Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Living Together with Furina
Huh?
Wait, what did I just say? Furina's face grew even hotter.
"Take me too..." That sounded like... no, no, no, no, it wasn't a confession at all!
But... maybe it was a confession?
No, never mind!
Either way, she would never let Luna leave her side.
Even Luna hadn't expected Furina to say something like that.
She had already taken Furina's heart...
And now Furina wanted her to take... everything else too?
Luna's cheeks flushed slightly. "Furina, your words are quite surprising. Am I to take that as a confession?"
Furina didn't respond, simply continuing to lean against Luna in silence.
She was too embarrassed to speak.
"Furina? If you don't say something, I won't know what you mean."
That girl... A surge of irritation filled Furina's heart.
"Don't act like you don't know!" she whispered. "Anyway, that's how it is. I want you to take responsibility for your past words and actions."
Blame my past self for this.
Luna embraced Furina, gently tugging at a strand of her hair as if lost in thought.
Silence only heightened the tension. Furina pressed her lips together, hoping for a quick answer.
But if it was a rejection... what then?
"I never imagined someone would say something like that to me."
"Really?"
"I have no reason to lie to you, at least not about this."
Furina puffed out her cheeks. "I hope you won't lie to me about anything else either."
"I can't guarantee that," Luna said. "After all, I might tell a little white lie to get Furina to eat something nutritious that she doesn't like."
"I'm not a picky eater," Furina murmured.
"Wow, that's great!" Luna smiled warmly and ruffled Furina's hair.
I know, Furina thought. But could you stop treating me like a child?
Luna fell silent again.
If I've captured Furina's heart, how do I claim her entirely?
"Are you suggesting you want to marry me?" Luna asked.
Marry?!
"No! Of course not!" Furina blurted out. "I didn't mean that! I just—"
"Just?"
"...I just want to see you often," she whispered, her voice trailing off.
I see. If that's how you feel, Luna thought, I have an idea.
"I heard you moved into an apartment?" she asked.
"Yeah."
If I'm no longer the Hydro Archon, why would I stay at Palais Mermonia?
Besides, she had never used her position for personal gain, so there was nothing to adjust to.
It was just a change of scenery.
"How are you settling in?" Luna asked.
"Why do you ask? It's fine, nothing special..." Furina replied.
Truth be told, she hadn't paid much attention to her surroundings. At the time, all she wanted was to escape that familiar place, so full of painful memories. Anywhere would have done.
"Living alone?"
"Of course I'm living alone! Why do you keep asking about my living situation?"
What is she trying to get at?
Luna cupped Furina's face in her hands, her expression softening into a warm smile. "Lady Furina, I'm just wondering... would you like to live with me?"
Furina's face was being squeezed, pressed, and rubbed, yet she showed no sign of displeasure.
"Live?" she blinked.
"Live."
"You mean you want to move into my apartment?"
Luna shook her head. "I have my own place. Why would I move into yours? What I mean is..."
She pulled out her keys and jingled them in front of Furina's eyes.
"Why don't you come to my place?"
"...You know, acting like this could get you questioned by the Maison Gardiennage," Furina warned.
It felt like a wicked woman trying to lure an innocent young girl into her lair.
Luna chuckled softly. "So, you're not coming, then?"
"...I'll come," Furina whispered, her voice barely audible.
-
"Lady Furina, you're back, hmm?"
The apartment manager smiled as he saw Furina return, but his expression shifted slightly when he noticed the woman accompanying her.
"You're Miss Luna?"
Luna snapped her fingers. "Correct! I'm here to help Furina move her belongings and terminate her lease."
Furina's face flushed crimson. "Don't be so blunt," she whispered.
"Hmm? I don't believe I misspoke."
Well, technically she's right...
Friends helping each other move was perfectly normal, but this arrangement made Furina feel like the odd one out.
The manager scratched his head. "Is there something wrong with the apartment?"
"No," Furina replied.
"Then why are you terminating the lease...?"
Luna simply smiled enigmatically.
"Uh, I'll process the paperwork right away!" Realizing he'd pried too much, the manager nodded frantically, sweat beading on his forehead.
"Excellent. Curiosity killed the cat, you know."
"Indeed!"
After completing the formalities with surprising speed, Luna followed Furina to Furina's room.
Furina's luggage was minimal, but it was all piled in a corner. The room contained only essential furniture, making it feel starkly empty.
At least it's easy to clean, she thought.
Furina stuffed her pillow into the suitcase, crammed in a few daily necessities, and made no attempt to organize anything. I'll just have to take it all out again later anyway.
"All packed," she announced.
Luna snapped her fingers, and Furina's luggage vanished into her Storage Space.
"So convenient," Furina remarked.
"Indeed. I keep all my treasures in there too."
Luna scanned the room. "Anything else we're forgetting?"
"No... Oh!"
A white corner peeked out from under the blanket. Furina swiftly yanked it out.
As expected, it was Luna's mask.
Furina immediately hid it on her person. If Luna found it, she'd undoubtedly tease her relentlessly—especially after Furina had so vehemently declared she didn't need such a thing.
"I see it," Luna said.
"Huh? S-see what?" Furina stammered, her voice betraying her guilt.
"What could it be?" Luna smirked knowingly and turned away.
Furina's ears burned as she hurried after Luna, protesting, "It just fell onto my bed! I didn't take it out myself."
"You know the saying, 'Explaining is just making excuses,'" Luna remarked.
"Then I won't explain."
"And not explaining confirms the truth," Luna countered.
Furina sighed in exasperation. "So either way, I'm wrong?"
"Still, I'm delighted to see how much you cherish my first mask," Luna chuckled softly.
Furina averted her gaze, tempted to explain. But the thought died before it could fully form. After all, as Luna had said, an explanation would only highlight her embarrassment.
"Is your house far from here?" Furina asked.
"Not very," Luna replied.
Furina nodded in understanding. Stealing a glance at Luna, she asked, "Are you sure it's okay for me to stay at your place?"
"If there were any issues, I wouldn't have invited you. Don't worry, my house isn't huge, but it's more than enough for two people to live comfortably."
"That's good to hear."
Living with Luna...
This could be really nice, Furina thought, feeling a surge of anticipation.
Wait a minute!
A critical question suddenly struck her.
Living with Luna meant she could be teased at any moment—or even have things done to her.
"You wouldn't actually do anything to me, would you?" Furina blurted out anxiously.
"That depends on how you define 'anything'," Luna replied with a sly smile.
Is this really okay? Furina's anxiety resurfaced.
Luna nudged her with her shoulder. "Or are you having second thoughts?"
"I didn't say that."
"So, you're saying you're okay with me doing... anything to you?"
Furina's eyes widened. "Don't twist my words! When did I ever say that?!"
But knowing exactly what Luna was like, choosing to live with her...
In a way, that was kind of agreeing, wasn't it?
-
Note-History would say they were "Roommates."
