Game Creator in a New World

Chapter 3: Learning about the system

"System, tell me about your function."

After learning about the game situation in this world, John took a sip to calm his excitement and remembered that he hadn't yet explored his golden finger.

"Ding~ Answering the host: the function of this system is to help the host design virtual games."

"...Well, thats really simple and straightforward huh." A black line appeared on John's forehead.

"The name of the system is Virtual Game Design System. I already know your role, but how do I use it?"

"The host can enter the virtual space of the system by saying the word 'Enter'."

"Enter."

John had no doubts and followed the system's novice guidance.

In the next moment, he felt the scene around him change. The room disappeared, replaced by a pure white space. He couldn't see how vast it was or where the boundaries lay. He couldn't even feel the ground with his feet, just endless white enveloping him.

In this pure white space, countless strange, symbol-like creatures floated around. As soon as John entered, they immediately surrounded him. He had an instinctive sense of control over everything in this space. Subconsciously, he wanted to move, and his body followed his thoughts. Like loyal guards, the symbol-like creatures parted to make way for him.

"This... is interesting."

"Ding~ The novice gift pack has been obtained!"

The system's voice echoed in John's ear. The surrounding symbols suddenly became agitated, arranging themselves in a strange order before him. A flash of light and a gift pack appeared.

"Gift pack for beginners?"

John hadn't expected this surprise. Systems with novice gift packs are rare. Some systems he read about before didn't even mention novice gift packs. He looked at the mysterious symbols around him a bit more, seeming to understand how virtual games were designed.

Without delay, he flew forward and opened the gift pack. Inside were two balls of light. He reached out to touch one, and a voice sounded again:

"Ding~ Acquired the ability to design virtual games!"

"Virtual game design ability?"

John murmured as the ball of light melted into him. He soon realized that this ability allowed him to control these mysterious symbols to form items and rules.

These symbols were the foundation of the virtual world, the codes that composed it. Without rushing to try it out, John touched the second light ball.

"Ding~ Acquired 1,000 points."

"Points? System, what's their use?"

"Points can be used to redeem materials needed for game design. More functions will be unlocked as the host progresses."

"Exchange game items?"

John was momentarily stunned but quickly understood. Designing virtual games requires complete information as a foundation, especially for a virtual world. Even with ideas from his past life, he couldn't guarantee completeness.

A virtual screen appeared, showing John's current personal information.

John

Ability: Introduction to virtual game design

Items: None

Tasks: None

Points: 1000

The simple information showed that he was a proper rookie, with his only ability given by the novice gift pack. This golden finger was critical.

John previously felt that it would be easy for him to make virtual games in this world, but if it was that easy to make virtual games, then everyone would be making games right now to make money. Reality is often disappointing, john sighed to himself and continued looking at the system panel in front of him.

Virtual game design ability:

Beginner: 1,000 points

Proficient: 10,000 points

Master: 100,000 points

The ability to design virtual games was foundational. With three levels akin to junior high, high school, and university, many things couldn't be designed without sufficient ability. His current beginner-level skill wasn't enough for complex virtual worlds.

"One thousand points... it's a bit difficult."

John smiled helplessly and raised his arms. As his fingers moved, the symbolic codes in the space gathered into various shapes, forming everyday items like tables, chairs, and computers.

This was the ability he just acquired. In this virtual space, he was the creator, able to design virtual games, though the creations couldn't exist outside the virtual realm. After playing for a while, he made everything disappear with a thought. Designed items were like saved files, reusable later without re-creation.

"From today onward, I will become a glorious virtual game designer!"

A smile crept onto John's face, his eyes full of excitement and confidence.
