Fractured Wings

Chapter 61: Chapter 61

The world felt like a cacophony of ruin. The once-proud halls of UA High school lay in shattered fragments, their skeletal remains jutting like broken teeth from the earth. Smoke coiled in the air, thick and suffocating, carrying with it the scent of burning wood, melted metal, and something far more primal.

Todoroki Shoto moved through the devastation like a specter, his mismatched eyes scanning the chaos with a cold, calculating precision. Frost crept up along his left arm, delicate tendrils of ice forming and dissolving in rhythm with his breath, while his right side radiated a subdued heat to balance him out, it was a promise of violence upon anyone tempting to ambush him on any side.

Beside him, Vlad King was like a mountain of muscle and resolve, his crimson blood quirk already swirling around him in intricate patterns, hardening into jagged constructs that glistened like wet blood in the dim light. The Pro Hero's face was set in a grim mask, his jaw clenched tight as he surveyed the destruction. They had been too late to stop the initial assault, they hadn't even noticed it coming, All Might couldn't get to them quick enough but Todoroki came up with something to shield them and those nearby. Now they just had to be there to save the one's that remained.

A scream pierced the air—high-pitched, desperate, and unmistakably human. Todoroki's head snapped toward the sound, his body moving before his mind could fully process the command. Vlad King was already ahead of him... "Get Ready!" he shouted to him.

Todoroki nodded as he rounded the corner only a couple steps behind Vlad King. What greeted them was a sight of horror.

Muscular stood at the center of the devastation, his grotesque enhanced body a monument to unchecked power. His muscles bulged and pulsed, veins writhing beneath his skin like serpents trapped in a cage. In his hand, he held Mineta by the collar, the small boy dangling like a ragdoll, his face pale and tear-streaked. Tsuyu stood a few feet away, her wide eyes filled with fear.

"You're all so pathetic," Muscular sneered, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very ground. "You think you can be heroes? You're just children playing dress-up!"

Todoroki didn't hesitate. With a flick of his wrist, a jagged spire of ice erupted from the ground, slamming into Muscular's side with enough force to send him stumbling. The villain roared, his grip on Mineta loosening just enough for the boy to wriggle free and scramble toward Tsuyu.

"Get behind us," Vlad King commanded, his voice a thunderous boom that brooked no argument. His blood constructs surged forward, forming a protective barrier between the students and the villains. Mineta and Tsuyu obeyed without question, their relief palpable but short-lived.

Muscular's laughter echoed through the ruins, a sound that was equal parts amusement and malice. "Two more heroes to crush? This just keeps getting better!"

Todoroki's eyes narrowed, his breath visible in the frosty air. "You talk too much."

The battle erupted in a blur of motion and chaos. Todoroki's ice surged forward, encasing Muscular's legs in a frozen prison, but the villain tore free with a roar, his muscles expanding grotesquely as he shattered the ice with ease. Vlad King's blood constructs lashed out like whips, striking Muscular with enough force to crack stone, but the villain shrugged off the blows as if they were nothing.

"Is that all you've got?" Muscular taunted, his voice was booming like thunder. He lunged forward, his fist aimed squarely at Vlad King, but Todoroki intercepted with a burst of flame, the heat forcing Muscular to retreat momentarily.

The fight was a chaotic dance of fire, ice and blood, each move calculated but desperate. Todoroki's mind raced, his dual quirk working in perfect harmony as he alternated between offense and defense. But Muscular was relentless, his raw power overwhelming even their combined efforts.

Then, with a sudden burst of speed, Muscular grabbed something from the ground—a dark, crumpled figure. Tokoyami. The shadowy hero hung limply in Muscular's grasp, his quirk subdued, his body battered.

"I can't play all day long with you guys." Muscular growled, his voice low and dangerous. He turned and bolted down the hallway, his massive frame tearing through walls and debris as if they were paper.

