Chapter 532: Gone Dark

"You promised," Yun-Jin gasped, her voice breaking as the tears streamed down her face. "You promised you wouldn't go alone!"

The words hit Daemon harder than Osalf's blade. His chest ached, not just from the steel piercing his body, but from the weight of Yun-Jin's grief, the guilt that twisted inside him like a knife. He had promised. He had sworn to her that he wouldn't go in alone. And yet, here he was, bleeding out at her feet, the life slipping away from him faster than he could hold onto it.

Osalf's voice was a low growl as he pulled his blade from Daemon's chest, the steel slick with blood. "You think you can stop this?" Osalf sneered, his voice cold, his eyes gleaming with cruel amusement. "You think you can save him?"

Yun-Jin's hands trembled, her grip tightening on the hilt of her sword. Tears streamed down her cheeks, her breath coming in short, ragged bursts as she stepped forward, her eyes blazing with fury. "I'll kill you," she snarled, her voice trembling with the weight of her words. "I'll make you pay for this."

Osalf laughed, the sound sharp and bitter as he raised his free hand, the air around him crackling with energy. "You'll die like he did, girl," he said coldly, his voice filled with certainty. "You're nothing."

And then, with a single, fluid motion, Osalf brought his hand down, the arc of his strike aimed directly at Yun-Jin's heart.

For a brief second, it seemed inevitable—the end. Yun-Jin's eyes widened in shock, the sharp edge of Osalf's blade whistling toward her, the strike too fast to avoid.

But just as the blade was about to connect, Yun-Jin moved.

A blur of motion, quick and precise. Daemon's breath caught in his throat as he recognized the movement—a move Ty had taught her, one so quick and fluid that it left her opponent off-balance. Yun-Jin dodged to the side, her body twisting in a graceful arc as she narrowly avoided the strike, Osalf's blade cutting through the air where she had just stood.

Before Osalf could recover, Yun-Jin's sword flashed through the air, her blade cutting in a swift, deadly arc as it connected with Osalf's eyes. Blood sprayed from the wounds, Osalf's body jerking violently as he staggered back, his hands flying to his face.

"You—!" Osalf's voice broke, a scream of pain ripping through the clearing as he stumbled, clutching at his face, blood streaming down his cheeks in dark, crimson rivers.

Daemon gasped, the pain in his chest blinding him as his body convulsed. His hand twitched, weakly reaching for the hilt of his blade, but he couldn't move. He could barely breathe. His chest felt like it was collapsing, each breath a struggle, the blood filling his lungs.

And then Yun-Jin was there, kneeling beside him, her hands trembling as she pressed them against the wound in his chest, trying to stop the flow of blood. Tears streamed down her face, her breath coming in short, desperate gasps as she looked down at him.

"You promised," she whispered, her voice shaking. "You promised you wouldn't go alone. Why didn't you wait?"

Daemon's vision blurred, the edges of the world growing darker as the pain in his chest intensified. He could barely see her now, her face a haze of light and shadow, but he could hear the desperation in her voice, the pain in her words.

"I'm sorry," Daemon gasped, his voice barely audible, his breath ragged. "I didn't… I didn't want you to get hurt."

"I'm not the one hurt!" Yun-Jin cried, her voice breaking as she pressed harder against the wound, the blood seeping through her fingers. "You are! And I can't stop it."

Daemon's chest tightened, the weight of his failure pressing down on him. He had promised her. He had sworn to her that he would protect her, that he would keep fighting. But now, here he was, bleeding out at her feet, his body giving up on him, the darkness closing in.

He tried to speak, to give her some last words of comfort, but the pain was too much. His body trembled, his breath shallow and uneven as the cold crept through his veins, numbing him to the pain.

But then, despite the agony, a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"Yun-Jin…" Daemon whispered, his voice weak but laced with humor. "You still have that crush on Ty, huh?"

Yun-Jin's breath caught in her throat, her tears falling faster as she looked down at him, her face twisted in a mixture of anger and grief. "Shut up, Daemon!" she cried, her voice cracking. "You're not dying here. You're not allowed to die here."

Daemon's smile widened, though it was strained with pain. "I don't know if… I get a choice in that, kid."

Yun-Jin shook her head, her hands trembling as she pressed harder against the wound, her voice breaking. "I won't let you die. You promised me. You said you wouldn't leave me."

Daemon's chest heaved, the pain overwhelming him as his body convulsed, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. But he forced himself to meet her gaze, his eyes filled with a fierce determination, even as the darkness threatened to overtake him.

"Keep fighting, Yun-Jin," Daemon rasped, his voice barely a whisper. "No matter what happens… keep fighting. You're stronger than you think."

Yun-Jin's tears fell harder, her breath coming in short, desperate bursts as she shook her head, refusing to accept what was happening. "Don't say that, Daemon. Don't talk like that. You're going to live. You have to live."

But Daemon's eyes were already closing, his body trembling as the blood loss took its toll. His breath slowed, the world around him fading as the coldness crept further into his bones.

"Yun-Jin…" Daemon whispered, his voice barely audible. "Tell Ty… he's a lucky bastard."
