Chapter 5: In 8 Years
(~~8 Years Later~~)
The passage of time is relentless, and before long, the day arrived when Izashi and Rias were to receive their Evil Pieces.
This ceremony was a momentous event in the underworld, marking the moment when young devils of noble families were granted their Evil Pieces, allowing them to form their own peerages.
This system, created by Ajuka Beelzebub, was essential in rebuilding the devil population after the devastating Great War between the Satan and Anti-Satan factions.
Of course, Izashi had known about this for years, long before he even arrived in this world. He had been waiting patiently for this day, and now, as it finally arrived, he couldn't help but smile, knowing that the wait had been worth it.
On the day of the ceremony, Izashi found himself lounging on a plush sofa, idly chatting with a young girl his age.
This girl was none other than Akeno Himejima, who had been brought into the Gremory household under unusual circumstances.
Two years prior, during a time of great peril, when the Himejima Clan sought to extinguish her and her mother's lives, Izashi and Rias had chanced upon them and taken them in.
Since then, Akeno had grown quite close to Izashi, her affection for him evident in her every action. She clung to him, eager to be near him at all times. Izashi, of course, didn't mind.
In fact, he found her attachment to him quite useful, considering his future plans. He had every intention of making Akeno a part of his harem, and her growing closeness to him was only a step toward that goal.
However, it wasn't just Akeno who had developed feelings for Izashi over the years. Rias, too, had become increasingly attached to him.
Her affection had reached new heights, to the point where, from the age of seven, she had started sneaking into his bedroom to sleep next to him—naked, no less.
Though Izashi's body was still that of a child, his mind was that of a teenager, and he couldn't help but let his imagination run wild at times.
Despite the temptation, he managed to control himself, constantly reminding himself that the time wasn't right just yet.
Meanwhile, his training with Grayfia had progressed steadily. After awakening his Devil Magic, Grayfia had taken it upon herself to personally train him every morning.
Their training sessions lasted until the afternoon, after which he would return to the mansion, as Rias would throw a fit if he was gone for too long.
This routine continued for three years, and when Rias turned seven, their father, Zeoticus Gremory, requested that Grayfia train Rias alongside Izashi.
During these sessions, Izashi was careful not to reveal the full extent of his power. He knew that if his true strength were discovered, the Gremory family might become wary of him, which would hinder his future plans.
He wanted to remain under the radar, at least until he could achieve his objectives.
So, he limited the display of his abilities, only occasionally surprising Grayfia with a particularly impressive feat to keep her impressed but not overly cautious.
Rias, on the other hand, was showing great promise in her control of the Power of Destruction, a bloodline ability inherited from the Bael family.
Her approach to using this power was straightforward—she would charge up a massive ball of destructive energy and hurl it at her target, annihilating anything in its path.
While effective, this method had its drawbacks, particularly the time it took to charge the attack.
One day, as they were training together, Izashi watched her prepare another attack and couldn't help but point out the flaw in her strategy. "Rias-chan, doesn't it take too long to charge up your power? What will you do if the enemy attacks you while you're preparing your move?"
Rias's expression faltered. She knew he was right, but she tried to brush off her concerns with a forced smile. "Don't worry, Izashi-kun. I'll figure something out."
Izashi saw the worry in her eyes and decided to reassure her. "Don't worry, Rias-chan. I promise I'll always protect you. You'll never have to worry about something like that."
His words brought a blush to Rias's cheeks, and she smiled brightly, her earlier worries forgotten.
"Aww… Izashi-kun is so sweet to me. Okay then, I'll leave my protection in your capable hands," she said, playfully tackling him into a hug. Grayfia, who had been observing their interaction, allowed a faint smile to grace her usually stern features.
Izashi had become quite adept at delivering these little lines to Rias, knowing exactly how to keep her happy and devoted to him. He employed similar tactics with Akeno when Rias wasn't around, ensuring that both girls remained close to him.
For Akeno, Izashi had become her first true friend at the Gremory household. When she and her mother had first arrived, she had been frightened and distrustful of the devils around her, fearing they would kill her as soon as they discovered her fallen angel heritage.
But Izashi had been kind to her from the start, treating her with warmth and understanding.
His gentle smile and easy-going nature had quickly won her over, and before long, she found herself wanting to be by his side more and more.
As the years passed, Akeno started to learn the skills necessary to become a Queen in a devil's peerage. She also studied magic under Grayfia's guidance, although Grayfia was initially reluctant to take on another student.
However, a few words from Izashi had convinced her to allow Akeno to join their training sessions. Even though they trained together, their lessons were vastly different.
While Rias and Izashi focused on mastering the Power of Destruction, Akeno learned elemental magic, a field that suited her abilities.
Izashi quickly discovered that his mastery of the Power of Destruction was far beyond what he had expected. He could channel the destructive energy not only into attacks but also into enhancing his physical abilities, allowing him to destroy anything he touched.
His control over this power grew rapidly, and before long, he could create a Ball of Destruction with far greater potency and control than Rias. He could also manipulate the size and intensity of the destructive energy at will, a feat that impressed even Grayfia.
One day, as he stood alone in the training room, Izashi reflected on his progress. 'In terms of devil standards, my true power with just the Power of Destruction is already at the level of an Ultimate-Class Devil,' he thought to himself. 'Rias is at the peak of a Low-Class Devil, and Akeno is around the same level. But this power still isn't enough to defeat Sirzechs.'
A disappointed sigh escaped his lips as he contemplated his limitations. 'If only I could awaken my Dragon Magic… but it looks like that won't happen before I go to Kuoh. Maybe if I ask Rias to keep it a secret, she'll do it for me.'
Izashi knew that Rias's affection for him was so strong that she would likely do anything he asked, even defy her parents if necessary. And he fully intended to use that to his advantage when the time was right. Akeno, too, had developed deep feelings for him over the years, and their bond had grown stronger with each passing day.
Despite this, Izashi had not yet confronted Akeno about her fallen angel blood. He knew it was a sensitive topic for her, something she feared would lead to rejection or worse.
Since she had never brought it up, he decided it was best not to press the issue, respecting her boundaries. After all, she hadn't even confided in Rias about it, despite their close friendship.
Akeno had expressed her desire to become his Queen, but Izashi had always given her the same response: "I don't mind if you become a Queen, but I would be even happier if you became Rias-chan's Queen. Wouldn't you?"
Though puzzled by his reasoning, Akeno couldn't refuse when he asked her with such an expectant look on his face.
She agreed, though she couldn't help but wonder why he preferred her to be Rias's Queen rather than his own. Despite her curiosity, she chose not to dwell on it, content to continue spending time with him.
Finally, the day arrived when they were to receive their Evil Pieces. The anticipation was palpable, and the ceremony was set to be an unforgettable event.
The grand hall was filled with nobles and dignitaries, all eager to witness the crowning of the next generation of devils. Among the guests was a young girl who, on the surface, appeared to be just another spectator.
However, Izashi recognized her immediately. She was Serafall Leviathan, one of the Four Maou.
It wasn't every day that a Maou graced such an occasion with their presence, and the fact that she was here made it clear just how significant this event was.
As Serafall's gaze fell upon Izashi, her eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing her face as if she couldn't quite believe what she was seeing.
The ceremony was about to begin, and Izashi knew that this was just the beginning of his journey to power and domination in the underworld.
