Chapter 26: Chapter-169
Holy shit
Jay-jay's POV
Our province is simple. Some parts are residential and some parts are mountainous. Unlike the city where cars are close together, walking or cycling is more popular here. When I thought about it---- based on what I remember---- we only had a few neighbors. Mama and I's house was unï¬nished. It had a room or me and Mama. There was a big tree near us, I often climbed up there with Aries. When the incident I don't remember happened, it was said. After coming back from the hospital, I moved in with Grandma. It was a bigger house, old and looked like a Spanish house but it was sturdy. I was put in a public school but my student life there wasn't good. I was always getting into ï¬ghts so I was transferred to a private one. They thought----and I thought too----I would do well at Holy Saints. I became famous, not because of my beauty. But because I always get into ï¬ghts. I don't have any friends, my other classmates are afraid of me, others are plastic because they have beneï¬ts for me. I think I go to the Guidance office every day. They also call Grandma every day but when she got bored, she sent Brother Angelo to go. Even though he was in the city, he would come home to us just to go to school. That's when I was scared of him! Until Cyrus came, he flirted with me even though it was obvious that we didn't like each other. He just used my popularity. Because I had nothing to do, I answered him and I didn't know that that was the root of the problem. He's crazy! He replaced me on the throne. The school became a hotbed and I felt like I was the best .Until something unexpected happened. I accidentally hurt her. Grandma had a heart attack and almost died. That was also the reason why Aunt and I took me. I left all the painful memories behind in this province. I didn't know that I would be coming back here right away. Right away? I would have liked the ones 3-5 years later. "Near the camping site..." Sir Alvin announced on the microphone inside the bus. The other sleepers woke up and stretched. Some yawned and planned to go back to sleep. It's a good thing we have our own bus. We thought we would be squeezed into another section again. I don't like that! I looked at the seat opposite me. Keifer was staring at me but I just looked away. I still felt bad for them. But that wasn't the real reason I avoided them. We were still in school, I couldn't be bothered until we got to the province. I didn't want them to notice that so I avoided them. I also chose to sit at the end where it's far from others. I can see the places I used to go. We've reached the forested area. We entered an old gate with Camp is Rock written on it. Huh?! Doesn't the manager here have any originality? Just remove the 'is', it's the same title as the movie I watched. The bus stopped and we all got off with our stuff. I think our organizer planned a nature trip. I've been to this place before but it's not developed yet. We just made it a hangout and we drank here. That's why the landowner asked us to leave, he said there were a lot of snakes here. Could there still be snakes here? As I expected, the arrogance of our batchmates came out. Who would be so stupid to go to a retreat wearing heels? Freya! She's so Gaga. Her heels were so high, she thought we were going to the mall. She was so cute! "Here we go!" The organizer told us with a megaphone. We arrived in front of a hall. By section of the line and from our place, I saw Aries looking at me. I knew he knew that I was not happy to go home to the province. The organizer said something and explained. I didn't understand because I was thinking differently. "...You will see each flag of your Section and that will be your camping site." He added and signaled for us to move. None of us Ulopongs moved. We didn't have the desire to ï¬nd our camping site. "Where is ours?" Blaster asked. David pointed to a road that was separate from the others. Suddenly I was shocked. Because the road to our camping site was different. Even those who didn't have the desire----whom I was leading----we insisted on going to our camping site. That's how disappointed we were when we saw the place. The dirt! The mess! And it seemed like no one was camping here! Aliens?! Not far away, tall grass could be seen. My child... What if there were snakes there? "We are really here?" Felix asked while kicking the burnt can on the floor. "...is the organizer angry with us?" I wanted to ask that too. It's like we weren't really included in this retreat. That's why Rory and I charged because we weren't included in the budget. "Our place seems small?" Eman said while walking around. I rolled my eyes. He was right! It's small for 17 people who will set up one tent each. The organizer is angry with us! "We're here... There's nothing we can do." Denzel said and tried to clean up one part. "...let's just ï¬x the things." The others imitated what he was doing. They ï¬rst put down their belongings and set up the tent. I was about to put my tent next to Ci-N's tent but suddenly someone took my bag. "Hey!" I shouted at Keifer. He suddenly put down my bag and quickly opened it. He also took the parts of the tent and tried to attach it. "What are you doing?" I asked annoyed. "Doing laundry." He replied sarcastically. "...are you blind?" I scratched my head in annoyance. This King is so busy! I couldn't help but approach him and help him. When he ï¬nished setting up the tents, I noticed that his tent was next to mine. That's why he put me here! I went inside the tent and arranged my other things. Pillow, blanket, small lamp and of course.... Snorlax. I can't forget him, even though I had a hard time ï¬tting him into my big bag. While arranging, I looked at the envelope inside my bag. Tsk! The one I'm going to sign! I made sure my things were okay before closing the tent. I held the envelope in my hand and faced Keifer. "I-I'm leaving." I said goodbye to him. "Where are you going?" Yuri asked. "At my old school... I need to sign this." I hesitated. "I'll come with you." Ci offered but I immediately shook my head. "It's okay... I'll just be there. I'll just be a moment." I didn't wait for what they would say. I immediately