Chapter 696: Chapter 696 Price List at the Wet Market_1

The situation was highly unfavorable, and Marcel Jefferson immediately realized that it would be difficult to gain any advantage today. He submitted an application to the judge, “Your Honor, the testimony of our witness before and after the court hearing is contradictory. We need time to clarify the facts and request an adjournment to reconvene at a later date!”

“Your Honor, the new witness has already appeared in court!” Mr. Johnson, defending Leon Brown, opposed upon hearing this.

Since the witness had already appeared, it was unreasonable to leave without having said a single piece of testimony.

The judge said, “I allow the defense witness to speak.”

Marcel Jefferson had no choice but to sit back down.

Mr. Johnson straightened his clothes, with a curve at the corner of his lips, he stood up, sweeping his gaze over Marcel Jefferson, exhibiting an assured and triumphant demeanor.

“Witness, please tell everyone your name and occupation,” he asked.

Sister Katherine appeared quite ill at ease in such a solemn setting, seeming constrained and her eyes erratically shifting.

“My name is Katarina Clark, I’m the floor manager at Venus Nightclub, and they usually call me Sister Katherine.”

“What is your job description?”

“To satisfy the customers by providing the corresponding services, fulfilling all of the guests’ requests…”

“Can you be more specific?” Mr. Johnson asked, while pointing at Leon Brown who was sitting down, “For example, when my client Mr. Leon Brown comes to your nightclub for leisure, how do you provide service to him?”

Sister Katherine lifted her eyes to Leon Brown and then, seemingly intimidated, quickly averted her gaze.

She pursed her lips and answered, “Our nightclub would put all the lady’s information into a database. Whatever type of woman the guest wants, they can search by need, and they will find what they want. For example, some guests like women with white skin, some like voluptuous ones, some like those who have practiced gymnastics and are flexible… I would arrange for the ladies to work according to the guests’ preferences and then take a certain percentage of commission.”

“The database you mentioned, is it this?” Mr. Johnson lifted a stack of documents in his hand, pulled out one, and placed it in front of Sister Katherine.

The remaining documents were distributed to the judge and the jury, as well as to Marcel Jefferson who represented the prosecution.

It was a printed sheet of an Excel spreadsheet.

The first column listed women’s names followed by their ages, heights, three measurements, even including each one’s menstrual cycle dates, presumably for the convenience of guests who needed to make reservations.

Just as Sister Katherine had described, some ladies’ information columns would specifically highlight their skills, such as looking like a certain star, which would make them more popular.

Seeing this overtly transactional form for the first time, the judge scoffed, “I thought I was looking at a produce market price list.”

On this sheet, what she saw was not living individuals, but a pile of produce ready for selection and combination, trampling women’s dignity underfoot, descending into depravity and ugliness.

Mr. Johnson pointed to one part of it and continued to inquire, “Can you explain the meaning of this column?”

In the last column of the table, there were several star icons on display, each person having different ones.

Sister Katherine explained, “These are marked according to each person’s willingness. The higher the star rating, the more extensive the services offered, and the higher the payment.”

“What do you mean by ‘extent’?”

“It means… being up for more adventurous play, such as anal, bondage, toys, flogging, and the like,” Sister Katherine paused before continuing, “There is usually some degree of violence involved. Although the risks are higher, the compensation corresponds accordingly.”

Mr. Johnson looked even more triumphant as he pointed to Lindsay Carpenter’s name and asked Sister Katherine, “Ms. Lindsay Carpenter has the highest star rating, can I understand that the service she provides is the most extensive?”

Sister Katherine nodded, “That’s right, correct.”

Mr. Johnson’s lips curled, and with a proud glance at Marcel Jefferson, he said, “Your Honor, I have finished my questions.”

The judge tapped the gavel once and said emotionlessly, “The factual basis of this case is clear and evident; there’s no need to waste time with a later session. Court is adjourned for one hour, after which we will continue.”
