Game of Dragonborn.

Chapter 59: Chapter 59 - You Must Decide If You Want My Help.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Essos.

...

...

"So, you were in Braavos after leaving Dragonstone…" Jon commented. He knew that his uncle and his newborn aunt had escaped Westeros and gone to Essos, but he didn't know the details. Now he could gather some information from the timid girl in front of him.

"Yes… we stayed there for a while, until Ser Willem Darry died…" she murmured, looking down at Jon with fear still present in her gaze.

It was strange how the entire place seemed silent, and if this stranger claiming to be her relative was an assassin, as she feared, she hoped the guards would enter the room.

"I know you're afraid…" Jon said, seeing the girl's discomfort. "I will listen to your story and then leave." He spoke finally, realizing that he wouldn't be able to have a conversation with her otherwise.

"All right…" She trembled slightly upon hearing this from him, as if he could read her mind. But she didn't realize how easy it was for Jon to read her behavior as she kept glancing constantly at the door.

"First, eat the fruit… it won't harm you as you imagine. After all, if I wanted to do that, I wouldn't bother preparing poison." Jon mocked as she nodded reluctantly and eventually obeyed, taking the grapes, clearly giving in to her hunger.

"That's good… now you can continue about your life after your guardian died until you reached Pentos?" Jon continued, satisfied that she had finally touched the food after noticing how hungry she was.

"Yes… we had a hard time after that… since we were robbed by the servants of the house… living as beggars." Daenerys continued, recounting her experience in Braavos, how she and Viserys became beggars. He had even sold Jon's grandmother's crown to survive, while assassins began to pursue them constantly.

Viserys sought support from other people and managed to get some at first, but everyone eventually abandoned them after getting to know him. His personality wasn't very good even then, and it made their lives much more difficult, until they found their final sponsor, this Illyrio of Pentos.

"I understand… you've been through a lot. But I see this marriage as something very bad… after all, Dothraki hardly cross the sea… You'll just become a khaleesi and spend the rest of your life in the desert… Is that what you expect? To bear children for barbaric men while they raid villages and cities?" Jon asked.

"…" Daenerys didn't respond at first to Jon's conclusion, though she managed to hold his gaze, showing a hint of anger at his words, which were clearly offensive.

"Viserys will take the throne…" she said, but couldn't maintain much courage when she saw Jon looking at her calmly. That gaze managed to instill some fear in Daenerys.

"Yes… your brother is intelligent enough to marry his own sister to barbarians for a promise that has no precedent… after all, the Dothraki fear the sea…" Jon mocked before standing up, seeing that he couldn't talk to her any further in this way. Daenerys looked surprised as he moved to leave.

"Anyway… you can eat the rest. It's just light food. If you fear angering your brother, I don't think you'll get fat from a few grapes… Either way, I have one last proposal for you." Jon said while the girl remained silent.

"I won't try to convince you to come with me… because that's not how I act. Still, you're my aunt. Your brother is not someone I intend to help after what I've seen… but you can get out of this situation." Jon commented, and he was interrupted by the girl with a slightly nervous voice.

"What do you mean by that?" she asked.

"I'm saying I can help you avoid this marriage, and this may be your last chance. But I'll let you think about it. After all, I won't force you. Tomorrow, I will appear at your wedding with a gift. If you want me to get you out of there, use the word… let's see… Dragonborn. Say Dragonborn as soon as I appear. I will challenge the Khal before your marriage is concluded and kill him," Jon said.

"You will challenge him? But he's Khal Drogo… I heard he is extremely powerful…" she murmured, unable to look him in the eyes.

"That's because you don't know me…" Jon smiled.

"How did you find us…?" After hearing that, and after a few seconds of silence, she asked curiously. After all, her location shouldn't have been easy to find; even the assassins hadn't managed it.

"I was in Winterfell until this morning. I met the King of Westeros and my 'beloved' uncle in the last few days," Jon ironized the last part.

"You met him?" Daenerys looked at him in surprise upon hearing that.

"Not in the way you imagine… I'm going to take revenge on him as well, but I wanted to see him…" Jon spoke before his face turned more serious. "But he isn't the only one… It seems that this Illyrio has ended up using you in some power game. After all, he knows very well the consequences of marrying a Dothraki," Jon said.

"What are you going to do?" Daenerys looked a little frightened upon hearing that.

"I intend to kill him… but I will be nearby to protect you. That is until I give you a gift, because after you refuse my help and think that your brother's path is better, I won't interfere in your life anymore," Jon said.

"And Viserys… what will happen to him?" Daenerys was a little concerned upon hearing that he planned to kill Illyrio.

"I don't intend to help him. I've already seen what kind of person he is, and I have no desire to assist him, but I won't kill him. I'll leave him to deal with his own circumstances…" Jon said.

"And why are you helping me then…?" she asked again, not understanding why the stranger claiming to be her relative wanted to help her.

'Because I want you to take the Iron Throne…' Jon thought and continued. "Because it would be good for our family not to be destroyed in the middle of the desert…" Jon said at last. It was still an opportunity for her to have a better life than this.

