Genshin Impact: Fatui's Resplendent Sword

Chapter 4: Heins (Fool) IV

The Fatui is an infamous, villainous organization for the world. For Snezhnayans, however, Fatui is equivalent to Liyue's Immortals. Not Millelith, but Immortals.

It was very respected.

The Snezhnayans considered Fatui's pragmatism as a ripe way of living their lives. They considered Fatui's people as their heroes, and would be the first ones to defend them should merchants and outsiders come to Snezhnaya and grumble about the Fatui.

Of course, this depends on which the Harbingers were in charge of the soldiers. For example, people would admire II Capitano's subordinates since they are the epitome of what a Fatui meant to be in their mind, while they would tremble in fear should II Dottore's subordinate passed by.

Can't blame them. Man's hell bent on making his victims experienced the most heinous, disgusting experiment known to man. A man driven by ambition with no bottom line.

As for Crucabena... Well, for the Snezhnayans, she was the epitome of gentleness and kindness. Her mature face could bring even the strongest men to their knees. She was known as the Saintess, considering her deep involvement with Fatui's Hearth, poising her as this caring woman who

took care of lost orphans.

For Fatui, however, they would tremble at the sight of her presence.

In actuality, Crucabena's heinosity is almost bad as Dottore. She was a cruel woman who would not hesitate to select the best children for the Fatui through unspeakable, inhumane filters.

And Heins would have to dive in head first into the House of the Hearth.

The reason...

Heins looked at the five years old Peruere in his arms, her big obsidian eyes glimmered in wonder as she tried to catch the falling snowflakes with her tiny pale hands. Her pale cheeks flushed under the cold as her oversized white fur cloak tussled under her relentless moves.

This girl was meant for greatness. Heins could feel it. And the only way for her to be what she meant to be was to be a part of the Fatui.

Her uniqueness would be noticed by them anyway, so might as well take the initiative.

As they said, Snezhnaya is Fatui, and Fatui is Snezhnaya.

With a carefree stroll, Heins walked out of the store. Behind him, Rayter shouted, "Take care of yourself, you brat! If I saw even a single gash on her, I swear I pound you ten feet underground!"

Heins merely flashed a smirk, while Peruere in his arms shouted in indignation, her tone filled with pure unadulterated hatred,, "Bad bear! Heins cannot be hurt. I don't like you now!"

Rayter was speechless. What an ungrateful lass! Just because this unbridled boy has a slightly attractive appearance, you won't hesitate to take his side?!

Heins chuckled as he nudged his face to her hair, "Good girl!"

"Hmph!" Little Peruere was smug, smiling like a proud peacock.

Rayter couldn't bear it anymore and snorted, "Do it your way then! I won't see you off! The test is held on the nearest Military Camp. Don't miss it!"

Thus, with little Peruere in hand, Heins took a solemn stance as he transversed through the cold landscape. The Fatui Branch in Severnyy Town was located far at the south, thus there was a considerable distance between two sites.

As they disappeared in the cruel snowstorm, Rayter sighed deeply as he stared at Heins's back, "Boy, the lass's yours. I just hope you would take care of yourself. Crucabena is not a good person..."

The time, for Peruere, flew like an unstoppable waterfall. As long as Heins was here, even the gloomiest place felt fun. Heins felt the same, smiling and joking with the still innocent Peruere.

Soon, the visage of a stronghold appeared in the distance. The Fatui encompassed every single aspect of Snezhnaya, but they clearly treated military with most importance. Everything was developed just for the sake of enhancing Snezhnaya's military force.

The stronghold resembled an enclosed barrack. It was fortified and looked intimidating. Peruere showed a fearful look, to which Heins whispered comforting words to assure her that everything's alright.

The Fatui agents could be seen guiding the participants. Their mask seem to emit a voracious aura, commanding fear and respect of the Snezhnayans. They are following the standard procedure.

Heins silently stood at the last row of the line that resembled a coiling snake. His tender visage inevitably invited some troubles.

"Eh? I never thought a little squirt would come. Hey, little boy, instead of wasting my precious minutes by standing there, why don't I take your place?"

The line was exhaustingly long, and phenomenon of cutting line was inevitable. The chaos was palpable at the front line, where many recruits were fighting to be the first to register. After all, they were not well equipped unlike the Fatui agents, and staying in the cold for too long would be detrimental for them.

They could cooperate, but in this situation, who wants to see others prosper and get ahead of them?

It's human nature, not to mention in an environment where strength is king.

The agents coldly watched it all with obvious indifferent and disdain.

Heins knew he could not compromise. However, the frivolous man's atrociousness did not end there.

"Wow! That kid was very clean. Very tender and beautiful. Heh, nevermind. Little shit, leave that girl behind," the man smiled. He didn't even bother to hide his intention.

Peruere trembled in fear as she felt the gaze of the man that made her feel disgust. She felt like she was forced to be exposed. It was extremely disgusting and uncomfortable. She snuggled deeper into Heins's arms, and only now could she feel warm and assured.