"After him!" Vlad King shouted, already sprinting forward. Todoroki followed without hesitation, his heart pounding in his chest. They couldn't let Muscular escape. They couldn't let him take Tokoyami.

The chase was a blur of destruction. Muscular's path of devastation was easy to follow, but catching him was another matter entirely. Todoroki's ice surged ahead, creating barriers to slow the villain down, but Muscular smashed through them with ease. Vlad King's blood constructs lashed out, trying to ensnare Tokoyami and drag him back, but the villain layed a tight grip on him and his strength was too much.

Finally, they burst into a large, open area—what was left of UA's central courtyard. The scene that greeted them made Todorki's stomach drop.

The League of Villains were waiting.

Tomura Shigaraki stood at the center, his hand resting casually on his neck, his red eyes gleaming with malice. Twice muttered to himself, his mask shifting between expressions. Magne leaned on her giant magnet, Spinner adjusted his grip on his sword, and Cipher stood slightly apart. At the edge of the group, Mr Compress adjusted his mask, his gloved hands holding up a small, blue marble.

And in Muscular's grasp, Tokoyami hung limp, his breathing shallow.

"Took you long enough," Shigaraki rasped, his voice dripping with disdain and what sounded like boredom. "We were starting to think you'd given up"

Was there seriously no one else? No other hero teachers? Or heroes in the area?

Todoroki was starting to feel much more worry than when he had even seen the plane and had a feeling he was going to die.

"Twice, how many of your clones are still in their fighting?" The gears in Todoroki's head moved faster than they ever had before. That would be why the teacher's are not here yet,

"Just a few, No a lot!" he gave his answers. "They'll be all gone soon."

Shigarki nodded his head slowly and scratched his neck, lacking the intensity that Todoroki had associated with him whenever he notices the man doing said action.

Vlad King stepped forward, his blood constructs swirling menacingly. "Let the boy go. This ends now."

Shigaraki chuckled, the sound dry and brittle. "Oh, it's already over. You just refuse to acknowledge that you heroes are on a losing streak."

Before anyone could react, Muscular tossed Tokoyami's body over toward Mr. Compress, who caught him with a theatrical flourish. In one smooth motion, Compress tapped Tokoyami's shoulder, and the boy vanished, replaced by a small, blue marble. He held it up, the light glinting off it's surface.

"One down," Compress said, his voice smug. "And one to go."

From the shadows, Toga emerged, dragging an unconscious Bakugou behind her. She dropped him unceremoniously at Shigaraki's feet, her golden eyes gleaming with excitement. "He put up a good fight, but... well you know I guess."

Todoroki's fists clenched, his flames flickering to life. "You're not taking them."

Shigaraki tilted his head, his grin widening. "Oh but we already have."

Compress reached down, tapping Bakugou's shoulder. In an instant, the explosive hero student was reduced to another blue marble, joining Tokoyami in Compress's gloved hand.

"Another failure for you heroes," Shigaraki said, his voice rising with mockery. "How many students have to leave, die or disappear before you realize you're out of you're depth?"

The air around the League began to warp, a dark portal swirling to life behind them. Kurogiri's presence was unmistakable, his golden eyes glowing from within the void.

"This was fun," Toga said, waving her knife playfully. "Let's do it again sometime!"

Todoroki was on the move and running forward trying to catch up. "Get back here!"

Before he could act, a sudden roar of engines filled the air. A blur of blue and silver shot past him, too fast to follow. In an instant, the marble in Compress's hand was knocked free, flying through the air before shattering on the ground. Tokoyami tumbled out. disoriented but alive.

Tenya Iida skidded to a halt, his engines smoking, his glasses slightly askew. "I won't let you take them!" he declared, his voice was firm despite the exhaustion in his eyes.

From above floating debris and parts of the carcass of the plane had floated just above the League, there was some ruckus from them and then laughter.

Shigaraki held a wide grin, wider and more deranged than ever.

"Too little, too late heroes!"

The portal swallowed them whole and the falling debris just caused a big smoke screen for some moments. But that was it.