walked away. I saw Sir Alvin talking to the organizer. I approached him and briefly said goodbye. Since he already knew about this, he let me go. I went out of the old gate and waited for a jeep. This place was far from the school itself. I wasn't disappointed because a jeep passed by right away. After getting on, a few students wearing Holy Saints uniforms looked at me. It seemed like they still remembered me. The jeep stopped at the tricycle terminal. I got on and immediately told them the place. With every turn of the tricycle's wheels, I was nervous. I felt like I was getting closer to my death. It's hard to hear but that's exactly what I felt. The tricycle stopped in front of the gate. Dé javu! It felt like these things had happened to me . It was just weird. I approached the guard house and told them my purpose. Their security guard was new so he didn't know me. I didn't know if that was good news for me. The guard motioned for me to go ahead. It was class time so there were no students wandering around. But I couldn't escape the cleaner. "Jay-jay?" He clariï¬ed while trying to look at me with his blurry eyes. "...is that really you?" No! Just a hologram! I approached him and tried to smile. I was embarrassed by him, let's just say I was one of the people who used to be rude to him. But he never got angry with me. "W-how are you, Manong?" "It's you!" He said in surprise and slung the bimpong he was holding over his shoulder. He looked around. "...Why are you here? Are you going to study here again?" "N- no... I'm just signing something for Guidance." He smiled at me, the same smile he used to give me when I yelled at him. "So much happened when you were gone." I laughed a little. "Because the troublemakers are gone." He laughed out loud. "Get out, all you troublemakers! Those who were afraid of you before, are now ruling!" I scratched my neck. Son of a bitch! I expected the school to be quiet because I was gone. But it seemed like there were more. "...Oh, hey, hey... I'm going back to work. Be careful! I'm glad to see you again." Before he picked up the broom, I grabbed his arm. He looked at me in surprise but I was serious. "Manong... I-I wanted to... I'm sorry for everything I've done to you before." I said. I felt heavy as I let go of those words. Not because it was against my will, but because the word 'Sorry' was not enough for everything I'd done to him before. He smiled again. "It's okay, daughter..." That was all she replied but the weight I was feeling just disappeared . It was like a thorn had been pulled out. I smiled before letting go of her. A smile that wasn't orced but came from the heart. The confrontation between Manong and I was one of the reasons why I had the courage to walk and go straight to Guidance. But if you were lucky, you would have noticed. The school bell rang and my former classmates and schoolmates who had been bullied came out. Shutanginames! Surprise. Surprise. Annoyance. That was one of their reactions. "Is that Jay-jay?" "Pres! Jay..." "I think he's handsome!" "Idiot! He might hit you!" "What the..." "Why is he here?" They were talking about various things. I quickened my pace to the Guidance Office. It's located in the second largest building in this school . But before getting there. I had to pass in front of the cafeteria where half of the population of this school is. What a shame! I wish I had put on my headset ï¬rst. It's annoying! I'm going to hear a lot more of this. While walking, I see a lot of familiar faces. Either they were ï¬ghting, being bullied, or maybe they were my classmates with Cyrus. Speaking of Cyrus, he's back in school. I'm not sure when, but Kuya Angelo told me. That's why I'm also nervous because of him. "Look who's here!" A familiar voice shouted. I stopped walking and slightly turned to ace him. He was just one of the people I had a ï¬ght with here. "...You're so mean to come back here! After what you did to Papa Cyrus!" One of my eyebrows rose. Papa Cyrus? Are you Cyrus's son? When? The word is slang, probably because of his upbringing in another country. The sound of Papa coming out of his mouth was 'Father' and not the flirtatious Papa. The truth is, I forgot his name! "...You still look annoying! Do you know that?!" I looked at him annoyed but tried not to show it. Like I always answered him when he interrupted me. "What about me!" The other students laughed loudly. It wasn't really funny but I felt like they laughed because until now, that's what I've been answering him and he still hasn't recovered. I continued walking. I reached the Guidance Office building. It's on the second floor, that's why I walked faster. I really wanted to leave this place. When I got to the office door, I wondered if I was scared. My grip on the brown envelope I was carrying tightened. Jay needs it! Just sign it for a moment. Then exit! Right away so there's no trouble. I knocked on the door. It opened and the Guidance Counselor came in . Miss you Ma'am! Hehehe "Ms. Mariano? Right?" She asked me. "Yes." My heart skipped a beat. She remembered me. I'm in Guidance every day so she really won't forget me. "Do you need anything?" "Hmmm... I'll just have you sign it." I said as I handed him the brown envelope. He laughed a little, which surprised me. Was there anything funny about what I said? He took the envelope and looked at it. "You're so polite now... Before, if you yelled at me, it would be like we were the same age." He said while smiling teasingly. Oh my gosh! He remembered that too. It's embarrassing! I scratched the back of my head and tried to smile but he winced. After reading the paper, he handed it back to me. "Let's talk about this. Come into my office ï¬rst and wait for me. I just need to talk to someone." I did as he said. The Guidance Office has two rooms. One for his office itself. The other for his counseling and the parents or the student themselves. Nothing changed. That made me smile. I've memorized every corner of our Guidance Office. I entered Ma'am's office and my smile immediately disappeared from my lips because of the person I met inside. "What..." I whispered. She looked at me. "Nice to see you here." She slowly smiled. "...Jay-jay." "C-cyrus."
