waiting for me?"
His gaze lifted toward the sky.
"The Demon King Who Shook the World!"