The League were gone.

Bakugou was gone.

Todoroki stood frozen, his flames flickering out, his ice melting into nothing. The courtyard was silent, save for the crackling of distant fires and the faint sound of Iida's engines cooling down.

They had lost Bakugou.

They had failed.

Yuki had her hand on the hilt of her katana, there was subtle tension in her shoulders, the cold gleam in her eyes cut through the previous haze she had like the blade on her waist.

As they dropped to the ground they heard a scream, one that came from such a familiar voice.

A voice of their childhood's, of hope and inspiration. One that always reassured anyone that heard it. All Might was hurt.

As they approached the scene, they ducked and dived away from civilians in the area that had just appeared in the game world, and as they arrived at the scene of the fight all they scene was something of unparalleled intensity.

All Might and Endeavour, the two pillars of hero society, were locked in a battle that defied comprehension. Their movements were a blur of speed and power, their quirks colliding with such force that the air itself seemed to fracture.

And at the center of it all was him—Proxy. The enigmatic villain moved with an almost casual grace, his every action calculated, his every move a step ahead. The ground beneath them cracked and splintered, the buildings around them reduced to rubble as the three titans were clashing.

Yuki's hand tightened around her katana, her knuckles turned white. For a moment, the urge to join the fray burned within her, a fire that threatened to consume her icy exterior. But she was not one to act on impulse. She assessed the situation with the precision of a strategist, her mind weighing the risks and rewards.

"We'd only get in the way," she said, her voice low and steady.

Nejire glanced at her, her usual cheer replaced by a rare seriousness. "But... we can't just do nothing, can we?"

Ryukyu's voice cut in, calm and authoritative, echoed in their minds. "Our duty is to the people. We can't help them if we're caught in that crossfire."

Yuki nodded, her violet eyes scanning the surrounding area. The city was in chaos, it's streets filled with panicked civilians and the eerie glow of people just being forcefully brought in to this world. The sky looked as if it were getting darker, and that only made the scene look more horror-like.

Yes. All they could do was leave it to their strongest and hope for the best.

"We help them," Yuki said, her tone leaving no room for argument. "We get them out of harms way."

The others nodded, their resolve hardening. Ryukyu descended with a grace that belied her massive form, her wings cutting through the air like a blade. As they touched down, the group sprang into action, each of them moving with a purpose that mirrored Yuki's own.

***

All Might and Endeavour stood side-by-side, their bodies battered and bloodied, but their resolve unshaken. Their eyes were locked on the figure before them—Daigo Kiyoshi, Proxy. His blade dripped with blood, his expression one of cold detachment, but there was a flicker of something else in his eyes—something that might have been amusement, or perhaps even respect.

Endeavour's flames roared around him, a blazing inferno that illuminated the battlefield with an intense, golden light. His jaw was clenched, his teeth grinding together as he fought to suppress the pain that coursed through his body. His side was bleeding profusely, the wound from Proxy's blade a constant reminder of how dangerous this man swordsmanship was also.

All Might on the other hand, was a shadow of his former self. His muscles were trembling with exhaustion. His iconic smile was gone, replaced by a grim determination that burned in his eyes. His right arm hung limply at his side, the bones shattered from a previous clash with Proxy. But even in this state, he was a force to be reckoned with. The Symbol of Peace was not so easily broken.

Proxy tilted his head slightly, his lips curling into a smirk. "You two just don't know when to quit, do you?" he said, his voice calm and mocking. "It's actually admirable."

Endeavour's flames flared brighter, the heat intensifying as his anger boiled over. "Shut up," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "You're done talking."

All Might didn't respond. Instead, he focused his energy, his muscles bulging as he prepared to unleash a devastating punch. The air around him cracked with power as he swung his fist, the force of the blow shattering the ground beneath him and sending shockwaves through the area.

