From Scrap Mecha to Sci-Fi Heaven

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Mech Lü Bu

"Forget it, let's just go back and try again, we have to get down to business first."

Not yet accustomed to having fits in front of others, Lin Yu quickly exited the personality simulation state and returned to the matter at hand.

His gaze fell once more on Rupert.

Due to the earlier fit, combined with being tightly bound and having a gun pressed against his chin, Lin Yu's gaze was evidently quite oppressive to Rupert, making him shift uncomfortably.

"It's time to get back to business. You still haven't answered my question. Where is your headquarters located?"

Lin Yu asked calmly.

"I don't know. I'm just the liaison; every shipment has a dedicated escort team."

After losing the last bit of his security with the defense system, Rupert's attitude noticeably improved. He took a deep breath and said in a calm tone:

"I don't know if you've suddenly had a change of heart or if you're just having a fit, but I advise you, you can't possibly be a match for the organization. Don't even mention the headquarters; you wouldn't be able to handle the escort team.

Tomorrow, the higher-ups will send the escort team over. Those people are all battle-hardened, equipped with advanced weaponry, and many are even cybernetic enhancements. You, let alone, wouldn't stand a chance against the armed forces of Black Serpent Camp.

If you let me go, I can give you a sum of money…"

"The escort team must know the location of the base, right? My medicine is with them, too?"

Lin Yu ignored Rupert's ramblings and directly extracted the key information he was concerned about.

"You! Are you even listening to what I'm saying? Are you really insane?"

Rupert was incredulous: "It's not just the team picking up your shipment; it's the entire escort team responsible for this area. You still have a chance to run now, otherwise…"

He simply couldn't understand what kind of fit Lin Yu was having.

As the liaison who had cooperated for so long, he believed he understood Lin Yu better than anyone else.

After all, even the most despicable person wouldn't want to reveal their true self in front of those close to them.

But he knew all too well what kind of person Lin Yu was.

A scoundrel who had only been in it for the money, collaborating with him since he was sixteen—what kind of bottom line or morals could one expect?

The result was that this scoundrel was now risking everything to confront the organization in order to retrieve the goods he had once sold off himself. From Rupert's perspective, it was utterly incomprehensible, both absurd and ironic.

What baffled him even more was where Lin Yu found such courage or confidence.

A human trafficker from a Wasteland gathering place, a battle-hardened mercenary—there was almost no comparison between the two.

Moreover, it wasn't just a single mercenary coming; it was the entire escort team responsible for this area.

Especially since many of them were cybernetic enhancers.

These individuals had undergone enhancements, with mechanical limbs, organs, smart chips, etc., making each one a monster with inhuman combat capabilities.

With just Lin Yu alone, he wouldn't even qualify to face the escort team.

As for trying to find the headquarters to rescue the goods that had already been taken away—that was even more of a delusion.

He didn't mind risking his own life, but his own life was also in Lin Yu's hands. In a desperate situation, a cornered dog would surely not hesitate to give himself a bullet.

"You…"

He wanted to say something more.

"Shut up."

Lin Yu casually picked up a report on the table, crumpled it into a ball, and stuffed it into Rupert's mouth.

It could almost be said that this guy, who was the mastermind behind the entire Black Serpent Camp's human trafficking operations, was not worth mourning.

However, when the escort team arrived, they would definitely contact this guy, and he might still be able to extract some information about the escort team from him, so for now, he would be kept alive.

"Lin… should we leave here and hide first, or…?"

Bai Wei, having listened to Rupert's words, was now somewhat worried.

She was indeed eager to save her sister, but she hadn't let her obsession cloud her judgment.

With just the two of them, facing a fully armed team seemed unrealistic.

If they could save her sister, that would be one thing, but throwing away their lives for nothing was clearly unwise.

Avoiding danger and plotting was the right course of action.

"Let's go back first."

Lin Yu shook his head slightly, continuing to hold the gun against Rupert's back as he led him back to his residence.

Upon returning, he stuffed the bound Rupert into the bathroom and locked the door, then sat down to continue pondering and experimenting with his newly acquired skills.

"I'm ready. When are we leaving?"

Bai Wei probably hadn't figured out how to face Lin Yu yet; she couldn't bring herself to call him 'Brother Lin' anymore, so her attitude was noticeably awkward when she came to talk to him.

"Leave? Where to?"

Lin Yu, focused on studying Mimic Personality, raised his head in confusion.

"Aren't we supposed to leave here first to avoid the escort team?"

Bai Wei was taken aback.

"How can we avoid them and still save your sister? Are we going to search for their base in the Wasteland like looking for a needle in a haystack?"

Lin Yu raised an eyebrow, rolling his eyes slightly before returning to his own research.

"You…"

This line of reasoning made Bai Wei's feelings even more complicated. She silently gazed at Lin Yu for a moment before turning around and returning to her room without saying anything.

After Bai Wei left, Lin Yu once again tried to enter the Mimic Personality state.

Still Lü Bu.

It seemed that as long as a personality had been mimicked, it formed a fixed template, allowing him to switch directly to that personality.

Since it was originally just a fictional construct based on his own understanding, Lin Yu didn't get hung up on the character's reputation or morals. Since it was useful, he was too lazy to change it.

"What a weak body; I really need to train hard…"

As soon as he switched personalities, the frail and insubstantial feeling made Lin Yu unconsciously frown.

Compared to the invincible 'self' he had imagined, this body, which might even be considered subhealthy among ordinary people, was clearly too weak.

Suppressing the discomfort that surged within him, he got up and walked toward the Mech workshop, intending to test his guesses about the utility of this skill.

Different personalities had entirely different philosophies and characteristics, which would naturally lead to different inspirations in design and creation. Perhaps it could make Dawn a bit more refined.

With the battle imminent, he had never truly controlled or tested his own creations in real combat, so he didn't have absolute confidence. Even a slight improvement would be beneficial.

Lü Bu, with the persona of the greatest general of the Three Kingdoms, naturally had no shortage of bravery and a pursuit of martial arts, which correspondingly meant better talents in combat and killing… at least better than his own lackluster skills.

Although he lacked the memories and experiences of the real Lü Bu, the personality of a good fighter combined with the extensive knowledge from his Level 4 Mech Engineering could still spark new ideas.

"The body is a bit bulky and clumsy, not agile enough; facing opponents of the same level, it's practically a live target…"

"It's a pity there's no bionic body; with just hydraulic power arms, it's hard to employ any combat techniques…"

Gazing quietly at DawnMech, he followed his instincts, and various thoughts surged forth. With a fresh perspective, he indeed found many new understandings and ideas.

However, it started off quite normally, but soon the train of thought began to veer off course.

"Where's my Fangtianhua halberd? I need to have my Fangtianhua halberd!"

"Diao Chan! Where's my Diao Chan? Oh, I'm designing a Mech…"

"I'm a cavalry general; how can I not have a mount? I can sacrifice some lower limb performance to enhance the upper limbs, and then add another mount…"

"Yes, a

mount, that's right, I need a… Dian Wei!"

"???"

"Stop! Stop! Why is Dian Wei popping up in my head? Shouldn't it be Red Hare?!"
