Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Negotiations With Youlan

The Acquisition of Mi Huyou

Mo Li stared intently at the photo of Youlan provided by the system. After a thorough comparison, he came to a shocking conclusion—it wasn't just a resemblance; it was almost identical to Hollander from Honkai Impact III.

"Unbelievable..." he muttered.

With the decision made to acquire the studio, Mo Li decided to make the first move. He picked up his phone and dialed the contact number listed in the system.

After a few rings, the call connected, and a mature, indifferent voice answered.

"Hello, who is this?"

Mo Li's pupils contracted. The voice—cool and composed—was eerily familiar. It was unmistakably similar to the in-game Hollander's voice.

Snapping out of his shock, he quickly gathered himself. "Hello, is this Mi Huyou's studio? I heard your team might be looking for investment opportunities."

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

Youlan, who had been ready to end the call, stopped herself. Someone was interested in investing in their failing studio? That was unexpected.

"Yes, this is Mi Huyou," she said cautiously. "May I know who's calling?"

"My name is Mo Li," he replied confidently. "I'm a game enthusiast with an idea for a new project. However, I lack the manpower to bring it to life. I came across your studio's information and even tried your game, Save the Girl. Although the gameplay needs work, it's clear that your team is passionate about their craft."

Mo Li's tone was measured, neither overly critical nor excessively flattering. This earned him a modicum of goodwill from Youlan, who was well aware of her studio's shortcomings.

The game Save the Girl was a labor of love, crafted with immense care by her team. Yet, despite their best efforts, the results were disheartening. The game had failed to gain traction, and the studio was teetering on the brink of closure.

If Mi Huyou went under, all their hard work would be for nothing.

For the first time in weeks, Youlan felt a glimmer of hope. Still, she remained cautious.

"Mr. Mo Li," she said after a pause, "if you're serious, perhaps we could arrange a meeting to discuss this in detail."

Mo Li didn't hesitate. "Of course. I'm available now. You can pick the time and place, and I'll be there immediately."

"Very well. Let's meet at Yuanding Café on Xihuan Road," she replied.

"Understood. I'll head there right away."

After hanging up, Mo Li set off for the café. As he drove, a question nagged at him.

Why meet at a café instead of the studio? The location was near Mi Huyou's office, so why not just discuss things there?

Shrugging off the thought, he decided not to dwell on it. His goal was simple: to meet the studio founder in person and negotiate terms.

While the system had mentioned the possibility of acquiring the studio, it hadn't explicitly stated that Mi Huyou was up for sale. Mo Li chose to approach the situation as an investor first, gauging Youlan's receptiveness before pushing for an outright acquisition.

After all, this wasn't just about her beauty. No matter how stunning Youlan was, Mo Li wasn't foolish enough to make a decision based on that alone.

Before long, Mo Li arrived at Yuanding Café.

The shop had a cozy atmosphere, with soft music playing in the background and warm, inviting decor.

"The name's pretty fitting," Mo Li remarked to himself. "Fate, indeed."

Taking out his phone, he called Youlan to inform her of his arrival.

"I see you," she said.

Mo Li turned and spotted her instantly. She was seated at a corner table, waving at him with a small smile.

Dressed in a sleek OL outfit, her slender figure and graceful demeanor were impossible to ignore.

"Even her mannerisms resemble Hollander's..." Mo Li thought as he walked over.

"Hello," he greeted with a polite smile. "Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Mo Li."

"Youlan," she replied, standing to shake his hand. Her smile was reserved but polite.

"Would you like something to drink?" she asked.

"Anything is fine," Mo Li replied, taking a seat.

Once the waiter left, Mo Li decided to cut straight to the point.

"Miss Youlan," he began, "let's not waste each other's time. I'd like to know—what does your studio have to offer that makes it worth my investment?"

The question caught Youlan off guard. She stared at Mo Li's youthful, handsome face, unsure how to respond.

What kind of investor starts by questioning the value of their potential investment?

"Our studio..." she began hesitantly, "...is made up of people who truly love games. But if your primary goal is profit, I can't guarantee you'll see a return on your investment."

Mo Li chuckled softly. "How refreshingly honest," he said.

"I'm not here just for profit," he continued. "I was impressed by your team's dedication. That's why I'm here."

Pausing for a moment, his expression turned serious. "I have an idea for a game—one that has the potential to generate tenfold returns if executed properly. But I can't make it alone, and I don't want to go through the hassle of starting a studio from scratch."

Youlan's eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you saying you want to invest in our studio to develop this game?"

Mo Li shook his head with a faint smile.

"Not quite," he replied. "I want to buy your studio."

"...What?" Youlan blinked, stunned.

"The system report didn't mention selling the studio," she said, frowning. "We were only seeking investors."

Mo Li leaned back in his chair, unfazed. "I understand that. But considering your studio's current situation, do you truly believe an investor will save it? With no funds left for new projects, you're running on borrowed time."

He leaned forward, locking eyes with Youlan. "We're both passionate about games. Why not work together to create something the world will love—and pay for?"

Youlan hesitated. She knew he was right. Their studio was on the brink of collapse. Even if someone invested, it wouldn't fix their underlying problems.

Still, the idea of selling the studio didn't sit well with her. Mi Huyou wasn't just her creation; it was a collective effort built with her colleagues—her friends.

"I understand your point," she said finally. "But Mi Huyou isn't mine alone. Even if I agreed to sell, the rest of the team wouldn't."

Mo Li nodded thoughtfully. "That's fair. In that case, may I speak with the rest of your team? They deserve to have a say in this."

Youlan hesitated but eventually agreed. She couldn't deny the logic in Mo Li's words, nor could she ignore the glimmer of hope he represented.

"Very well," she said. "I'll arrange a meeting with the team. But I can't promise they'll agree."

"That's all I ask," Mo Li replied with a confident smile.

As he left the café, the system chimed in.

[Ding~ Progress toward acquiring Mi Huyou: 30%.]

Mo Li grinned. The journey was far from over, but the first steps had been taken. With persistence and determination, he would soon have the foundation he needed to build a gaming empire.