"…" She fell silent after that, and Jon simply began to leave the room, heading for the door. Daenerys was relieved that nothing had happened to her as her gaze settled on Jon's back moving away. That made her think of something she had overlooked.

"You said you were in Winterfell today…? How is that possible?" she asked, stunned. She knew Winterfell was the Stark stronghold and should be thousands of miles away.

"Simple, by traveling very quickly through the sky…" Jon paused to answer her with a smile. His dragon could reach 200 to 400 kilometers per hour in the sky. So traveling more than 2 to 3 thousand kilometers during an entire day wasn't that difficult. "And what does that mean…" Jon continued, looking at her. "It means that I have a dragon."

With that, he opened the door and left, closing it behind him.

"…" Daenerys remained silent, not knowing what to say after what she had heard. Even so, Jon, or rather, as he introduced himself, Daemon Targaryen, was no longer there, leaving her alone with her thoughts.

"I want everything organized for tomorrow. Are we understood?" Illyrio spoke to the head of the guard and a servant who were organizing things alongside the Dothraki for the wedding.

Both left while he remained alone in his solar, with some trade documents spread out on his table, but mainly a few letters from his contacts in Westeros. He waited for the two to leave before beginning to write a letter.

'The plan is all set. Soon the Targaryen girl will be destined to go to the desert, and Viserys will accompany her. I just don't know if he will last long after that. Either way, the Targaryens are out of this game,' he wrote calmly.

"I see… you have a few people working for you in Westeros…" a voice suddenly appeared. Illyrio looked up, startled, to find a man with violet eyes staring at the paper written in his hand.

"Who…" He barely had time to react before feeling his body being lifted, slamming against the wall behind his desk with force, unable to understand what was happening, letting out a dazed groan.

Jon had raised one hand to throw him with telekinesis and took the small parchment letter with the other. "I think I'll take this…" Jon spoke calmly, pocketing the paper.

"Who are you?! Guards!!" Illyrio was a little dizzy, but as soon as he recovered, he found himself suspended some distance from the ground, being pressed against the wall by something he couldn't understand. He saw the stranger standing in front of his desk. His first thought was to shout for the Unsullied, who were supposed to be guarding his door.

"You can scream all you want… they won't come to you…" Jon mocked, pressing him further, making Illyrio let out a groan of pain.

"Who are you…" For the third time, the question was asked, and fear filled Illyrio's eyes, not understanding what was happening as the stranger raised his hand, seemingly creating this force.

"If you want to know so badly… I am Daemon Targaryen, son of the she-wolf of the North… and I'm here to understand why you want to get rid of the Targaryens…" Jon said.

"What…?!" Illyrio murmured and felt his body being crushed even more.

"Worry about answering my question," Jon mocked, increasing the pressure.

"You… this is impossible…" The man ignored the pressure to say that to Jon.

"Whatever… You're trying to get rid of the siblings, aren't you?" Jon asked once more.

"That's not true. Viserys wanted an army to conquer Westeros, and I gave him the opportunity…" he murmured with some difficulty.

"Do you really want to lie here? Isn't it a bit too late after I read what's written in this letter?" Jon said, while Illyrio fell silent, not knowing what to say. His fear of the stranger and the situation was the only thing left in his eyes.

"You know what? I don't care anymore about your motives. In the end, it won't change anything." Jon decided this was a waste of time and that he would deal with this man coldly. After all, he had already made up his mind to do so.

Jon was arrogant. He didn't care about whatever plans his enemies had against him, whether in terms of strength or otherwise. Politics, however, was something he hated, and he dealt with his enemies there the same way he would on a battlefield.

Jon watched as the man began to turn pale, feeling his life slip away in the next moment.

"Wait!" Illyrio exclaimed, but Jon had already closed his fist. In the next instant, Illyrio didn't even have time to react as his neck snapped, his head twisting with the power of telekinesis. A sharp sound echoed through the room, followed by the thud of the body collapsing to the floor, motionless.

"Should I burn the place?" Jon murmured, not caring about Illyrio anymore. But he thought that would be somewhat reckless. "No… I think it's better not to. The wedding will happen anyway. I'll wait for Daenerys' answer."

Jon shrugged, grabbed all the documents Illyrio had and stored them in his dimensional space. Then, he left the room without looking back, heading for the personal vault of the place—after all, it would be a waste not to seize the gold after taking down this man.

Daenerys was lying awake in her bed. While she was trying to sleep, she heard someone knocking on the door. She immediately got up, expecting someone to enter, but what she saw was a small letter being slid underneath the door. With nothing else to do, she walked over to it.

She bent down, picked up the parchment, and opened it. Her heart raced as she realized it was the same letter Illyrio had been writing to his mysterious contact in Westeros, treating her and her brother like pieces in a game, players now removed from the board.

Raccoon Here: I won't have Jon take the dragon eggs. After all, he is the Dragonborn, and it would be a waste for him not to be able to use the dragon-slayer power without having a dragon as an enemy.
