Holding the glowing card, Tong Gu calmly approached Jogo, whose body was missing a significant portion. Even now, Tong Gu couldn't help but find this cursed spirit comically ill-fated.
In the anime, Jogo was a formidable fighter in high-stakes battles but often underestimated opponents. Yet here, against a mere Black Iron-Tier player, he barely avoided complete defeat.
Jogo glared at the tall human before him, intuition hinting the man was harboring highly offensive thoughts.
Despite the severe injuries, Tong Gu assessed that Jogo wasn't critically wounded as when Satoru Gojo had decapitated him in the anime. Thus, Jogo would likely survive, making him still a key asset.
Jogo's remaining hand hovered, ready to activate his Domain Expansion. Yet the human merely glanced his way before dialing a phone to call for reinforcements, refraining from further hostility. This steadied Jogo's nerves.
Truthfully, the earlier display of human power bewildered him. How had someone with seemingly minimal cursed energy unleashed such devastating force?
---
Upon returning to the Star Religious Group headquarters, Hanami, Mahito, and even Suguru Geto were taken aback by Jogo's state. Initially, when Tong Gu had requested assistance from certain powerful cursed spirits, Geto had dismissed it as a bid for strength.
But as Geto witnessed firsthand the overwhelming malevolence and cursed energy radiating from these spirits, he realized they were leagues above any special-grade spirits he'd previously commanded.
Yet one of these terrifying beings had returned, severely injured from clearing out hidden enemies within the organization. This revelation filled Geto with a lingering unease—there were indeed threats hidden within his sect.
[Due to your elimination of hidden enemies within the Star Religious Group, the side mission "Exposing the Traitors" has advanced significantly.]
[Current Completion: 50%]
[Major story character Suguru Geto's favorability has significantly increased.]
[Current Relationship: Respectful.]
Tong Gu noticed Geto processing this realization. Though partially imagined, it wasn't wholly unfounded. The player Cao Qi had indeed boasted of defeating Geto twice before. With his advanced martial techniques, Cao Qi could have posed a serious threat—especially had he struck following Geto's injuries inflicted by Yuta Okkotsu.
Hanami's branches trembled slightly, but Jogo waved it off sheepishly.
"It wasn't his fault. I underestimated the enemy's tactics."
Mahito grinned mischievously, unreservedly examining Jogo's wounds while sneaking glances at Tong Gu. Being a manifestation of humanity's hatred for one another, Mahito could easily sense hidden desires within humans.
The human's eyes revealed fascination—perhaps a dangerous curiosity toward himself.
Tong Gu met Mahito's gaze, offering a friendly nod while tapping lightly on his sword sheath.
Later, as Jogo sought Mahito's healing, Geto and Tong Gu left the room together.
Geto, walking ahead and nodding to passing followers, mused aloud:
"Where did you learn about these cursed spirits? I've never heard of beings this powerful."
"Just the perks of being a wanderer. You pick up some interesting gossip."
Sensing Tong Gu's unwillingness to elaborate, Geto dropped the topic. Gazing out at Tokyo's vibrant cityscape, he suddenly spoke:
"Even with their strength, defeating that man will be nearly impossible."
Tong Gu understood whom Geto referred to—Satoru Gojo.
In this world, only a fully awakened Sukuna or a select few extraordinary techniques could possibly challenge Gojo.
Standing beside the window, Tong Gu leaned out to view the neon brilliance of the metropolis.
"Geto, do you know how much decadence and darkness lie hidden behind those dazzling lights?"
A glint of menace flickered in Geto's narrowed eyes. Though clad in monk robes, his aura remained undeniably sinister.
"I'm well aware."
Tong Gu chuckled softly, hair tousled by the night breeze. In Geto's eyes, the normally composed man now exuded a rare wildness, as if the vast city lay within his grasp.
"Then don't you think Satoru Gojo sees it too?"
Geto froze, startled by the question. It had never crossed his mind to wonder how Gojo—his friend and adversary—perceived the world and the sorcery community.
He'd always assumed Gojo, as the six-eyed prodigy of the Gojo Clan, would naturally align himself with protecting societal order and balance. But what were Gojo's personal thoughts?
Turning swiftly, Geto sought to press Tong Gu for clarification, only to see him walking away.
"What do you think Gojo believes?"
Tong Gu paused, glancing over his shoulder.
"Geto, never rely on others to fulfill your ambitions. Only you can bring them to life."
His words carried weight, as though veiled in deeper meaning. After a moment, his expression brightened.
"For now, your priority should be mastering that ability before it's too late."
Snapping back to reality, Geto nodded and collected his composure. Tong Gu was right—his focus should remain on his immediate goals. Even if Gojo opposed them, success wouldn't come easily for the sorcerer.
---
In a grand hall, sparsely scattered figures sat—many with peculiar temperaments, some violent and brazen, others sinister and ruthless. They were sorcerers and curse users drawn by Geto's ideals.
As Geto entered, the JK-uniform-clad Mimiko and Nanako were the first to rise, their trust and reverence for him apparent. He gently patted their heads, guiding them back to their seats.
Tong Gu followed Geto into the hall, his gaze sweeping over familiar figures—Miguel, capable of briefly restraining Gojo with the Black Rope; Larue, the shirtless muscle-bound curse user—and several others newly drawn by Geto's call.
Stepping onto the stage, Geto spread his arms wide, his voice filled with fervor:
"The wait is over, my family."
"The age of the monkeys is ending. Let us create a paradise for sorcerers!"
"Next week, on December 24th, we will unleash the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons across Tokyo and Kyoto. Let the world know—"
"The sorrowful cycle binding humans, curses, and sorcerers ends here. We shall usher in a golden age for sorcery!"