From a third party, Peruere is indeed unique and resplendent. Her skin is pale, as white as the snow itself. Her obsidian eyes with their shimmering crimson X added a mystery charm to her cute look.

A cultured, educated person would look at her and thought that she was a very cute child. However, in this man's eyes...

Heins's crimson eyes turned cold.

As the man licked his lips and laughed, some people behind him also joined into the fray.

"Jher, you found a cute thing and didn't tell us about it?! How could you?"

"Hoho, such a little girl. I wonder how much I could fit in her..."

"Such a tender skin, I would like to smear them with my color!"

They joked around obscenely, giggling and laughing. Not only them, even those strongmen from the front line were tempted. They are as frivolous as them, and some were even worse. The commotion fully exposed Peruere to the crowd, and they were captivated by her uniqueness.

The situation was not good, but Heins merely watched it all. He was more focused on comforting the little Peruere.

"Why fear? I am here, right? Do not fret, little girl, I am very strong..."

Peruere closed her eyes and listened to Heins's words. Gradually, the frost of the falling snow and the fear seem to disappear as her little body absorbed his warmth. Her little form stuck close to his chest as her lips pursed, her ears red due to the cold.

"Heins... Scared..."

Heins chuckled. It seems like his coaxing ability is very astounding.

Look at Peruere. The situation was somewhat perilous, yet she could fell asleep with a silly look on her face. His eyes couldn't help but soften.

This is how a child should behave.

Whiny, needy, cute and willful...

The group of men was still laughing when a knife firmly embedded itself into one of the men's head. The group froze as the blood of their fallen acquaintance spluttered, painting their face blood.

The spectators who were enjoying the show snapped their neck to see the perpetrator. Even the Fatui agents halted their step and began to pay attention.

With the snoring, cute Peruere covered in his black cloak, Heins charcoal hair tussled under the raging snowy breezes as his crimson eyes turned empty, his moves swift and decisive as the boy jumped, planting his feet on the falling dead man's chest and kicked the knife.

The knife twirled in the air as the man's head was split in half under the force, his brain juice tainted the pure white of the snowy ground. Heins somersaulted as he catched the knife and detain one of the men's right to see forever with a careless slash.

"Those eyes should be controlled, right?"

"AAAAARRGH!!!"

Under two seconds, two men suffered. One died, while the other's blinded. Quickly, others began to surround Heins, but who they thought he was? A dumbstruck child?

Heins rushed like a death reaper, swiftly beheading the blinded man. His eyes traced a trail of shadow in his peripheral vision and took advantage of his momentum to change the trajectory of his body, slashing apart the oblivious thing's head.

Three dead.

"S-Shit! Why are we surrounding him?! Just charge!" A man with a bowl cut cursed and trembled. But his meager pride refused to be deterred by a mere child, thus he forced himself to charge at Heins.

Had he not realized that he was the only one alive in the group?

Heins's crimson eyes gleamed as he took in the pathetic form of the man ahead of him. The way his forced movement was initiated, the way his pathetic form trembled.

As the man closened the gap, Heins has a thousand ways to brutalize the man. Still, as the man made a desperate attempt to kill him with his sword, Heins, his left arm preoccupied with carrying Peruere, ducked like an agile firefly and kicked the man's chin. The man screamed in pain as he was unarmed, his sword flew like an unstable leaf.

He catched the twirling sword and embedded it brutally into the falling man's chin. The blade went through the soft under skin of the chin all the way to the crown.

The man gurgled for a while, his eyes terrified and were filled with horror. It seems like he saw something unspeakable flashing in his eyes before his death. Heins remained indifferent.

Probably the judgement.

The group that had molested Peruere with their horrendous words died in injustice. Heins scoffed, should've implemented the Blooming Chrysanthemum Method at least ten times.

The fact that Peruere slept in his arm through the whole ordeal was enough for Heins to discern her deep trust in him.

All this time, only a small drops of blood fell on his black cloak, and even then, their trace was veiled due to the dark color. Heins looked over to the spectators, his immature tone flat and unforgivable, "Come. I'm waiting."

The snowy ground around Heins was tainted with red and yellow and brown, like a devil circle. Four men were killed under three minutes.

It was an effective deterrence, seemingly. The rest of the registrants hurriedly reverted their gaze to somewhere else. The boy was not simple!

The Fatui agents, however became interested in him. The boy was holding a small girl, yet he effortlessly killed four men. If trained properly, how utterly devastating the boy could be?

Before Heins could get into the line again, an agent intercept him and asked, "What's your name, boy?"

Heins thought for a while. In the end, he showed a smile and answered, "Fool. They call me Fool."

The agent paused. Then, he smiled cruelly as he patted Heins's shoulder, pressing his shoulder with pressure. Clearly he was displeased with his attitude. However, when he noticed Heins's lack of reaction, he halted his action.

In the end, the agent snorted, "Well boy, since you proved us of your worth, you are qualified to be of the Fatui."

With a cruel tone, he said, "Mistress Crucabena shall pick you up soon, along with your little girl. Good luck, boy."

"Welcome to the Fatui."

Heins just smiled as he bowed, his red-blood eyes blank, "Thank you."