Proxy teleported away, reappearing behind All Might with his blade already swinging. But Endeavour was ready. His flames surged forward, forming a barrier of a heat even more intense than he had already been using, the heat melted the blade causing Daigo to make it disappear in a flash and back away to bring out another one.

The heroes pressed on their assault.

All Might's mind raced as he analyzed the situation. He had noticed Proxy's movement's were slightly slower after each teleport, as though the act of warping space and time took a toll on his body. If they could exploit that, they might have a chance.

"Endeavour," All Might said, his voice was low and steady. "We need to limit his movements. Force him into a corner."

Endeavour nodded, his flames flaring brighter as he prepared to execute the plan. He unleashed a massive firestorm, the heat so intense it melted the ground beneath them. The flames surged forward, creating a wall of fire that again forced Proxy to retreat.

All Might took advantage of this opening, his body moving with the speed and precision of a seasoned warrior. He launched himself forward, his fist aimed directly at Proxy's chest. The villain teleported away, but All Might anticipated the move. He pivoted mid-air, his fist slamming into the ground and creating a shockwave that disrupted Proxy's teleportation.

Proxy reappeared a few feet away, his body momentarily unstable. Endeavour was already there, his flames surging forward to create a barrier that trapped the villain. Proxy's eyes widened as he realized what was happening... All Might was already in motion.

All Might was coming down fast, his fist connected with Proxy's chest, the force of the blow sending shockwaves through the air. The ground beneath them cracked and splintered, the impact creating a massive crater. Proxy's body crumpled under the force, his blade falling from his hand as he was sent flying backward.

This is the point where the villain would be down and All Might would raise his hand in the air screaming 'Plus Ultra!'

But no, he didn't stop. He followed through with the attack, his fist slamming into Proxy's chest again and again, each blow more powerful than the last. The sound of bones cracking through the air, the sickening crunch of flesh and bone a testament to the sheer force of his punches.

Endeavour watched from a distance, his flames flickering as he caught his breath. He knew this was it—the final blow. All Might was unleashing everything he had, his body pushed to its absolute limit. The Symbol of Peace was not holding back.

Proxy's body hit the ground with a sickening thud, his chest caved in from the force of All Might's punches. Blood pooled beneath him, staining the ground a dark, ominous red. His breathing was ragged, each breath a struggle, each exhale a shuddering gasp.

All Might stood over him, his body trembling with exhaustion. His fist was still clenched, smoke rising from the impact. His eyes burned with a fierce determination, but there was also a hint of sadness. This was not how he wanted it to end.

This was not a moment he would happily scream 'Plus Ultra.'

Proxy looked up at him, his eyes filled with a strange calm. He smiled, a gentle, almost peaceful expression on his face. "You did it," he said, his voice barely above whisper. "You won. The hero wins again."

All Might didn't respond. He simply stood there, his body trembling with exhaustion, his mind racing with the weight of what he had just done.

Proxy's smile widened, his eyes closing as he took a final, shuddering breath. "Even though there may have been a lot of bad," he said, his voice fading, "I really enjoyed this life. Maybe in the next one... I'll truly find a Eden."

And with that, Proxy... Daigo Kiyoshi took his final breath.

The scene fell silent, the only sound was the crackling of Endeavour's flames and the distant rumble of collapsing buildings. All Might stood over Proxy's lifeless body, his fist still clenched, his body trembling with exhaustion. He had done it. He had ended the nightmare.

Endeavour approached, his flames flickering as he caught his breath. "It's over," he said, his voice low and steady.

All Might nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and sorrow. "It's over," he repeated.

The two heroes stood side by side, their bodies battered and bloodied, but their resolve unshaken. They had faced the impossible and emerged victorious. But the cost had been high—too high.

As the sun began to set below the horizon, casting a deep tan light over the battlefield, All Might and Endeavour turned and walked away, their heads held high. They had done what needed to be done. And in the end, that was all that mattered.

Eventually, they started shimmering. Their bodies were glowing and they felt like they were fading away... they were returning back home, to the real world.
