Furina, Please Let Me Steal Your Heart!

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: A White Cat's New Home

Chevreuse ignored the blatant coquetry.

Whether Luna's words were true or not, she had no interest in them.

"Why did you deliberately 'reveal' yourself?"

"What do you mean?" Luna asked, swinging her legs back and forth with a light chuckle.

Chevreuse crossed her arms, her voice icy. "Don't play dumb. Isn't the face you showed Navia a fake?"

"So you've already figured it out, huh? Impressive, as expected from the Maison Gardiennage." Luna stood up and took a step forward. Despite falling several feet, she landed softly as if the world's gravity no longer bound her. Luna placed her hand over her face.

"Don't blink."

Then she gently removed her mask.

As expected, what appeared before Chevreuse was another unfamiliar face. She lifted her hand, concealing her own appearance.

A shudder.

Clank clank! Luna had changed to a new visage again, yet that familiar smile remained unchanged.

The ability to transform one's appearance at any given moment.

Why was this girl becoming increasingly complicated? Was it because she hadn't displayed her full capabilities and power previously? Chevreuse's expression remained calm, but ripples of thought spread across her mind.

"You don't seem surprised at all, Captain."

"...Do you do this just to mock the Court of Justice?" Chevreuse asked, her voice taut with accusation.

Luna replaced her mask.

"Do you think I'm that bored?"

"Yes."

Her hesitation was measured in mere fractions of a second.

Luna sighed. "The bias against me is truly overwhelming. It's not as if I have nothing better to do than tease you."

As the slender fingertips were about to brush against Chevreuse's hair, Chevreuse swiftly grabbed her wrist and snapped on a silver bracelet.

"You're under arrest."

There was not a hint of hesitation.

Chevreuse made no attempt to justify her ambush, her voice cool and measured as she declared the result.

Luna smiled. "Your justice has indeed captured my heart, Miss Chevreuse, but—"

Click.

The handcuffs fell to the ground.

Luna waved the small key in her hand—the very same key that Chevreuse always carried with her.

"It'll take more than that to catch me."

When... Chevreuse narrowed her eyes, staring at the handcuff key.

She hadn't even noticed Luna's movement.

It was as if the key had flown into Luna's pocket by itself.

"Here you go."

Luna casually tossed the key back. Chevreuse caught it with a flick of her wrist and silently slipped it into her own pocket.

...Wait.

Chevreuse's fingers curled around the key, feeling no trace of others.

"You..."

Luna turned away, jangling the ring of keys from Chevreuse's pocket. "Let's discuss the rest in your dorm room, okay?"

Chevreuse felt a throbbing pain in her head. She realized that she couldn't afford to let her guard down around Luna for even a second. Heaven only knew what mischief the girl would get up to if her eyes were diverted for just a moment.

"I'd rather we talk at your place," Chevreuse said.

"That's why I brought your keys." Luna smiled sweetly. "From now on, your home is my home too. How does that sound?"

"Don't go stealing other people's rooms, you thieving cat."

Chevreuse strode up and snatched the ring of keys from her hand, roughly stuffed them into her pocket, picked up the handcuffs from the floor, and walked away without a backward glance.

After going only a short distance, Chevreuse sighed deeply and said, "Follow along. If we're seen, you'll have to take responsibility."

"I think it's Miss Captain who needs to take responsibility, secretly taking a young, beautiful girl to her bedroom in the middle of the night."

Chevreuse snorted lightly. "You don't count as a person."

"That's so mean."

Chevreuse turned back to look, but Luna's figure had disappeared at some point.

"I'm following, don't keep looking back." ...and yet, her voice could still be heard.

Is this like letting a wolf into one's house?

Who knew? Chevreuse only felt that even if she hadn't done this, there would be a day when she'd see the White Cat Phantom Thief in her own room.

Ignoring the law, but also somehow looking forward to the Special Task Force executing justice and the law.

...It was probably best not to worry about her.

Chevreuse sighed to herself and walked back to the Special Task Force dormitory.

Because the Special Task Force could be called out on emergencies, the members basically all lived in the dormitory. She was no exception.

"Hey, Captain, good evening! Want some noodles?"

In the cafeteria, the team members were huddled together, slurping noodles. The meals provided were far from delicious, so they occasionally gathered to indulge in something more satisfying.

Chevreuse suddenly felt nervous; it had been a long time since she experienced this sensation, but she knew exactly why.

I'm bringing the Phantom Thief back to my room... Ahh...

Beside her anxiety, she also felt a headache coming on—perhaps she'd need to buy some painkillers later.

Chevreuse shook her head. "I'll pass on dinner. Don't eat too much tonight."

"Sure thing~"

As they ascended the stairs and reached Chevreuse's bedroom door, she pulled out her key.

Maybe I'm about to do something foolish.

Chevreuse paused for a moment before murmuring, "But being too 'clever' doesn't allow one to stand up for justice."

She turned the key, unlocking the door.

"Enter."

Suddenly, Luna appeared, remarking, "Your words make it sound like I'm going to prison. You wouldn't possibly want to lock me in your bedroom, would you?"

"If you say much more, I might just consider it."

Luna stepped into the room, Chevreuse followed closely behind, quickly closing and locking the door behind her.

Click.

Luna heard the sound of the lock but paid no mind, instead observing Chevreuse's bedroom with keen interest.

"It really doesn't feel very feminine in here."

"That's right, there's no treasure you're after here. Don't look around everywhere or touch anything."

Simple furnishings, along with some cozy little decorations, created an aesthetic reminiscent of a hardworking office drone's living space. However, the various papers piled on the table, and the boards scattered throughout the room... all made Luna feel a sense of warmth and familiarity.

It was almost like coming home.

"What's this?" Luna approached one of the boards.

Similar to her own information board at home, it was covered with assorted clues. Next to it, a blackboard displayed what appeared to be a mind map, clearly intended for organizing thoughts.

"As you can see, it's an intelligence board."

"Hmm... And what about this?" She picked up the clothes draped over the chair back.

"Sleeping attire."

Luna hesitated... "Um... can I take these with me?"

Chevreuse's gaze was sharp enough to pierce through a soul.

"I'm joking."

"...Alright then, spill it already, oh great Phantom Thief White Cat."

Luna smiled. "May I have a cup of coffee?"

Chevreuse shot her a look.

"Of course."

Chevreuse casually brewed a cup of coffee and handed it to Luna.

Of course, she hadn't added anything to it; she wanted to apprehend the Phantom Thief and would use unconventional methods in her investigation. But that didn't mean she had no bottom line.

Besides, she needed the Phantom Thief to explain everything clearly.

Luna cradled the coffee, choosing to sit on Chevreuse's bed. Naturally, this raised Chevreuse's eyebrow, her gaze turning slightly hostile.

But Luna, of course, didn't care.

She blew on the coffee, then took a small sip.

"Very bitter."

"That's the taste you'll experience after coming to Meropide. Best to get used to it early," Luna said with a smile. "Shouldn't a host be more hospitable to their guest?"

As she spoke, she pinched the rim of the cup with two fingers, wiping away the lip mark she left.

So it really didn't leave any traces. Chevreuse thought.

But she had never expected to capture the Phantom Thief White Cat with such ordinary means.

"You're not a guest."

"I feel like I am one."

Chevreuse drew a breath, enduring her frustration.

She couldn't be drawn into the thief's game.
